You mention clearance at the mast head, but give no specific details. I have a Caliber 38 Hull # 1 Isomat spar. The furling gear hauls very close to the mast cap. There is a plate for a port and starboard shive for a spinaker that would only clear the top furling swivel by about 6" enough? Do you have a recommend distance?

Is there a preferred sheeting angle for each type sail? Say a G0 or Gennaker? Surely the design of the sail is optimized at a certain sheeting angle?

Hi, I watched this code zero webinar, very informative, I do have a question, would you recommend using a top down furler with a g2 genakker, would it fold nicely at the top ? , If so, which top down furler would you recommend, I have been looking at Selden GX furler.
Also if doing that, would it still be possible to ease the tack line when sailing deep angles to the wind ?

Yes, it works nicely. The tricky part about any external-cable top-down furlers like this is making sure the cable is very tight when furling so torque is transmitted well up the rope, and not stored in the cable like a spring. If it is, it can unwind after the sail has started rolling, potentially causing a back-wind in the layers of spinnaker fabric nearest the rope. This creates a tangle that is a very big hassle to remove.
Yes, you can till ease the luff downwind, though maybe better with the halyard since the furler is at the end of the tack line. Just remember to pull it tight again to furl.
