Love your channel and praying you are doing well. I am psyched to see you posting again! I have the FI v1 upgraded software to v3 and it tracks incredibly well. For me my FI tracks slightly better than my Eventide H9 which surprises me. Id consider upgrading if I added another synth. Thank you for doing this, really helps!
Thanks for the kind words. The F3 is no slouch and I could see Being perfectly happy with it. The F4 definitely bringsome new juice, though. If you decide to upgrade at some point, report back I'd be interested to hear your thoughts.

"We are doing bass" RESPECT. I got Version 3, and I'm really tempted to buy 4, long time fan of the Deep Impact.
Version 3 is a great 1 no doubt about it. I was pretty excited when I reviewed it and have been using it for a while. Version 4 does bring a lot to the table and it seems like it's gonna be the new ongoing platform for upgrades though, so it may be worth the investment.

Is this something convincing enough, and exciting enough, that I decided to get off of the fence and jump into the synth waters with you? Yes.
Specifically, the immediacy you specify is what I found ever so slightly lacking when I did try some other prominent, or earlier, pedalboard-friendly synth pedals.

Thx Rodney For the Upload. CV is a Killer Feature. Still scratching my head how i can Play arpeggiated synth and Bass at the same time. Maybe a Freezer Pedal in between..?
Hmm, that's a little tough. Being monophonic, you can only have the single note source, But your idea of having something in between the future impact and another synth it's pretty genius! I may have to look into that!
You can use some LFOs to get pseudo arps. I’ve done those on one of the factory patches. Also, freeze pedal is not needed - just send it CC64.
I did notice some of the lfo based patches, great work!
It almost reminds me of a part I wrote on my old bass through a metal zone into a boss bass synth
Something I've been looking for
I was very excited for V3 but haven't been able to get my hands on one. I definitely way excited for the V4! I still have "more important" pieces of my bass world to aquire first. Maybe my son will pick one up!

Latency is by far the biggest reason I'm on the fence. Thank you for doing an actual left-right latency test. I wonder how would other synth pedals do on the test?
Thanks for doing this. One tip - get a splitter hub and split the gate cable into two so you can trigger both the VCA and VCF envelopes on the Behringer.

I'll look into it. I'm doing a bit less on gear demos going forward, but i will still take a look at interesting innovative things. Right now i'm looking at the Hologram Microcosm that's a bit in the same vein, but more expansive. Thanks for the good word!

Nice to see! I wonder if it can detect 16ths fast enough to be playable? I would love to be convinced, having a source audio C4 and finding it unconvincing under the fingers. Good for some stuff though
It will come down to your technique for sure. I can play some fast things on it, even tapping. The key is, you have to end each note and give a good attack on the next one. So if you play quickly without alot of accurate note definition, it won't track as well.
Your shirt threw me off the first few seconds of the video. I was like "Iron Maiden shirt - nice." & then thought "That doesn't look like Eddie (view of his face partially obscured by the upper horn of the Klos). Then finally "It's Boba Fett!" - then I saw the rest of what I thought was "Iron Maiden". Great shirt & video Rodney and you are the only bass channel that I know will provide quality & entertaining content each & every time - thank you & cheers!

I wish you gave us more sound samples of the external synth teamed up with the future. I am dying to see if it is worth the upgrade from my v3
It's worth it. I'm not sure how additional sound samples would have helped you unless you own the identical synth and dial in the same patches.
Im realy into Synth Bass Pedals. Always wanted a Future Impact but never pulld the trigger. Got some OC2s, a Meat Box and two EHX Bass Micro Synths. The OC2 is my main Pedal when it comes to synths. Like the Sound, but the tracking is kinda bad. Also got a Korg Micro Korg on stage for some Songs. The Future Impact would be the cure of all my problems and the way to big Pedalboard. :D
Thank You Rodney, Well done, Is there a diagram of how to set up the Cabling to use an external analog synth source? I am not sure what input or outputs to use in a setup like this. I see it is Monophonic, but can it do bends?
There is some info in the manual on how to get it hooked up. I can do bends as well. Thanks for checking it out.

What about tracking & tonality on 5ver? Or rather, on the B string of a 5ver?
5 works fine. I did some in my review of version 3 and this one is improved over that.
I dig all the non-metal gear you’re doing Rodney! Hope you’re doing well.
I owned v3 for a while and sold it again for 2 reasons: 1) It didn't 'feel' well while playing, perhaps due to slacky tracking and 2) I found out (again) that I just don't use synth bass sounds other than while wasting my time ehm...having fun at home while noodling along on the bass. It appeals, but in the end it is just another expensive piece of useless gear for me. I sincerely hope it will be worth it for many who can make actual music from it.
As always, great review and examples! Good mention that the FI is a synth.
I've had the chance to try at home the FI v3 and the C4.
C4 had a good OC2 sound, but most user's presets were disappointing or/and too extreme, and in general the tone felt "cold".
On top, the C4 constant need to be connected to the computer killed my interest.
The FI V3 felt and sounded more musical and organic. With the FI, I found much faster use of tones to play with songs along Michael Jackson (Thriller) or Bjork (Army of Me, as you previously demoed with the V3).
Looking forward to the FI V4.
