- I go through the good and bad of owning and driving a W220 2003 Mercedes S600 V12 Twin Turbo including my review of the car and some of the pros and cons of the ownership experience - includes a test drive around Nashville!!

Always wanted a W220 but it’s very rare to find a well kept maintained one. Very nice car tho.
Thanks for watching!! They got cheap pre-Covid and a lot of them ended up in the hands of folks overwhelmed by the maintenance requirements so now it’s tough to find a clean one. I would say mine was NOT well maintained before I bought it and it would have been over $10k to pay a shop to do all the work I did on it!! It’s almost always cheaper long term to buy one that was been well looked after like what your saying!!!
That's pretty fast considering this is a 20 year old car with a 5 speed automatic transmission. For perspective, you took off from/on an unprepared surface such as this emergency lane. The acceleration isn't quite in a straight line due to the curve of the road ahead. Also, it's clear that you lost some traction while accelerating under these circumstances based on the traction light flashing briefly in the gauge cluster. It looks like a 0-60mph run of about 5 seconds. That is not far off from published data proclaiming that this car can do roughly 4.5 seconds or so from 0 to 60mph. Great review!

If the ABC suspension is working as it should and you don't have any leaks, and the ground the car sits on is a little bit slanted, the car will try to level itself to some extent. That might be why one of the wheels sits different than the wheel on the other side.
Yea true that's as a possibility. In my case the car was so jacked up from it's prior history that I had to reset the height of all four corners using Star Diagnostics. Example: There were bricks, literally bricks, wedged above the shocks in order to try to set the ride height higher so the aftermarket wheels wouldn't rub the fenders!!! Total Hooptie!!! Much better now...I have put 15k miles on her and she is awesome. Thanks for watching and commenting!!!
How are you enjoying the prices of that premium gas that V12 requires ? I have the same car in the AMG and its restricted to Sunday driving only now unfortunately. The maintenance is a haul, but the driving experience is incredible.
I plan on buying the 2003 /06 Cl600 this year !! Great cars, they look awesome. Also the w220 s600/w215 looks great with the AMG Sport package ! When I get mine I want it to be the sport package, if it’s not the Sport package I’ll buy the bumpers which look way better. Your videos are great !!

@@cassidycarcave2781 so was mine! I currently own a MK2 golf, I'm going to school for automotive repair next September, German cars are my thing, so Ive been looking a s430's and s500s, seems to be plenty of those, but I've stumbled upon an o4 s600, but for 18,000, it's a little steep.

Wheels and color are right on...beautiful car (also technically those wheels were last available on the '02 pre-facelift S600 - '03+ AMG monoblocks had slightly thinner spokes - but I prefer the '02 wheels on there!!)

Just repaired by Keyless go with a brand new Keyless go card. Works perfectly. To avoid being lost the card is now chipped so I can find it if it gets lost. Great video.

@@Enzo-tg8uo hey sorry I thought your car already had the card. I think you're correct. The cards were for the early years maybe 03-05? After that the key became the transponder. I believe you can retrofit your car to a transponder key if it isn't already set up that way...good luck!
I have a 03 S600 40k/mi my mother bought new. Has lights on I’ve seen you fix that the dealership can’t seem to find. I’m not far from you. You wan fix it for me? It would make a great video. The car is immaculate..No ABC lights

2005 S500 showroom condition driven few times a week
2005 CL500 showroom condition for the weekend
1999 E320 Mint driven daily
1985 500SEL like new, i drive it once a month from Cali to Vegas, i love the feel of it, it's like no other car. With the exception of the V12, Diesel and AMG, almost all Benz class cars been through the Cave from the1980 450SEL 6.9 to 09 CL550, the 4 listed above are my favorites, i do all service and preventive maintenance by myself with the exception of flushing fluids and transmission service, never had major issues so far, again thanks for sharing your experience with the rest of us.
@@roxyroxy4816 That is a way cool list of cars! glad to see there's some other folks out there turning wrenches on these and keeping them on the road. With a little bit of forum research and a few basic tools you can drive a pretty sweet car if you don't mind the occasional headache. thanks again for being part of the channel :-)
Great honest review. Now send in your ECU and gain that 125Hp ,150+TQ and then see what fast is. All for under a grand :)
I get my ecu done it was very fast, but it showed P20D4 and P0221 code, nobody knows why, so the company deturn my power, it is a bit faster than stock, and no codes, unsatisfied

The headliner on the s600 is not fake suede, it's real. The s430 and s500 are imitation.

How does this compare to a W140? Have you owned one yet? I know you have the R129. But curious if you have sedan experience/comments!

Im glad the car is up and running. Now you can finally enjoy driving it. I prefer the oem monoblocks than the lorinser. Yes you are right about buying the car cheap but it the challenge to keep it maintained and knowing how to fix it on the fly. As for my w140, I finally got my amg oem exhaust. Now I can put it on, along with the oem AMG bodykit, and get my monoblocks refinished. Looking forward to your future updates with the w220. Take care

MY Baack. Not May Back Sorry but I am a stickler. The CL600 that I have is quiet and smooth, but I'm sure the S600 is better. I think the size of the rims and wheels on my CL give it a rougher ride. (than the S class) Thanks for the tip concerning the keyless starting for the CL. I will look into that. Good to see you back.

yeah, the AMG65s are kind of more about show than anything else. A mild tune on the V-12 in a S600/CL600 gets you AMG65 power for a fraction of the cost (insurance and registration much cheaper too!)
So true about the tune... just an ECU flash can get you to 600hp... And great point about the insurance! Thx!!!
This and a 2014 CLS AMG are my favs but I’m too scared mind you I got a C7/Infiniti cause atleast I can fix em by my self mostly

I always thought the W220 looked better than the W221 exterior. But the W221 smokes it in terms of interior quality and overall build quality. W220 were some dark days at Daimler.

S class has the most insulated exhaust of all the body styles
2 cats 2 resonators and a huge massive muffler on each side of the exhaust, engine
But seriously look up the exhaust layout of cl500 s500 and sl500 and as weird as it is the exhaust is different of each model even tho the engine is exactly the same sure some of that is body size they have to work with but you will see what I mean the drastic difference each body with the same engine

This dude should not be allowed to do vedio on car he has no idea about them! The leather in this car is hand stitched and the roof headliner is made of finest suade there can be, engine is hand built by one engineer only. Get your facts straight
