    Went to a coffee shop a little while ago. A dude was sitting at a table - not on his phone or laptop. He just sitting there . . . drinking coffee . . .

    People aren't addicted to their phones because phones are so addictive. They are addicted to their phones because their lives are empty, devoid of meaning and connection to other people. I don't claim to know how to fix that, but I'm pretty sure fixing a problem starts with identifying it. I think I heard a Joe Rogan guest say that once.

    If I’m in a public area or at the store or a waiting room I do my best to stay away from touching my phone. Ppl don’t realize how much of what you are missing in the world around you. It amazes me how often I see ppl on their phones constantly and never talking to anyone. It’s quite sad.

    In my field of work, there's a huge difference between those that grew up before instant acess and those that have.
    The younger guys can't make a decision under stress , right or wrong , they just freeze. They need " to call someone " for the answer to " what should we do ? "
    Common sense is gone.

    When newspaper first came out people at that time treated it like the internet now, because before newspaper if you want news you actually have to go out and talk to other people. So it was looked at as it was a lazy thing people now do. Even though its a lot better before if were still doing the same thing that means we are not moving forward or at all and personally i think its not a bad or good thing. Its just being human and nothings wrong with it.

    I lose my phone more often than I use it. I probably don't touch it 4 times a day. In fact, I just got rid of a flip phone this year lol. I see folks staring at their phone screens & holding up their phones to get video they will likely never watch again. While at the same time missing the full experience happening before them. It's kind of sad. It certainly looks like an addiction to me.

    ETA: lol yeah uh poor people are suffering in this country. Poor people don't know what it's like to have a car that doesn't break down, what it's like to go get a cup of coffee and relax because they're working two jobs and have to ride the bus or bike to work. The biggest problem with that: Americans who really shouldn't be complaining about anything and who do have a good life look at EVERYBODY like we're all in the same boat. We're not. I mean ... yeah you go to those war zones but I'm assuming you get paid a shit ton of money to do that, you get to travel to other places on your way to and from assignments. The only way I can afford to do anything is if my friends help me out. We eat out when someone takes us out because we can't afford it ourselves. My family has gone to bed not knowing how I'm gonna pay for food or electricity, and whether we will have either the next day. So ... ya know ... speak for yourselves that everyone has "so much" and no one appreciates it.
    I'm gonna disagree on one point: The internet is NOT unlimited FREE information. I wrote some pieces last year and had to access old newspapers. WHAT A NIGHTMARE. The really important stuff is all blocked by paywalls, if it is online at all. Can't access newspapers - old or new - without subscriptions. Can't access articles in scientific or academic journals without paying for them. I have a blog .... I can't post more than a paragraph from my blog in other places without Google shutting me down in search results. Information is throttled, expensive and hard to find. But HEY! If you wanna know how the Kardashians are doing today, there are 100 places that have the inside scoop on every tiny detail.

    • @LilSexySteve
      @LilSexySteve 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      you can research old newspaper articles at your library, also when you assume something you're just making an "ass" out of yourself so don't ever just asssume, i feel like your heart is in the right place but you still gotta lot of learning to do, what joe was saying is people are always wanting more and aren't happy with what they have such as a clean bill of health, a job, a roof over your head, food in your stomach, clean clothes shit like that people live life these days almost like its a fantasy, they want everything but don't wanna work for it.

  • @Krispymanbligity

    1:26 I disagree, I think we all use our phones constantly to find out info about anything. We just do it so much we get bored and do other things. You're not constantly wanting to know everything about anything at all times.

    I don't agree. Where Americans live and there is space and a solid economy, meaning people are able to take care of themselves, I don't see drama. In LA people seek out drama where there is none. Here, people want calm. Your business is your business.

    as a gun owner, I know you are also, but the background checks are beyond legit, it is not easy to get a gun, for the concealed carry there is an extensive test also, point I was denied a gun one time, came back there was a problem I had to figure out what it was before I could get the gun and wait again to see if I could get it, what kind of problem you ask, turns out I had forgot to pay a traffic ticket, so no it is not easy to legally get a gun

    Try living in new Brunswick, by 31 you'll be dead inside, the long winters poverty unemployment... Soul draining if you don't leave...itts like I haven't seen the sun in years I'm also fighting opioids... On methadone 40 mg... Going off but whew... Id kill to have access to money, man ayehuasca sounds so good but I just live on a couch until I'm going to put a bullet in my head... Eventually... Day in day out nothing... Sad before methadone I use to have a gf, cat, apt everything car... Was a roofer... Now I been clean two years but on methadone but so depressed just want off of it... Was in fort McMurray.. Now laid up on mom's couch... She hates me thinks I got willpower problems of only she been down the road of iv heroin and dilaudid she know but I don't wish that on anyone... But yea I'm off track... Welfare now gives me 380 a month it's not even enough to live on... I have to smoke cannabis coming off methadone at least to ease the pain... When I was young I experimented with everything and I think of I could get a mdma or Ayahuasca session in I could get off opioids once and for all and go outside again and get a life back... They threw me in jail over a domestic that wasn't my fault for a year when I was 25 after that I got into pills and stuff and I'm only 31... 2 years clean I need out of this but things only get darker when I try to get free from the methadone clinic.... Help!
