I work in NCLEX prep so this video makes me !!!! If you are scoring that high on your predictor with Kaplan, I’d say to schedule your NCLEX ASAP once you get the ATT. Studying will help you maintain that score/knowledge level, but really isn’t going to teach you anymore. Remember that NCLEX is pass fail and you more or less need to get 50% correct to pass (that’s a big over simplification, but you get the idea). It’s not like nursing school where you had to get 75% (or whatever your requirement was) to pass! Are you planning to purchase any additional prep materials?
I just took my NCLEX in June, graduated in May. My ATT took forever so I had to schedule later than I originally planned. The biggest thing is that YOU feel prepared. People love to tell you when you should take it but it's way more important to take your own feelings into account. I used UWorld and Mark K lectures. I found NCLEX High Yield like 2 weeks before my test and The Method helped me so much with my test anxiety! If you graduated nursing school, you can def take and pass the NCLEX! Easier said than done but don't let test anxiety get to you. You got this!!
A BONUS VIDEO! This made me so happy to start my morning! This is my last week of summer before starting las senior year of law school, is a lot of scheduling and last minute things so I don’t have any extra stress next week but is a good one. Waiting to Friday for a good dinner
hey girl!! i took my NCLEX just in july, and i would recommend taking no more than 3-4 weeks (M-F 10-5) to study!! i made it my goal to finish all my Kaplan Qbank questions in 75 question quizzes since that's the minimum number of questions that are on the test. my study flow was on monday-thursday, i would do a 75-question practice quiz, then remediate every question and read the rationale whether i got it right or wrong. every time i came across a question with a topic i felt like i needed to brush up on, i would do some quick content review (lots of TH-cam videos and taking notes). i would repeat that for as many questions as i had to get done that day while taking an hour break for lunch and 15 minute breaks in between sets! then on Friday, i would do a question trainer and try to remediate that as much as possible (which can be tough because they're so long but so worth it!). this really worked for me and i would say the most important things are: - doing a large volume of questions over the course of your study plan (~1,500) so that you put yourself in question thinking mode as frequently as possible!! by the time you get to your NCLEX, you'll feel like you've done this a thousand times before - don't spend time studying stuff you already know! - simulate the testing experience whenever you do a practice quiz to familiarize yourself with the environment that you'll have during the real deal (don't look up anything while you're taking the practice quizzes, get up and walk away from your computer to eat a snack or drink water, etc.) good luck kiara!! you got this
This is so helpful wow! Validated a lot of what I am doing now and I just moved my test date up so I hope it works out... taking a question trainer tomorrow!
taking my nclex this weekend!!! many of my classmates and I have taken at least a month to study and test prep. Idk if thats the norm, but our ATT also took longer to be distributed. I’ve taken longer than expected to study (2.5 months) to really prepare myself, and i still feel unprepared 😅. Wish me luck!! update: i passed!!!! thanks for the well wishes everyone ❤️❤️
Took my NCLEX last summer on July 14th. I did Uworld. So much Uworld and that was it! I passed in 75 questions. It maybe took me 45-50 mins. Trust Uworld! Our school also never did any type of practice NCLEX. Our profs didn’t even really talk about the NCLEX. My study plan was literally starting June 1st and I did a couple hours a day. I’m not someone who can study all day everyday for extended periods of time so I found this worked for me. I didn’t set a question goal or anything. My main goal was just to soak up as much information as my brain would let me that day. I did end up finishing the Uworld test bank and have time to do the questions I got wrong again😊
Thank you so much for this advice Sam! I also want to just do some focused studying for a few hours each day and see what my scores are coming back like!
Same, Sam! I highly recommend Uworld. I did about 2/3 of the UWorld question bank over the course of a month, and I also passed in 75 questions. It's important to read the rationales carefully as you go through the questions in tutor mode. Best of luck to everyone studying 💪
I will preach Mark Klimek for nclex prep till the day I die. I struggled with the nclex until I took his course. His course is a little pricey but if you search, you may be able to find his lectures online. It’s so worth it and good luck to you and all future nurses prepping for the nclex!!
Hey girl! I just graduated in May and took 4 weeks to study!! However, by the end of week 2 I felt like I was ready (to get it over with 🤣) and wished I had scheduled it sooner! I tried to move my test date but unfortunately with my work schedule I was unable to! So my advice, if you’ve payed attention in nursing school and overall did well..don’t take longer than 2 weeks to study! The sooner you take it after you graduate, the better since everything is so fresh in your mind! I used Nclex Saunders book and ati practice exams and quiz banks to study. I focused more on all my weak subjects and was able to pass in 75qs on the first time. Good luck!! 🍀
Amber thank you so so so much for this…I feel like I’m gonna follow a very similar path as you & I am willing to take my test sooner if my scores are falling in line with what I need ❤️
I just found your channel and I’m so happy that I did. Love your videos! I’ve applied three times now for nursing school. I’m from Sweden so luckilly it’s for free. I hope to get in next spring 2023. I Will do everything I can now.
I am currently doing my pre reqs for the nursing program at my college and your videos make me smile and remember why I’m doing this. For the love of the medical field
I graduated from Nursing school the second week of Dec last year and took the first NCLEX date available, Dec 28. Passed in 75 only using Uworld to study. I found it was a lot easier to test ASAP and not wait!
In California, it's $577 total for registering for the NCLEX! I just graduated last Friday. It's rumored to take 4 weeks for us to get our ATT. I am taking a 2 week break, then study for 4 weeks before taking it. Still trying to figure out what to use to study. Interested to see what you decide to use. Good luck with graduation!
I heard California is so backed up!! It’s wildly expensive, but it obviously will be worth it in the end. Hope you’re celebrating big time these next few weeks….I’ll def be sharing how I study & we can go through this crazy process together 💓
How exciting. I did my NCLEX 3 months after graduation. I took a few weeks after school to decompress. Kaplan was included with our school program so I did that. I did our kaplan nclex prep class. Just did practice questions everyday and made sure I passed the Kaplan predictor.
Not sure if that really counts as selfcare, but I have been soaking up the good energy and time with my new classmates. I just started school as a part of my 3-year apprenticeship this week and I got really lucky with my classmates! After having to deal with a lot of bullying during middle and high school, feeling misunderstood by part of society as being lazy(I have depression since I am around 11, now 24), it is such a great and healing feeling to be around people that are just open and look out for each other.
i just got engaged yesterday so i am trying to slow down and enjoy this time. but i am also getting ready to apply for nursing school this spring and i am getting so excited! i love watching your vlogs and i am so excited to see you finishing nursing school! i cant wait to see where you end up!
Hello 👋🏾 new subbie/ 3rd semester nursing student here!! I’ve been binge watching your channel & I love your content. I know this is old, but I’ve taken care of myself by getting an over due pedicure today!!
We're both an in accelerated program, mine is just a few months shorter than yours. I'm taking NCLEX next week. Hope you enjoy your last week! Wishing you all the best, and the absolute best on NCLEX!!
Sort of random but for your RDL’s if you switch the hand on your hip and the one that’s free you may have an easier time balancing! Usually helps to have the opposite arm from your standing leg free so you can adjust your balance with that arm and keep yourself square :). Unless you were doing it ipsilateral for a reason, and in that case, disregard!
Hey! Are you able to create a video about how you study, in general, and then for exams. I’m applying to nursing schools in Portland and want to see how other people study in nursing school!
I just took my NCLEX at the end of June and used Kaplan to study too. I went through the entire Kaplan program and used every Question Trainer and the Qbank like they recommended and it turned out very well. The most important part is to do some content review and then focus on tons of practice questions!
I think once you graduate go ahead if you can schedule your nclex at the first available! you know your stuff, trust your intuition! you got this! congrats!!!!
Congratulations! Not sure how you passed all your classes so fast but you did it. Make sure to practice on uworld no matter how well you did on your predictor exam. And don't rush the nclex date unless you are 100 feel ready. Other people might do it in 1 week of graduating but don't let them pressure you to not go at your own pace. Good luck on nclex 🥳
I also did a 5-6 week study time frame, where my weeks consisted of 5 days of studying and 2 days of working a week. For the first week I watched 2 videos a day of all of mark klimek’s videos. After that I did anywhere between 75-125 questions a day on u world. For a couple weeks I did it by topic but then I did it randomly because you don’t know what your nclex ones will be. I took notes only on the answers I got wrong.
i took my nclex about 4 weeks after the day that i graduated! i feel like that was the perfect amount of time, because at that time i was soooo over studying
I did U world for about three weeks after I graduated in June, and was near passing in most, above passing in one and below in one. Now I’m back to Kaplan, and have dabbled around in Mark Klimek and some others a bit, but spending more money on programs seems like a waste. I agree with a comment below about not letting people tell you how much or what, but take it into consideration and choose what works. I know a lot of people who used U world and I just may have not used it long enough.. but I take it again in September. Ugh.
I enjoyed the video Kiara I can’t believe that this is your last week of nursing school and that you are graduating but it was fun hanging out also your videos always feel like I’m with a friend
Good morning Kiara happy Thursday morning and I loved your channel and your vlogs is amazing and you are amazing Supporter and I'm proud of you and you are amazing Supporter
Wake boarding at the end looks like fun. Does Oregon have a lot of trees and have the feel you're living in a forest? Some states on the east coast feels like you're living in a forest. Some areas in Colorado have that forest feel to it. My goal is to buy a cabin house in the forest with a nice lake view in Colorado.
Depending where you work they might reimburse you for your license fees! My manager told me to keep my receipts and when I was hired I uploaded it to my HR account and I got my money back!
Wish I had some advice for you on your test. My area of the medical field is different so my knowledge isn’t helpful for you. I believe you will pass on your first try! You did amazing in school and have worked so hard. You got this!!
Two videos in a week. Nice. Do you like pasta? Interesting. I cook the sauce separate from the noodles and not combine them unless you don't have any leftovers. Looks really good. Every time you make food I have to pause the video, grab something to eat, and play the video again. Thanks a lot. LOL Do you have a fast metabolism? You can eat whatever you want and not put on a pound. I have to eat a lot just to keep my weight. My metabolism is super fast. If I don 't eat a certain amount of food I'll lose weight.
When you first met Shelby, you looked a bit nervous and freaked out. Would you react the same if you saw her again? She's just a person like you. Aren't we all equals no matter if your famous, not famous, rich or poor? No one is better than anyone else. We should all respect each other for our good and bad.

then on Friday, i would do a question trainer and try to remediate that as much as possible (which can be tough because they're so long but so worth it!).
this really worked for me and i would say the most important things are:
- doing a large volume of questions over the course of your study plan (~1,500) so that you put yourself in question thinking mode as frequently as possible!! by the time you get to your NCLEX, you'll feel like you've done this a thousand times before
- don't spend time studying stuff you already know!
- simulate the testing experience whenever you do a practice quiz to familiarize yourself with the environment that you'll have during the real deal (don't look up anything while you're taking the practice quizzes, get up and walk away from your computer to eat a snack or drink water, etc.)
good luck kiara!! you got this
