    Is it the collaboration or ingenuity that really astounds me more? Probably both. No matter what, the mojo from Red Seas is off the charts and there’s nothing better than watching you guys overcome a challenge with a smile… and dessert!

    • @RedSeas
      @RedSeas  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you! This one was definitely an unexpected challenge but we love picking up new skills as we go, and we’re certainly up for trying anything once! And when there’s dessert involved, even better (it was soooooo good! 😂)

    such steady hands in cutting off that shackle! I think the Jack Sparrow fan theory lives in you - that is, "Jack wobbles like he's drunk when on land because of his life at sea - but when he's at sea, he's as steady as can be!" Good work!

    • @RedSeas
      @RedSeas  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Glad it looked like we were steady. We were pretty worried about cutting a huge hole in Indi if it went wrong. As will all our projects, we picked a pretty windy day too so anything could have happened. 😂

    🥰 We wagered on which one of you would wear the new bridle over your head like dreadlocks. You have made us into the wagering couple we now seem to be.......yay!

    Good choice using 8 plait line for the bridle. Next time try using an adjustable wrench to turn the shackles.

    • @RedSeas
      @RedSeas  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s been really nice to have a bridle with a little stretch.
      Unfortunately the shakes were pretty well dead. We had tried a key, wrenches, hammers, lubrication and even a blow torch to try and expand the metal and break the lock but nothing was to work.
      In the end we had “fun” with the angle grinder and everyone, including indi, lived to sail another day. All part of the joys of boat life of course.

    I am with Iain when it comes to measuring cables... working with networking cables will do that to you :)

    • @RedSeas
      @RedSeas  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Man, network spaghetti will drive you crazy. We have been wiring up CAT6e onboard for another project in the works. Keeping that stuff tidy is a killer. Surely you need a broom handle and 3 different drums of cable just to stop it knotting up every time.

    • @Ross_MC
      @Ross_MC 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@RedSeas Broom handle is a legit strat for dealing with multiple unweilding cables! At least to string them out. I guess doing that on a boat makes it more interesting.. looking forward to seeing how you tackled it 😄

  • @dutchglobetrotter4513
    @dutchglobetrotter4513 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I do the exact same thing as Iain when measuring cables. Perhaps because I worked in a warehouse that rented out lighting equipment.
    Still work for that place now and then but now I'm self employed.

    • @RedSeas
      @RedSeas  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Cool. Didn’t know that about you. I was focused on audio but spent time working out DMX runs and configuring Zero88 consoles. Lighting is a strange world but pleased to know it’s a professional measurement standard we are all working too 😃

    • @dutchglobetrotter4513
      @dutchglobetrotter4513 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@RedSeas As an audio guy you don't want to know what we got now, fiber optic cabals that run 12 universes. We can put the DMX addresses in a whole universe of lights with our smartphone, no need to manually put modes/address into fixtures. Yes shows I work on sometimes have over 500 moving lights, glad I'm just a techie and not the operator. And I must confess I'm falling behind on how fast technology goes, I leave that to the younger generation (I'm 47) however I do know when I build a truss with whatever, mine is faultless against the 18-20 year olds that still have to troubleshoot their connections. Never knew you were from the entertainment industry, what company did you work for, I was employed several times in the past 25 years for Flashlight from the Netherlands.

    What kind of tools do you keep onboard

    • @RedSeas
      @RedSeas  ปีที่แล้ว

      Great question. We should try and show that in an episode. We have gathered tools as we have travels but it’s not a huge list. Makita impact driver, drill, jig saw, multi tool, grinder, sander and router. Manual screw drivers and wrenches, molegrips. Hammer, wood saw, 4200 gun, fiberglass mixing kit, leather man, camping knife, splicing kit, various crumpers, fish wire, steel ruler, every kind of tape, various plumbing parts, 1 hope, a prayer and a dream of one day actually knowing how to use Al of this stuff that is weighing down my boat 😂 😂. Not a full list but hopefully that gives you a picture.

      Haha. I’m sure there are some pretty unusual tools in the list. We have used everything. Even a couple of cranberry juice bottles and a car jack to refit our keels back in Trinidad. You use whatever you can get your hands on. Sounds like a fun project.
