      Yeah, we have been pretty fortunate in that respect. Lots of marine life apparently like to play around Indioko.

    Another great video. I like you music choices, and really like that you identify what the music is.

      Cheers! Yeah, we are both musicians and want to shine a light on those more talented than us. Our theme tune is by Arrows & Bullets. If you’re looking for a new band to get into, check them out. We love them.

    Wow! Fantastic idea to upgrade the strip color. If I get through all our other BIG big big projects, I'll be doing this! Driving up to the boat and not seeing red stripes will make a HUGE difference.

      It’s probably one of the biggest “cleaning up” changes we have made so far and also probably one of the least costly. It’s incredible how effective it is.

    It's really hot where you're at. Your laptop may be overheating. Try a laptop cooling tray. The fans may help keep it cooler and functioning longer.

    • @RedSeas
      @RedSeas  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah overheating electronics can be a challenge for sure. We have been pretty lucky so far but I think between heat and salty air, most things are destined to eat themselves.

    I had a computer repair shop/computer consulting business and left it a year or twoish back. I had three Macbooks die within three years. Basically one a year when exposed to salt air. It seems that they don't coat the circuit boards well enough or at all to resist salt air. Ask me how many I had to repair with those same issues!!!!! Fact is I don't know but it was a lot. I learned my lesson with having them on the boat. It doesn't necessarily mean anything else would fair better, but my PC laptops I have bought have been averaging five years. Which they have a design life of around that much anyway. The fact of the matter is you can buy three higher performance PC laptops for the price of one mid performance Macbook. Black Magic makes a really powerful and free PC based video editor that is on par with Apple's offerings. So if you wanted to switch to Windows that is a good option. Also it is possible to load MacOS on PC laptop hardware. I've not done it myself but there are tons of tutorials. You just need another mac to download an OS image and a few other tasks. I also wanted to say I loved the striping!!!

    • @RedSeas
      @RedSeas  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, our relationship with Apple computers has been somewhat strained to say the least. We actually edit on premiere pro so that is agnostic when it comes to processor and OS to some degree but our budget was limited and we needed to get something that we had a track record of working with. That being said, if we ever could scrape together the funds for a monster Pc laptop that could handle the rendering work load that would make a huge difference to our reliance on apple. They certainly have been thru a few generations of @not so great” laptops but perhaps that is about to get better with apple silicone?

    Those are The Moorings stripes. Dark navy blue over bright red. Still in use today. Moorings stripes dont look so bad to me.

    • @RedSeas
      @RedSeas  ปีที่แล้ว

      That absolutely correct. Indioko has had a tough past life so we will keep loving her back to her best. The stripes were a little worse for wear. We love the new grey vibe tho. Feels super modern and really changes the look of the boat as we dinghy up to her.

    I love how you display your background music titles in the lower left corner. Unique from what I've seen on sailing channels.
    Fun video. Brioni... lanyards on tools! Craft knife, drill a hole near end of handle and run a cord loop around your wrist. Good job on the stripling!

      Thanks so much for joining our adventure. We’re glad to have you onboard! We actually have our windlass controls on a lanyard for that exact reason - I was more scared about popping the dinghy than losing the tool though! 😂

    Great job on the striping,, being simplistic just painted my whole hull white to cover the gel coat stripes. But it was only a beach cat.

    • @RedSeas
      @RedSeas  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We have talked about getting Indioko a nice wrap but it’s just too expensive for us. Perhaps some day if the upkeep of the old gelcoat gets too much.

    • @MrBobVick
      @MrBobVick 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@RedSeas To make sure nothing was lost in translation, by a wrap do you mean like a plastic car wrap, or does wrap mean paint in Scottish? My plan was to race the beach cat, so wanted something easy to cover up patches. Of course had one buddy paint a bandaid over his repair, it looked good & funny.

    • @RedSeas
      @RedSeas  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Haha. Appreciate the need to check the translation. We have seen a few people wrap their boats the same way you see cars get wrapped. Let’s them put fun designs on or just keep the boat beneath in a slightly better condition. Not sure it would be economical for Indioko as she is already pretty sun tanned from her years on charter but perhaps we work out a solution if it gets to a stage where we have to.

    • @MrBobVick
      @MrBobVick 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@RedSeas Thanks have not seen the boat wrapping process. Considered a Warp for the golf cart, but looked like an easy thing to screw up.

    There are loads of hikes in that part of Martinique, most less rocky than the one you found.
    Indi looking sharp with the grey stripes.

    • @RedSeas
      @RedSeas  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Haha well as you know, the chances of us finding the “real” hikes are pretty slim. 😂
      We are really surprised at the difference the stripes have made. Indi looks 10 years younger!

  • @alanduffy7993
    @alanduffy7993 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Great video guys. Indioko is certainly looking nice.
    Our older ex-charter cat had green topside stripes and boot stripe, which I changed to a mid-grey as one of my early tasks. Like you I was surprised at how much better and modern the boat looked..... Changing the stripes of course then triggered the need/desire to replace all the green canvas items, they were looking a bit sad anyway.
    Always keen to see what others do to their boats to modernise them (I like to steal ideas).

    • @RedSeas
      @RedSeas  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s crazy how much nicer she looks now. Hopefully we have a few more little boat hacks up our sleeves to share with you. If you haven’t noticed already, we do all our own boatworks and usually improvise solutions along the way as we never have the right tools 😂

    Sorry if I missed that but what brand of pinstripe is that? Where can you buy it? Thanks!

    • @RedSeas
      @RedSeas  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s just generic vinyl stickers, cut into strips for us by the sign guy in Chaguaramas, Trinidad. We measured how wide we wanted the strips and he cut us a whole sheet so we could apply them later. So easy!

  • @glennedwards1449
    @glennedwards1449 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    re your engine problem and most definitely not an expert. My guess is that if it is a relatively modern engine it might have an ECU Engine control unit fitted.It might not however if it has it is either that or a sensor

    • @RedSeas
      @RedSeas  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Interestingly, we were thinking similarly. A sensor makes most sense to us but we have had some really useful insight from our patreons. Turns out there are some really amazing experts watching our little adventure. 😃
