    I really love and miss that sound it made during the spin drain. It was so relaxing and quiet! These modern washers advertise as being "quieter" yet these LG's, GE's and others are all so loud, especially on the agitation. Even the agitation is quieter than the TC5! Mine was model number LAT8705AAE, the 87 meaning the year it was made. I do seriously wish we hadn't have gotten rid of it, because it was such an amazing washer.

      I loved mine. It quit in October 2022 and we replaced it with a Speed Queen TC5. I would agree- the HE machines often end up being the same or louder than the old machines.

    Did a great job on the Delicate cycle still had turnover. The slow speed spin is both after the wash cycle and the rinse cycle.

    • @isaac24
      @isaac24  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes it did. Thanks for the info, I thought only the last spin was low speed.

      @@isaac24 you could tell by the length of time it took to drain. On high speed spin the pump is also pumping faster took a while to drain the entire tub so you know it’s not pumping at full speed.

      Only the final spin is slow speed. The sound of the motor is a dead giveaway. It doesn't make any sense to me that the first spin is high speed either. I could see some really delicate items being stretched because of that.

    My 1989 Maytag has the "Fabric-Matic" system, which is basically just a one speed motor with pauses during the delicate wash cycle.

    That dryer model in the background is Orbital, contains darker control panels and smooth pushbuttons and was manufactured during 1985. One model like this and Dependable Care dryer model contained Signal Volume switch, Press Care option, Off label in between Cool Down on Permanent Press and Press Care. One washing machine model like this contained Water Saver option, known as Suds Saver, Suds Return in between Off labels on Delicate and Regular. Another model contained Fine Wash, meaning Hand Wash, Regular/Delicate with Extra Rinse, Variable Water Level switch, five Temperature and four Speed selectors, Energy Saver option for regulating incoming Hot & Cold water, known as Auto Temp. Control. One 1997 Dependable Care model contained Double Wash cycle before timer advance on Regular/Delicate with Light/Quick Wash, Sensi-Care, meaning Hand Wash with Wash/Soak, Extended Spin option.

      Gas or electric dryer?

    • @Dog-Lover36
      @Dog-Lover36 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      This dryer is believed to be gas, since it’s some type of Fabri-Matic model. Gas dryers appear to become more expensive than electric types. Vented gas dryers require less upfront investment, have larger capacity and dry fabrics faster. Gas dryers produce less static cling and can easily dry loads in about half the time compared to electric types. Usually electric dryers contain Steam and Oxi features.

    • @isaac24
      @isaac24  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Believed to be? You can tell just by looking at the outlet. If it's a giant plug and outlet, it's electric; if it's a standard household outlet, it's gas.
      Yes, gas dryers retail for more than electric models because there are more parts in them. They are, though, a bit more efficient, so the extra upfront cost can pay off.
      You are right, gas dryers get hotter than electric dryers and dry slightly quicker.

    Double Wash cycle would eliminate needs to pre-spot products while providing comparable stain removal performance, soak for 30 minutes with several brief minutes of agitation, water spun out, clean wash water added along with additional detergent for 15 minute Regular Wash. Granular or liquid detergent is placed in the bottom of the tub prior to loading clothes. Then liquid detergent is placed in the grey detergent cup on top of the agitator for the 2nd Wash cycle.
    This will also dispense the liquid detergent for the 2nd wash prior to the 2nd fresh water fill. Energy Saver feature or Auto Temp. Control reduces hot water usage, thus saving the customer money in water heater usage. The washer’s water valve will restrict the amount of incoming hot water on Hot or Warm Wash selection and allow slightly more cold water into the tub. Cool and Colors Wash Temperature on High Efficiency washer models like GE, Maytag are Extra Hot and Warm where hot water is added to make the temperature 60•F so that regular detergent performs well. This feature is only available on models that have either Temperature Sensors which can regulate the flow of Hot & Cold water over the course of the cycle or have their own heating element to adjust the temperature before it enters the tub. Auto Temp. Control means that if water comes out of the tub colder than the set temperature, the machine will add a bit of hot water to adjust it within range. Cool Temperature is usually 70•F and Colors Temperature is usually 75•F.

    • @isaac24
      @isaac24  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Now that you say that, I did notice a difference. Was the first spin also low speed?

    • @andrewg593
      @andrewg593 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The first one was high speed; which makes no sense to me. I can only assume it's because of the spray rinse??? The second one was low speed for sure. The low speed spin on a Maytag is one of the best sounds from any washer imo.

    • @isaac24
      @isaac24  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm not an expert on it. Although, it's probably my 4th favorite washer sound:
      1. The old belt drive Kenmore/Whirlpool machines agitating (the woo-woo sound)
      2. The old belt drive Kenmore/Whirlpool machines shifting from drain to spin (the buzz-click-clunk sound that came from the wig-wag)
      3. Direct drive washers doing the neutral drain (the ruuum-ruuum sound)
      4. This washer spinning and agitating on the delicate cycle.

    • @andrewg593
      @andrewg593 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      A Maytag on low speed is probably the 2nd favorite for me. 1st would definitely have to go to the old Whirlpool belt drive machines. The direct drives sound pretty cool on neutral drain. I don't know if it's just me, but I feel all washers sound better on low speed. The Maytag dependable care machines seem to have the most pronounced low speed hum.

    • @isaac24
      @isaac24  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I agree. Although, I much prefer the sound of direct drives agitating at full speed (the "chicka-chicka-chicka" of the 2 piece agitator) over direct drives at low or normal speed.

    Tide pods are not supposed to suds up. Its a low sudsing formula.

    • @isaac24
      @isaac24  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      They were Gain, but whatever. I didn't know about the sudsing formula. I stopped using those because they leave a residue on clothes that can cause a chemical burn (I know someone who had that happen). Plus, liquid and powder work better. I usually use liquid Xtra among other things.
