You take us to fantastic places full of architecture, scenic views and packed with history, adventure and even sometimes danger .How can anyone call cemeteries morbid or boring . You and Serenity Sue bring to life the families that are long gone and by saying their names means they arnt forgotten . Nice one guys and thank you so much xx

How beautiful to rest there with the landscapes all around . A view for the ages . Thank you for reading the stones . They're written so differently than the modern stones . Some of the buildings you've shown us are unlike any here in the states . THANKS AGAIN ! . . 💐

I'm a new subscriber, and had to comment ❤️
My ancestors are Irish, they settled in Victoria Australia. My gg grandfather is John David McGuinness, he was born around 1824 in Sligo, his father was John and his mother Ann.
My ggandfather was his son John McGuinness, farmer and grazier in Rosedale, Victoria, buried in Sale, Victoria.
My grandmother Irene Elizabeth McGuinness, was one of 13 to John and his wife Elizabeth.
I have a strong suspicion that there are more John McGuinness men from county Sligo, 3 generations of John that I know of came from a very strong John McGuinness before them ❤️ lovely thoughtful content, thank you so much for these glimpses back into our difficult and divided past.
I'll be binge watching when I can to catch up 😁💕

There is a snake inspection camera that you can use with cell phones you guys could get and use to see things better than trying to use just the cell phones. That way you wouldn't have to take the phones off the gimble. It's always fascinating to see the places you take us to. Please be safe and remember to take care of yourselves. Don't want you to get hurt or sick while exploring.

Always interesting looking into my family history... I've only recently started to do some research and it has been so interesting as I had no idea the history of my family... And if you were talking about The Howard Castle in Henderskelfe it is still open to the public daily with normal hours of operation for castle tours...

GV who knows just how far that underground mausoleum goes. I think from the Egyptian looking mausoleum with the pillars goes back underground all the way to the pyramid. I would love to see the plans made for the Howard burial site, that might show you exactly how it was built. Can you imagine GV what's beyond the door we see. Thank you again for a wonderful video.

  • @helencheadle5285

That was a lovely interesting graveyard with the pyramid GV, but a bit dodgy walking around with all the apparent landslides going on, and memorials in the process of falling over the edges! I’m glad they are in the process of trying to save, and hopefully move further in towards the centre, as it would. Be tragic to love such beautifully carved history as to whose buried there! I wonder where the crying child was buried, and hope to heavens she hadn’t been buried while in a coma and woken up crying inside there! That would be terrible! So many people used to be afraid of being buried alive, so had bells erected at the tops of their graves with a rope going down to the burial, the idea being they could ring for help if the woke! But I’ve often wondered how they would get the coffin lid off to reach the rope ( unless it went right inside with them) plus the weight of soil on top they couldn’t easily pull the rope!
I’ve never heard of one being used, have you GV? That difficult ladies name “ Letitia “is pronounced “Let ish a,”should you be met by it again” thanks GV! Helen 🙋‍♀️😘💕👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

A very pretty area in the cemetery and very nice area around the cemetery. The Pyramid Masoleuom was very interesting. Where I live, the cemetery is from 1866. It has a large skinny Pyramid for a Headstone, apparently the family had visited Egypt. So they were impressed with what they saw my guess, and created a Family Headstone for themselves. Thanks for sharing 👍 😊.

🇬🇧 I wonder why the Howard family had such an interest in Eygptian
    Funeral buildings?
I know the 1800s were pretty obsessed with anthing Eygptian with so many explorers discovering Eygptian artifacts.
Plus many educated families were very interested in Eygptian beliefs of the Afterlife
So maybe the Howards were keen on the soul ascending from the the pyramid & rising to the Afterlife.
Ive seen pyramids in other graveyards & cemeteries although not as large as this one.
It must have been costly too.
Some have said the bodies interred in a pyramid dont rot!
    Just became mummified, dried out.
So sad that many very young ones died in times past, in my local cemetery there is a beautiful small white marble
    Headstone with just this wording
    Here lies my Beautiful Baby
    Always in my Heart.
Thats all, no dates or family members.
At one time there was always fresh flowers on this Babies grave & only once did i see a small lady standing, head bowed at the grave, crying.
    It was so very sad.
Its never had flowers for many years, but sometimes when im walking around the cemetery i will put some wild flowers on the Babies grave.
Theres no grave near this one either, its just all on its own
It makes me so sad indeed.
Thanks for your very interesting tours & info.
    Peace & Grace
    🇬🇧👧

8:49 That's a human skull, the eye sockets are clearly visible

My only ghost story is my brother's story. He had a set of globes, the Earth and the Moon. In the middle of the night the Moon globe would start ticking like someone tapping it with a fingernail. These were hollow stationary globes. They did not move, they had nothing inside them - confirmed, nothing inside. In the middle fo the night the globe would tick like it was being hit. Finally my brother freaked out and removed the globes from his room.
Here's the kicker: Our dad died when I was 3 and my brother 6 months. He died in an industrial accident. He was a communication foreman for NASA.

Isabella Howard 1783-1836 married Granville Leveson Proby 1782-1868 on 5 April 1818, in Hanover Street, London.
I saw you'd missed the "Proby" GV. Easy done 😊😊😊

@@GraveVisitations if you look again at the line you read with Granville Leveson on, you will see that there was another word, that word was Proby. I saw it when you picked it out with your torch only yiu missed it and moved down to the next line 😉

Are you related to Baldwin brothers in the States that are actors. I know it is a crazy question but you have such similar looks to Alec Baldwin. Just curious. Love your site.
