- Because of a snowstorm that hit us in Germany, we spent a few more days than planned with the boys from the Black Hen coffee factory but we definitely had a lot of fun while we were there😄. But we wanted to make our way to Prague so we said our goodbyes and got back on the road. We found a beautiful wee camping spot right next to a wee lake hidden away in some trees. Which was great, until we realised we were stuck in the mud🙀😅. Not only were we stuck, but whenever we wanted to reverse back, we actually went further forward - getting closer to the water each time. So, instead of having a nice relaxing evening together, I had to spend it looking for wood so I could pave a way for Nessie in the morning when it was hopefully a bit colder..
Unfortunately the ground didn't freeze overnight so getting out of the mud wasn't very easy, I don't know how often we had to tried to drive out of there 😂
We eventually managed and started making our way to the Czech capital Prague where we got a wee apartment for a few days to explore the City 🥰

We’re Dean & Nala, and we’ve been best friends since December 2018. I was cycling around the world when I heard Nala meowing out for me somewhere in the Bosnian mountains. With no intentions of keeping Nala, I knew i had to save the wee kitten and take her to the vet - but I was well aware of the fact that it might be a bit of a challenge considering I only had a bike. However, despite my concerns, Nala quickly climbed out of the front bag on the bike handle and straight onto my shoulder. Since then, we’ve been travelling the world together. Such a nice group of guys at the Black Hen and so welcoming. Dean, great job getting Nessie out of the mud. I was worried there for awhile. Nala seems to adapt to any new surrounding. Such a happy and inquisitive cat. The houseboat looks great.
Hi Dean! Keep a small bucket of Kitty litter for just this reason. It will dry out the immediate mudd under the tires and provide traction!
Kitty litter is a great idea. My mother used it to get out of ice and snow. Worked like a charm.
He must already have some in the van.
I mentioned that last time. Or maybe a bag of sand.

Now.. that's 99.999 % of Guys & "All" but Dean doesn't wear a " Ball cap'" kinda freaks me out, So many are Former special forces. ( &:they ALLWAYS Stress, "Situational Awareness " Sooo can't see up, If the bill is curved, Can only see 5% of what's on either side. I don't care what people do, ( With in reason) But most visiblety gone ? That freaks me out. Just saying.
So glad you’re okay. Be happy you’re not in USA Lake Tahoe area. Nessie can’t make it through most unbelievable snowfall EVER. Wish we could help you now with mud. So sorry but you were great. ❤

Besides, you should either have a winch, or at least some rubber floor mats ;-) The aluminium things (sandbleche) are a bit overkill ;-)

Also may want to invest in all terrain tires and a solar powered heat source. Yes, it would change the classic appearance of Nessie's look, but may pay off in the long run.

As my Dad once said ( 1966 ) after I crashed my motor cycle in an wide open field, hitting a 4x4 post in a small bush😖..... "What valuable lesson did we learn "... stuff happens Dean, and most of the time you get a Do Over and a clean slate🤔 Glad it worked out and all is well.

I'm still happy that you and Nala have Nessie, despite getting stuck! Nessie is a good, warm shelter for camping in the winter. Definitely better than camping out in the elements when it's rainy, cold and in the woods (imo). ✌️✌️❤️❤️❤️
What a pickle you got yourself into - mud all over your face (reminds me of a Queen song) - and it must have been so cold! This was a primo video showing all your strengths! Dean, you are very lucky, that you met so many wonderful people from the Black Hen coffee factory.....Getting stuck in the mud is not fun at all, especially when you facing danger to end up in the river......The houseboat on the river Vltava in Prague is a little nice surprise for me, because I am native from Czech republic.....hope you will find there also only nice people.....much love for Nala and you Dean, just stay safe!!!!!!

Dean, you are a very patient man. I guess you have already thought about a bike carrier for Nessie so you could have a bike to tour around the locals or even use as a backup to go for help if needed.

On the floor of the roof rack of my van I carry two boards of wood for placing against the tires for getting unstuck from sand and mud, along with a folding shovel. Enjoy your travels. Keep on Vaning.
What an adventure! So glad you got out of the mud, Kitty litter works great if your tires are spinning when there is snow on top of ice, I don't think you will put yourself in that scary of a position of sliding into water. Enjoy a warm shower and dry clothes, Now I am following your dog dilemma.

dry un-used cat litter piled behind your drive wheels will give you traction and dry things a bit, but do not try
it in the rain! the litter is made of clay and in rain it becomes “greasy” you can use cardboard, old blanket,
and other materials. even sand helps.great video, sorry you got stuck, you are great you always leave the area
better then you found it! in the USA scouts taught that, and our family did that when we were done camping.

I am glad to see that you aren't on the bike as much being exposed to bad weather and other elements, but poor old Nessie is giving you some grief that the bike never did. Safe travels from here on out!! Stay warm and healthy!
Look into an APU. Auxiliary power unit. Separate motor that will give you heat and electricity. Possibly Thermoking or Carrier could keep all cozy!

Dear Dean & Nala, it's almost 11 here in the United States had to get out of bed & stop this video... I was freaking out so bad you getting stuck in the mud ...First I was laughing then I was crying ..then I was praying & I was wishing I was there to help you well what could I do nothing? I will say this the Wee Nala is one adventurers cat like I've never seen anything like it! I don't think there'll ever be another one cat anywhere close to her personality.. It's Let's just Keep On Keepin On! Those men down at the coffee shop were incredibly kind to you I'm glad they let you keep your van there out of the snow ...I used to think you were taking a chance on the bike.. although I loved our volkswagen van ...All I want you to do is go someplace get a warm place take a shower eat something & lay down & stay in one place for a while ..Your adventures are wearing me out 🥴 I Love ❤ you both so much! Please, please stay away from places where there's any kind of mud it seems like it's a trap for you.. Stay safe be warm! This happened to us once in a car. Lucky we had an old sack in the boot and were able to use it for traction. I’m sorry this happened! Nala just says “ Where are my biscuits”😂❤❤❤
