I can completely relate to Eva. your commentary is very comforting, healing and part of my daily routine as well. I look forward to your uploads and as someone with a lot of anxiety, your content helps to calm my racing thoughts and put them towards something healing instead of just spinning out from them. Thank you as always!
Can't wait to hear what you think of this season of 90 day fiance, especially Rayne. I have heard you in my head say "yikes" so many times this season while watching.
Sometimes I'm envious of your ability to yammer and be thorough and precise in your thoughts via numerous caveats. I have flaw shame trauma as well plus social anxiety and RSD but I can't gather my thoughts or think on my feet very well, so I usually remain reserved in social situations, unless it's online discussions. But that can get emotionally exhausting and time consuming, so I've tried to back away from engaging in such discussions for my own mental health.
10:52 Agreed. I come from an analytic background where there were no interventions forced on patients. Abuse victims were in control of when and how they wanted to process their trauma. After having imagery used non-consensually by CBT therapists and being pressured into writing about traumas by a narrative therapist, all before stabilization and without any therapeutic relationship or trust, I am scared to even go back to therapy. Nobody seems to know how to treat BPD, it doesn't help that they conflate it with CPTSD and force trauma work on their patient. Please keep rambling, I'm sure that you're saving life without even knowing it. Without you, I would probably have thrown the towel and given up on therapy. Also, I can't miss the "take care of youself", it is comforting.
47:35 Dr Honda @psychologyinseattle this is so relatable in a long term relationship and marriage. Can I just suggest that you discuss with Stacey if she is frustrated by the juxtaposition of you being in a relaxed state hanging out in the car while she’s frantically running around trying to remember to do all the things that are needed to keep the house and dogs safe while you’re gone? Because this frustrates me to no end but probably even more so that I have a toddler that I am responsible for remembering every single piece of gear, snack, beverages, toys, etc etc while my husband is chilling in the car with our toddler thinking his job is done? Your story helped us talk about this exact scenario and gave me room to express all the angry thoughts I have whenever we leave the house 😅
Hi Dr. Honda... I would love to get your input on Wade Wilson's released prison phone calls. The manipulation and lack of accountability was astounding.
28:20 I agree that we shouldn't censor any art form, books or else. We need to raise awareness around these subjects and respect people's decision to want to not suffer anymore. I lost a family member to bullying, they were 13. Nobody saw it coming. Netflix didn't exist back then. If people want to leave, they will manage. Parents are the ones who should be more attentive.
@@PsychologyInSeattle I actually cringed at the thought of you using it incorrectly 😖 However, when used correctly, glass files are better for your nails.
@ maybe you did and I misunderstood? My impression is you were saying that creators were choosing not to use the word because people get triggered. But I thought it was mainly an algorithm thing.
56:53 As extra caveats to your caveats (all of which I'm sure you're already well aware of): I'm not saying men that can't do those things are less of a man or aren't exhibiting positive masculinity nor does doing those things mean you're objectively more masculine than men who don't do those things.
01:02:31 oooooh. This sounds familiar and was likely exacerbated by my military service. Though they are slowly adjusting, much of one's "soldiering" is done through very negative reinforcement. But also, when does shame wielded as a tool to socialize people to social norms, turn into something more nefarious? Example: Bullying in grade school. Kids notice the "different" one but sometimes, their limbic systems are picking up on undesirable traits or behaviors that are antisocial. Sometimes those ostracized kids will adjust their behaviors to fit with social norms , but a few may grow up to be school shooters. I want to know about those kids "in between" .

Thanks so much!
This episode shows the need for a “deep dive” on yammering 😁
But then he’d have to talk about his own yammering 😂
@ how cool would it be though? Yammering about yammering! Meta yammering 😁
That's what we (you and I as YT content peeps) do!
@@PsychologyInSeattle is it the YT content peeps, or is it the academic in us?

"the internet doesn't know shit about personality disorders" lol

I can't think on my feet either. But I've trained myself (after 16 years) to be comfortable on mic.

40:44 you have to be careful with how you use a glass file for it to work well. It’s not meant to be used like a regular nail file 😅
Yeah? I guess that makes sense.

Going to research using a glass nail file now even though I don’t have one 😂
