Hey thx for the comment. It really is. I use the Boss IR200 for amp sims but to be honest I think k this combo does a pretty amazing job compared to it.
I have a Joyo American Sound and it's fantastic, I just got one out of curiosity more than anything and it essential gave my Marshall combo a fender clean sound. Great video Rob 👍
Hey Andy. Thx for the comment. Using it to colour a Marshall clean channel is exactly what my first video on it was about. Does that really well too. I really am impressed with it as a direct sound though. Way better than I was expecting.
@@TheGuitarEffect yeah it does, I found the stock IRs to be quite good though and considering the breadth of the range of tones, I've not felt compelled to try my own IRs. Agreed. Thanks for sharing. This is indeed a great pedal. I engineered the recording below and the guitar signal path was just Telecaster> JOYO American Sound> BOS RV6 > interface. th-cam.com/video/qjGNkNTvbu0/w-d-xo.html It really does sound surprisingly good. Thanks again.
I use the Joyo American Sound (same pedal) into an audio interface for all the guitar parts on my channel backing tracks. Any effects applied in the DAW. Works great as a recorded amp sim, bargain price too!
@@TheGuitarEffectYou're welcome! I don't use any additional sim - I find it works well enough straight into an audio interface. As mentioned, I generally apply any effects in the DAW (reverb, delays, modulation, compression, etc). One thing I've noticed. It sounds better with a 9v battery rather than power supply... but that might just be me! 😊
Can the Mooer DI power headphones? I have various preamp pedals (ie Vox Mystic Edge) and a Sonicake IR pedal ; I want to be able to plug headphones straight into the end of my pedalboard, would be good also to have an auxiliary input and independent level controls so I can plug my computer's headphone out into it and play along to backing tracks, so whatever the best solution is I'm not sure.
I think you might need a slightly larger pedal board. ;) You are spot on about using an additional cabsim along with the American Sound, while the American claims to have a built in cabsim it is very slight sounding and not enough on it's own for direct recording sounds. I use the ADA GCS5 cabsim pedal after the American and it just opens up the sound and makes it a bit nicer as does your Mooer but there are certainly many cabsim choices available and even a plugin in recording software would be an option for some people.
Hey man. Thx for the comment. Fist off. We all always need a slightly larger pedalboard. ALWAYS! Yeah I think this really does benefit from the bit of harsh top end roll off from a cab sim of some sort.
I was all set to drop 400 + USD for the UA dream or the Iridium so I could run amp-less and get a sweet fender-y amp tone. Gonna try this solution first for 1/4 of the cost. THANKS!
Hey Kim. Thx for the comment. Ironically I just had a comment on this video asking me when I was gonna get the UA dream!!! It’s funny I kind of think consumer trends have crept into guitar equipment in a way I don’t ever remember them being there before. I don’t really go In for the latest thing we all ‘have to have” ultimately I don’t think it makes you write better songs. And that’s all I’m really trying to do. The UA dream being the price of a decent second had guitar means it’s kind of think I just can’t really justify. This does great job of a fender sound direct or into an amp. Good enough for me.
Hi, thanks for the video but I have a question. I thought Joyo American also had in-built cab sim in it. Why do we require DI box? I hear the massive difference when you switch on cab sim with the mooer DI. I already have joyo american but am wondering if this this type of DI box is necessary to get better tones..
Hey CJ. Thx for the comment. So I think the overall EQ on the American sound is designed to work direct or into an amp personally I find it a bit too harsh in the upper highs without the direct box. It’s just personal taste I suppose. However it is better to run a balanced signal to a PA. So you kind of need a DI box anyway. Hope that answers your question.
@@CJLee-jd2lh I asked the same question on another channel and to give a bit more info to Rob's reply, the other chap say once into the DI and out via XLR (balanced) you can run the signal further without any loss of fidelity. Other than that I can see no benefits although Rob's point about quashing the highs is interesting. Gonna have a play myself I think.
The pedal is outstanding, and everything I'm looking for. Tones are real deal. Came close to buying that telecaster in a guitar shop a few years ago in southern New York. Hi Rob, Thanks for the great videos! You might be able to answer a question for me: I have a standard enough pedalboard with the AM sound on it, and I was considering getting the mooer micro di to go direct to the mixer. However, I also have a looper running backing tracks that sits on my board also at the very end, and this would benefit from being in the di box also. So, would the cab sim have any negative effect on the sound of the backing tracks (mainly bass and drums only) if I stuck it at the end with everything running through it with the cab sim switched on? So signal chain being: guitar>pedals>am sound>tracks>DI with cab sim? Sorry for the long winded message 😄
Good day…. Young Padawan. Sorry couldn’t resist! Thx for the comment. So I reckon putting cab sims on the backing tracks is to be avoided to be honest. I do t think you want to colour that sound in any way. What I’d say is buy one micro DI box try it all going out with the speaker sim on and see what you think. If it colours the sound too much get a second one exclusively for the looper. By the way check out the video on using the BOSS RC5 to play backing tracks. It’s a bit of a game changer with the alpha numeric display and the MIDI capabilities
@The Guitar Effect ha, no worries at all! Thanks for the response. I actually have the rc5 for the tracks and earlier I tried running the whole lot through an old behringer di20 I have but the guitar sound wasn't fantastic. So I think I'll try using a second one (mooer) as you suggested. I'll stay watching your vids from all the way down here in Co Tipperary!
Great video again, thank you. Was thinking to get some cab sim to with joyo AS, for recording at home into soundcard do you think it's best getting cheap ir loader pedal or is just using mooer micro di pedal with it enough, was thinking of mooer radar before but mico di is actually cheaper
Hey Philip. Thx for the comment. It’s a great question. Here’s my thoughts. I’m all about simplicity and avoiding too many options. So you have a lot of different tonal options in the American sound as it is if you add a IR loader pedal it’s even more options. Which is exactly what some people would want and that’s great but for me the Micro DI shaves off jest the right amount of top end and gives me an XLR out so that’s all I need. I can focus on getting the sound I want out of the pedal.
Off topic, but does that FV-50H work well in the middle of your chain? I'm interested in getting a volume pedal to go between drive and modulation. Seems like an 'L' is the way to go for that, but the internet has many opinions on this subject
Hey Ewan. Thx for the comment. Actually mate, that volume pedal is for my Piezo on my telecaster to be able to blend acoustic sounds in. I don’t use a volume pedal on electric
