Source Audio LA Lady. The best pedal for a recording setup I've ever used. Amazing tones.
My first look at a Source Audio Pedal.
The LA Lady Overdrive. A digital overdrive pedal (The best I've played) that can also handle distortion and fuzz with ease.
The LA Lady is a digital overdrive emulation that as it comes from the box can emulate 3 different overdrive sounds via the switch on the face. It also has controls for Drive, Volume, Bass and Treble. When you use the Neuro App editor you can access a vide variety of overdrive, distortion and fuzz sounds as well as tweak them pretty comprehensively and save up to six presets which can be accessed directly from the face of the pedal. However these presets CANNOT be recalled with MIDI without an external piece of Source Audio equipment which to me is a disappointing.
However with that one negative aside this pedal has the best range of sounds Ive ever heard from a compact digital distortion pedal of this nature. The sounds are detailed, three dimensional, dynamic and overall really really satisfying.
Is this sound quality combined with the capacity to quickly load a vast array of sounds before you start recording a guitar part that really sets this pedal apart as a space saving creative aid to help shape guitar parts when recording. It's really impressive in this context.

      So they’re actually quite different. The main difference are the fly rig us predominantly for playing direct and long he Cerberus kind of needs an external preamp to do that (in my opinion) The Cerberus has a far wider array of effects and switching options. But it is more complicated. For my needs the Cerberus would win every time but the flyrig is simpler, lighter and smaller.

      Ah OK! Well first of all thank you. I’ve thought a few times about making a video based on this phenomenon. But to be honest I think ageism is so rampant online that I’d just be called old man shakes fist at sky. The reason for all of this is the decline of bands in my opinion. Guitar is mostly people trying to emulate the tone of someone else playing at home. If you are trying to emulate someone else the gear they use all of a sudden becomes a massive commodity.

      @@TheGuitarEffect Agreed with the being called an old man as I am too at 69. Different times. Simpler times. I joined a Facebook group a few weeks ago named Pedalboards of Doom. 164,000 members. That will give you a real sense of things. You want to see a plethora of OD pedals, that's your place! I just got mine today - initial thoughts are in line with yours. IMO, the only usable channel is the "Crunch" channel. The cab sim that's built in is not fantastic which is surprising because Guillaume typically will use his 4X12 Marshall for the default sound for all the Two Notes gear (which does sound fantastic). I used with the the Wall of Sound plugin and my Two Notes Captor X, and it came to life. It came to life with my pedalboard as well. To play with it live, I plan on running it with a cab sim and my pedalboard. I just wish I could get this box with the crunch channel only and an onboard IR loader. Lastly, I replaced the preamp tube with a Wathen Cryotone 7025WC, and changing the preamp tube made a NOTICEABLE difference. I tubed swapped with several tubes, and the top end treble and upper mids as well as the characteristics of the distortion were very significantly impacted changing from tube to tube.

      Hey Derek. Thx for the comment. I’ve been playing mine every day since the day I got it which I’d say is about 6-8 weeks now. It’s an incredibly picky unit when it comes to input and output levels, different guitars, different gain and volume settings. I still couldn’t even make a call on how exactly to run it. It’s very very sensitive. Having said that I’ve gotten some absolutely stellar tones out of it. So I’m not knocking it, but it’s hard to use for sure. I’ve started using wall of sound too and gotten some great results but again it’s very complicated. There are a lot of tweakable parameters which makes settling in a tone hard. I think I’ve had the best results with the in board speaker sim to be honest. With the right guitar, pedal in from t and reverb it can sound really great. I’m going to be making a video about recording with it this week. Both with and without wall of sound.

    The current production of the ocd pedal is absolutely not up to the previous models. Now they make the V2.1 version, built almost entirely with cheap surface mount components (smt/smd) and the sound is completely different from the 1.7 version that we see in this video, among other things the 1.7 version is one of the most successful versions as it has beautiful mids frequencies. I recommend looking on the used market for the V1.7 or V1.4 version. Do not buy the version they are making now Another pedal that I recommend built entirely with a through hole and that even has a germanium diode making the saturation partly asymmetric (therefore with more harmonics) is the warm audio odd.

    Looks kind of similar to the tech 21 tri-ac but with more options. If you find the clean channel too sterile, you could look at using channel 2 for your clean and scaling back the gain a lot. Not sure if it cleans up enough though.

    This was really great info! But, it's not actually what I thought you were going to say. Here's my thinking on this: I just ordered a Friedman IR-D which is a pedal with the tube-driven pre-amp and digitally simulated power amp and IRs (cabs). Like a "real amp" (it IS a real pre amp) the effects loop actually DOES go between the pre-amp and power amp. I'll puty HX Effects in the effects loop of the Friedman, but the drive pedal will sit in front of the amp. I've been on the lookout for a great MIDI controlled overdrive pedal to put in front of the Friedman IR-D. I'll only use the time-based effects of the HX FX and contol it all via MIDI. I'm thinking it should be a great rig.

    • @TheGuitarEffect
      @TheGuitarEffect หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah that’s all exactly right. That right there would work great. I have the two notes revolut and could do the exact same thing for the live rig. I think this would be a great choice for the in front pedal. Or the Od 200

    When you think about it, its like 6 different drives w distinct characters that you can run one into the other both ways! well worth the money! can't go wrong w Strymon! Don't sleep on the Riverside as well! Strymon, Nux and Flamma are killing the game right now! Its' a golden age for players today. But one thing I notice is some players are just tone deaf, Meaning I've seen some cats with top of the line gear and still sound like shite lol, Digging your contents as always sir!

    • @TheGuitarEffect
      @TheGuitarEffect หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey Taurus. Thx for the comment. Indeed this really is a great all round dirt pedal. It really can cover all the gain sounds you might need. I just wish it had a way of knowing what preset you are on when using MIDI. I’ve not tried any Flamma stuff but indeed NUX and Sonicake are making really great gear. I think the tone deaf thing is all subjective. There’s a lot of big TH-cam players out there whose tone I’m not a fan of but they’re not playing music taht I’m a fan of so I wouldn’t be a fair judge of what their going for. Like I really like Dan Steinharts guitar tone cause I like what he plays but I’m not a blues fan so I’m not into Mick’s sound though I’m certain it’s exactly what he is looking for. Know what I mean?
