After working for Walmart for nearly 2 decades, I pick GV over name brand almost every time. I’ve toured a couple factories and seen first hand the “name brand” being packaged in the line next to GV. GV chocolate chip cookies are an item you buy multiple of because they are so yummy and so hard to get. The GV string cheese is almost half the price of NB but so much better tasting. GV yellow bag potato chips are Lays original
This is a fact in a lot of generic foods... I worked in a factory that made frozen meals and they did the name brand stuff right along side the packages with brands on them.
Another suggestion for the pork as this is what we do in the meat dept I work in with the exact same pork loin Take a regular knife and you can make the following cuts: 4 oz (about 1/4-2/8 or so) pork loin chops. you can break, grill or season 4 oz opposite end (half dark meat) we sell as ribeye chops. Season or plain most tender cut 8 oz cut (maybe 1/2 inch or so) same as above Take 8 oz and butterfly. People pound these out and make huge better fried sandwiches. Some customers have told me they cover with like a spinach stuffing and roll up for a mini roast. Take the 8 oz and cut a "pocket" and stuff. We usually stuff with various stuffings but I am sure you could do other flavors Take the 8 oz and cut in half and wrap with bacon. Pork verson of a bacon wrapped tenderloin. I cube the 4 or 8 oz (whatever is leftover) and mix in onions and cilantro and marinade. Cook up and use for tacos That one cut of meat (we have had on sale recently for $1.88 per lb) is almost the entirety of our meat case. Hope this helps
Great suggestion about using the burgers as just ground beef. When I lived alone, I often used a frozen patty this way. Whether I used it to make taco meat for a salad or a small batch of meat sauce for spaghetti or even a small batch of chili, it was nice not having so many leftovers to eat for days on end.
I've been doing the same and it really helps to reduce the meat intake my family consumes. It's just as easy to use a 1/2 lb or 3/4 lb as it is the entire pound. And no worries about remembering to thaw. It's a win all the way around.
@@yvonnepalmquist8676 when my kids were all at home I would buy a lot of ground beef when it was on sale. I would make a prep day and brown it all, then put into a colander to drain, then rinse with hot water to remove even more of the grease. When I came home from work and everyone was starving I could just throw a bag into the microwave to slightly thaw, then into a skillet and add fixings for tacos, spaghetti, hamburger helper, sloppy joe’s, or any other ground beef dish. It’s already cooked so it cut prep time to almost nothing!! Saves so much time and money!!

I'm becoming a Walmart grocery delivery connoisseur since joining the W+ program a few months back. I'm disabled and do not drive and it is not an option for me to go out and do my own grocery shopping. Previously I used a regional grocery store chain for my grocery deliveries but they are quite costly and now that Walmart offers the service in my area I decided to give them a whirl. For $98 I was able to get a one year unlimited delivery and a bonus 6 months of deliveries so for $98 I got 18 months of deliveries. Pretty good deal to me #notsponsored! My Great Value favorites are: pecan shortbread cookies, the peanut butter patty cookies you bought that are dupes for girl scout cookies, the $1 spices, the multigrain and honey wheat breads that are akin to the pepperidge farm breads. Most any of the Great Value cereals I've tried have been excellent. I usually get pretty basic things like cheerio knockoffs and Rice Krispies so why not go with generic right? I also like the Walmart zero calorie flavored water that you pointed out in the store and also they're knock off of the ICE sparkling ice beverages. Not as big a fan of the GV coffee but like the teas and Crystal Light knockoffs. The Great Value ice cream and some of the novelties are good. I've also been pleased with most of the personal care knockoffs of major items like lotions and skin care items.

I recently got one of those huge pork loins at Costco. It was $1.99/lb. I chopped it up into pork cubes for pork bites that I make in the air fryer and stir fry. A great way to get cheap meat.
I take about a third of one of those huge Costco pork loins and slow cook it with seasonings, then shred it to make pork carnitas. My crew loves it! I have been buying those big pork loins for years. They are such a good bargain. Sometimes I do a classic dinner - pork roast, mashed potatoes, gravy etc and other times I use a portion of it to make pork and broccoli stir fry. Possibilities are endless here.
In high school during summers I worked in our local factory that would process fruits and vegetables into frozen boxes and bags, it all comes from the same place and gets different labels. So for the people that feel they have to buy name brand you're wasting your money. Chances are it's packed in the same plant. Sometimes it is packed in an plain labeled box and shipped to be repackaged, so you're paying extra for that.
Have you looked at the ingredients for the Fuji sparkling water? I just did and it has aspartame in it. That is almost basically like drinking diet soda. When I buy sparkling water, I'll look for the kind that only has carbonated water and natural flavors in the ingredients, like Waterloo, Ice Mountain, or Bubly for example. Waterloo is actually my favorite carbonated water brand. I'd also suggest Zevia for a healthier soda alternative. Some stores might have good sales on it.

Christine, Loved your video on what to look for and purchase at Walmart. Despite “deals” and coupons at other markets, I like Walmart the best. Thank you! Also, your four ingredient bread has been the greatest. I now make several loaves each week and freeze like crazy. Your videos are so helpful and at 73, being frugal is really empowering. Thank you for all you do! Shelly
My Walmart has been lower lately per pound for the frozen patties, so I've been buying these for a while now. So that's savings one. Savings two is that I can pull out 1/2 lb or 3/4 of a lb instead of the entire pound and stretch it further. Savings three is time. If I forget to pull it from the freezer and thaw it out, my dinner plans are not ruined. A quick thaw and chop and my dinner plans are back on track. No emergency "take out" is necessary.
Yeah the pre made burgers are way convienent.. Am the cook in my world so convienence, no leftovers [they turn before i reuse them], fast, TASTY make my day..
Yes! The burgers as ground beef is what I am currently doing since I found several packages of steak burgers at Walmart the other day on clearance for just around 3.25 a pound. Freezer stocked 🤩
I love buying pork tenderloin to cut up for boneless chops, and pork shoulder that I grind and make Italian sausage and breakfast sausage with. Ground pork is so expensive, so I bought a cheap grinder that attaches to my kitchen aid mixer for grinding up pork shoulder.
I love to use the parmesan garlic sauce to marinate chicken breasts and then put them on the grill. I’ve gotten some breasts in the past at a really good deal only to discover they were extremely tough. I decided to try marinating some in this sauce overnight. It tenderized the breasts and was incredible.
Great Value "Smiles" fruit snacks are, hands down, by far, THE best tasting fruit snack on the market. Walmart used to sell them in large 5-lbs bags instead of the little packets. I wish they would bring that back.
@@raeanna0 you are right, some are better than others. I read the labels and choose better ingredient ones. I esp have to watch the dyes for my grandson who has adhd.
Christine, would love to see some budget friendly shopping suggestions for those with special diets. For example, I can’t have gluten or soy. Grocery shopping for higher quality, healthy foods can be quite expensive.
Check out her videos. She’s done several GF specific videos as well as some keto videos which by default are GF. Substitute coconut aminos whenever she uses soy sauce to get the similar taste. Enjoy exploring!
I often hit the eat for free table at Ocean State for gluten-free flours. Then you get a gift card to get other things. I mix rice flour, instant potatoes, xantham gum or chia seeds to make sour dough bread. It takes longer to ferment though and I add yeast if needed.
I prefer chicken legs so your suggestion of “hot legs” sounds perfect for my family. I had a package in the freezer that I just took out to thaw. Thank you for mentioning the use of them instead of wings.
At my WalMart the 1 lb bag of frozen broccoli florets is $1.00. The 2 lb bag is $2.24. Usually the larger is less but lately I have found many things that are more expensive in larger sizes. I make sure to look instead of automatically grabbing "economy" sizes these days.
Hi Christine! I too, recently found major deals on pork! I made my pork roast like the beef with the pepperoncini peppers - ranch dressing and onion soup mix. Served with your baked rice 👍👍
Loved all these! One of my favorite things to get at Walmart for a cheap date night at home is the Nissan Raoh ramen noodles, specifically the Tonkotsu flavor. WOW! These are not ordinary ramen. I add leftover sliced pork roast, a soft boiled egg, and some kimchi to a bowl of this delicious creamy ramen and finish off with a drizzle of sesame oil if I have it.
Use the leftover buns for homemade garlic bread or croutons. Yes, I am from the generation that was told “ I can make you a better burger at home than McDonalds”, that wound up with a thick burger on loaf bread, lol!😂😂Didn’t realize back then how lucky I was!!!!

the clear americans have aspartame, which tends to make my family sick, so we use the unflavored sparkling waters and add liquid flavoring instead of soda 🥰 wow, those flatbreads are almost $12 in my walmart! crazy
Loved the video! I do like the $1 spices at Walmart too! Also, hey I don't care about name brand cereal. If the Walmart brand is cheaper, and tastes good...taste even better saving a little mulah!
My favorite Walmart find is the little box of tomato sauce. About 40 cents. I love them because I’m one person and can add whatever seasoning I want I.e. chili, taco, etc. I think they’re like 4 oz which may not be the best overall value but the size is on point for me. I hate opening a larger size and then having the rest go to waste. Also perfect for camping. Cook noodles, add sauce and Italian seasoning…voilà easy pasta with very little effort.
I do the same. So convenient and no waste. My favorite tho is Hunts Basil, Garlic & Oregano. It is a small can says it is 8 oz. All natural no added sugar which helps me as I am diabetic. My favorite meal is to throw a bag of drained cauliflower rice, slice up a pepper, put in a handful of frozen meatballs or GV frozen cooked sausage Pattie’s cut up in a small crockpot. Cover with a can of this sauce and sprinkle on some mozzarella cheese. Cook on low for 4 hours. Easy, cheap and delicious!
We are pretty picky about boxed Mac and cheese. (If it's the powder kind, it MUST be Kraft.) My favorite is the Deluxe kind, with the pack of squeeze-y cheese. The GV brand of the Deluxe is great! And at only $1.48/14oz box, it is way more reasonable than the name brand.
My husband is spoiled now and only likes homemade😅 I try to buy the pasta cheap and cheese on sale and make a homemade bechamel like sauce and add an egg whisking quickly and off the stove then add the cheese in. Idk how cost effective that is but he won’t eat any other kind.
Pot stickers or dumplings...you get a huge bag for 7.99 to 9.99 and you can get 2 or 3 meals or more out of them adding a plate full of veggies and you can use some of the Panda sauces or just soy sauce but it does come with 4 pouches of flavored soy sauce...I luv them...money saver for sure.
The great value tortilla chips are one of my absolute favorite finds ever! They’re so cheap (just a little over $1 a bag I believe) and they’re very similar to Tostitos. They’re a must buy!
I get that powdered peanut butter for our morning smoothies ALL the time. It's fantastic. I have never seen that bag of oats before! I will look for it. I hope my Walmart has it.
Love the GV brand thin mints. We started buying the store brand tortilla chips during 2020 because of supply issues, and haven’t switched back. My husband actually prefers them and gets cranky when more expensive chips get subbed. (We have tacos and nachos a couple times a month)
I live in Australia and I WISH our meat prices would even come close to yours. I just checked how much pork loin roast costs at my supermarket and it's $17 per kilogram!!!
Walmart has GREAT price on honey in the bear type dispense ... we drink tea all year long, great price!! Also, I buy the HUGE bags of frozen fruit or smoothies or to thaw for breakfasts of desserts...great value! The large bags of rice also great price...
One very good cost saving measure is to just drink water (flavour with mint, cucumber or lemon and forget about buying sparkling water, pop at the store...unless we are having a birthday party or special occasion bottled drinks don’t come home with us. Isn’t water healthier anyway?
We keep tea at home for visitors, but I kicked the habit of drinking flavored liquids decades ago. Water is simple, everyone has it, it's free in restaurants, and it's much healthier than chemical or alcohol filled drinks. I'll have a flavored water occasionally for a change, but a 12 pack will last months. It really simplifies life, and grocery shopping.
My number one thing I always get at Walmart is their corn and black bean salsa. Walmart makes the best one, I have tried tons of other name brands, different stores, etc, it’s the best. Second is their Mac and cheese. It’s actually better than Kraft, which is crazy. We buy Kraft regularly too, when I’m at Costco. They are at least equally good.
The Panda Express Orange Sauce...cook some salmon in the air fryer then pour on top and heat for about 1-2 minutes...you won't be sorry.....soooo good!
My husband has a peanut butter problem and when I went to Walmart and there was nothing on the shelves I ordered 12 of the grate value peanut butter powder. I have had one on my shelve for years and it is still good.
Great Value frozen wild blueberries! I make a ketoish dessert by putting a good handful in a cereal bowl, sprinkling them with Splenda and a dash of sea salt, then covering them with (great value) heavy whipping cream. Stir and it’s almost like ice cream! My favorite!
I live for these types of videos. I get a certain type of feeling buying things on discount, ever since I was a kid. Gives me a the happy chemical feelings 😅😅

Also, your four ingredient bread has been the greatest. I now make several loaves each week and freeze like crazy. Your videos are so helpful and at 73, being frugal is really empowering. Thank you for all you do! Shelly
Buy the whole pork loin, cut into pork steaks. They can be steak or cut into stir fry strips. Also keep a small roast 1-2 lb. for oven or slow cooker.
Hi 👋 Maria how are you doing?
Great value frozen bell pepper mix is a game changer in my house.
Fresh bell peppers are not cheap. Even at the Farmer's Market so I will have to give that a try. Fajitas, add to pizza, so many uses.
At Aldi’s you can get spices for a dollar and the ones with the red lids are made by McCormick
Thank you. Didn't know that
My Walmart has been lower lately per pound for the frozen patties, so I've been buying these for a while now.
What a fantastic idea. Thank you for sharing.
The Tangy Smiles are really popular with my middle school students.
Get stuck in my teeth and after reading the horrendous ingredient list I will never buy
@@raeanna0 You're expecting fruit snacks to be healthy?
@@GSUShane a lot of parents think they are bc they’re called FRUIT snacks, some fruit snacks actually have fruit in them
@@raeanna0 you are right, some are better than others. I read the labels and choose better ingredient ones. I esp have to watch the dyes for my grandson who has adhd.
Great value everything bagel seasoning is about two bucks, I put it on eggs, avocado etc, lasts a long time too…so good!
I use pork loin to cut my own pork steaks (chops) keeping a portion at the end for a small roast. Only 2 of us.

Yes! Take and bake pizza's are the best! So much cheaper than ordering pizza. Pizza and the wings is an amazing combo
Since chicken legs are usually so much cheaper than wing, my sister always makes “ hot legs” instead of hot wings.
Hi 👋 Debbie how are you doing?
I found a market that has miscut wings on sale every week! They’re usually don’t even have that many messed up. I paid like $3.83 for a big pack.
My boyfriend refuses to get the smaller packages even if they're cheaper. He made investments when young and only believes his ideas count
Yes yes yes the Walmart garlic parm wing sauce is out of this world amazing. I use it as a dipping sauce too.
I love seeing other peoples regular and favorite grocery store picks. Always find something new to try.
Use the leftover buns for homemade garlic bread or croutons. Yes, I am from the generation that was told “ I can make you a better burger at home than McDonalds”, that wound up with a thick burger on loaf bread, lol!😂😂Didn’t realize back then how lucky I was!!!!
The pork loin we use to cut into pork chops at my work
Just came back from Wahl Mat shop and had to take a anxiety pill to take the price jump..We go twice month and WOW..Few stayed same and all i touched had gone up..In tourist area of N.H. and stock was good ,few gaps[ pasta low] .. Found Chic Wings down to 2.09lb so picked up 20lbs[ freeze em for wing nite]..I buy the same groups every time and what was 110.00 was 158.00..Bought stuff for the shelves but mostly day to day food..PREP TILL YOU CAN'T
the clear americans have aspartame, which tends to make my family sick, so we use the unflavored sparkling waters and add liquid flavoring instead of soda 🥰
wow, those flatbreads are almost $12 in my walmart! crazy
Fuji apple 🍎 is my favorite too!!
Totally agree about the Fuji Apple! The orange and cream flavored sparkling water is really good too.
My favorite is the peach because it taste just like what it says.
Black Cherry and Cherry Vanilla are delicious!
I’m hooked on the Black Cherry.
I also love orange cream and black cherry flavors =)
Great value Carmel rice cake..top with peanut/almond butter and banana. Great with oatmeal for breakfast or just as a snack.
I too got the idea of using ground beef patties for more than just burgers. Simple suggestion but it has been a game changer as I cook for one. Thanks
Great Value Greek Salad dressing is the bomb..not just on salad but I use it as a marinade on chicken and pork
Love the GV brand thin mints. We started buying the store brand tortilla chips during 2020 because of supply issues, and haven’t switched back. My husband actually prefers them and gets cranky when more expensive chips get subbed. (We have tacos and nachos a couple times a month)
Us too!!!! Love GV tortilla chips and we’re not switching back either.
Dollar tree thin mints are really good. Supply is hit and miss
Love GV lime tortilla chips my whole house preferences is these over name brand
@@tammywilliams4206 I will have to check my DT out. Haven’t seen them there before.
I live in Australia and I WISH our meat prices would even come close to yours. I just checked how much pork loin roast costs at my supermarket and it's $17 per kilogram!!!
Great Value Garlic Pepper Crispy Onions - on salads, sandwiches, as a snack. Yum.
And Lime also.I buy the bottle of juice.. Tastes like a Tonic n Lime cocktail w/out the booze
@@lukequigley121 yes! Lime juice is so good in water.
@@stormyweather2807 yes, tea is great to keep around.
Great value Garden vegetable cream chease and rye chips, also on tuna sandwich on a warm bagel.
Walmart brand of Girl Scout Samoas are the best!
Hi 👋 Kae how are you doing?
My number one thing I always get at Walmart is their corn and black bean salsa. Walmart makes the best one, I have tried tons of other name brands, different stores, etc, it’s the best. Second is their Mac and cheese. It’s actually better than Kraft, which is crazy. We buy Kraft regularly too, when I’m at Costco. They are at least equally good.
Fyi...Target has the best corn and black bean salsa IMHO. Give it a try! I'll pick up one at wm the next time I'm in town and give it a try.
The Panda Express Orange Sauce...cook some salmon in the air fryer then pour on top and heat for about 1-2 minutes...you won't be sorry.....soooo good!
Favorite Walmart brand wing sauce is Thai Sweet Chili Sauce. It is replacing ketchup in many of my dishes. Yummy!!
Hi 👋 Lyn how are you doing?
My husband has a peanut butter problem and when I went to Walmart and there was nothing on the shelves I ordered 12 of the grate value peanut butter powder. I have had one on my shelve for years and it is still good.
This sauce! Add pasta, shredded chicken, bacon pieces and heavy cream…. So good!!
I'm straight up ADDICTED to that triumphant feeling I get when I snag a smoking hot deal! So glad to know it's not just me.
I really like the GV string cheese and oyster crackers.
Christine and family have a great week have fun thanks from Oklahoma
I never worry about name brands for the most part and it saves a lot.
Yes love the idea of chopping the burgers up for ground beef . And I enjoy about 95 percent of great value items . I pick up the 8 oz bars of cheese for 2.00 each every two weeks !
You make shopping fun!! Your enthusiasm for “deals” is contagious. You remind me of me - in college I minored in Home Economics: Food Preparation; Nutrition; consumer Science; we learned cuts of meat, vitamins and minerals, and health. Fashion and design; Inteeior Desighwas the main thing I learned in college that affected my whole life.
I buy those pork loins all the time because they are boneless pork chops! Just slice them up however thick you like them, and they are way cheaper buying the loin than already sliced chops, hands down.
I am planning to go to Walmart this afternoon. I am so glad to learn of these deals. It makes my shopping easier! Thank you Christine:-)
Wanted to mention the coffee creamer I get it's the great value chocolate caramel and it's delightful and for my 2.98
The fudge covered peanut butter cookies are awesome!
The great value mint chocolate cookies they taste just like the mint Girl Scout cookies they are Double Vie sealed so I think I got that right so are the caramel ones with the coconut on the top
Fuji apple and Peach are my husband's favorite Water flavors. We have been buying this brand of flavored water for at least 20 years.
I live in MA and we don’t have alcohol in our grocery stores or Walmart. It’s interesting to see the states that do
Love when you go to Walmart!!
Panda's Orange Chicken--use nuggets! Almost like getting it at the drive-thru
You're speaking my language, sister! Thanks so much for all your great frugal videos!
Great value frozen Texas toast/cheese toast. Great with tomato soup!
I love frozen veggies and for the reasons you stated
Right next to chicken dipping sauce is a burger sauce that tastes like McDonald’s Big Mac sauce. It’s great for burgers at home.
I'd actually prefer oats in a bag because i like to put things in jars on my open shelves. :) I think it's pretty and you can see what you have. When it's in the canister i keep it in the canister and it's not as pretty hehe.
I LOVE your shirt! “I love big books and I cannot lie”😂😂 “Another brother can’t deny when a girl walks in with an itty bitty waste and a big book in your face...” 😂😂😂 Great video!!!
She ain’t wrong about that Fuji apple flavor. It is spot on.
The gv peanut butter fudge cookies are even better in the fridge!
I do the same thing with the ground beef patties. For me its usually because I forgot to thaw meat and the patties thaw really well in a microwave.
My WM store has battered fries- a giant bag for $2, and seasoned wedges for $2. They are amazing bc of well seasoned they are! Cheapest I've found anywhere for the size!
I live and breath Great Value Kettle Chips. I buy 4 bags every time I go in. They last me two weeks. I just really love that extra crunch that a regular chip can't give.
Love your videos! You are so helpful and so much fun. Wish you lived next door! God bless!
I love those peanut butter cookies
Hi 👋 Christine how are you doing?
I love the Fiji sparkling water! It’s my favorite too.
Yesss!! The great value chicken dipping sauce is SO good!
My favorite Walmart grocery items are lunch meats, ground turkey chubs and the $1 French bread (70 cents on clearance!). I also can't beat the price of the 28 ounce cans of tomatoes.
Love these tips- I appreciate your food storage/long term food storage tips. I finally took food storage seriously for me and my family after you made it seem so simple - purchasing a little at a time of what you already eat. Thanks for your content! It keeps Mom/food life interesting. 😎
Hi 👋 Anna how are you doing?
One cheap snack that I like is a vanilla sandwich cookie dipped in pb. It’s not super healthy, but I like it.
Paramesan garlic sauce is the best!
Hi 👋 Kathy how are you doing?
I just found the bag oats this week trying to find cheaper food. And I have some of the purple snap top containers from Dollar tree the biggest one they sell fit 2 bags of oats it. Thanks for the other ideas, love your frugal videos.
I LOVE buying containers at the dollar tree. Storage is LIFE. So I just love buying them so cheap at dollar tree. Anywhere else containers are not cheap. YOu can do so much with them and totally change your life. I mean it. Thanks for your input. It helped ME. I appreciate it.

The buffalo chicken one is fantastic
Hi 👋 Debra how are you doing?
I recently tried the Philly cheesesteak calzone in the deli. You have to microwave it for 1.5 minutes. I was surprised at how good it is! There is so much cheese and no red sauce.
The Walmart item I love and buy at least 5 boxes each time I go is the GV Gluten-free Dark Chocolate Granola Bars. They are chewy and delicious! Certified gluten-free and only 100 calories. Fantastic snack. You can find them in the little GF section, usually at the end of the canned pasta/mac and cheese or dry pasta isles.
