Dude that was a close call mate ...100% they were after your bike...well handled though 👏 And my thoughts with Kenny & all who have been affected by the latest Hurricane in the U.S 🙏
Luckily you went back willie I’ve heard London is a huge problem for stolen bikes 😬 hopefully the huge weather problems in Florida’ passes soon all the best to them over there buddy 👌🏍🤝
It sucks how these Dealerships still take peoples cash for depisits etc right upto the last day it's bloody disgusting they know they're going belly up.Don't tell their employees either who have the stress of being owed wages & finding new job.
@2wheeledwillie395 At home I use 3 Oxford Chains Gold & Silver Secure which take 2 cuts per chain & a Oxford XA14 Disclock with Alarm so 8 cuts all up that's about 3 saw blades & 3 batteries 🔋.The cheap Discklocks only have a 6mm pin you can brake with Hammer 🔨. Oxford XA14 Disclock has 14mm locking pin & they have to cut section out of brake disc to remove it while alarm is going.Chuck a chain in each pannier if got panniers the more you have the more cuts.
Not only that, but looking over your right shoulder, I think that your goldfish has been stolen 😮😁. Sorry, couldn't resist. I shake my head at the state of the UK just now. I am not coming back!
Hallo Willie. I saw Mindful Motorcyclist's video about the dealers and I commented on there about J W Groombridge closing down. I don't think they went into administration but the owner cited several reasons for closing the business. The owner, Keith O Reagan put a post on the dealer's Facebook page giving his reasons for closing as I've said and a farewell message to clients and friends of the dealership. Hope you are in a better frame of mind after your scare with the bike thieves and I look forward to more Rob stories. All the best to Kenny in the USA and of course everybody over there affected by the storms.
Insane about the attempted theft. I would have lost it if it were my Thruxton. Regarding the Hurricane a good portion of my remote direct reports are in the path I'm recommended they all seek shelter and just keep safety #1.
Steering locks are usually easy to break. I think that’s about as close as you can come to losing a bike without actually losing a bike. And one of the worst aspects to recent hurricanes in the US is that our government agencies are in complete disarray. They actually sent three pallets of electric chainsaws to a community that still doesn’t have power.
Excellent timing by you. Delighted you didn't get the bike nicked. Sorry for Kenny's problems. We had to vacate our house in a village north of Chiang Rai city due to floods. We had to wade through flood water for over two kilometeres. It got as high as waist level on my 5'7'' wife. Horrible to leave the house with water pouring in. We were lucky, though. I was able to get my three bikes to dry ground before the flood approached. The house only suffered 7'' of flood water and it's on two storeys. Nothing much damaged. Cleaned up well. The wife's sister-in-law lives in a bungalow by the river. She was away in Bangkok. Her house was full of water up to the ceiling. Everything she owns is gone. Well, apart from her bank balance. Always remember, look on the bright side of life. Nick
That must have been really tough for u and yr wife...the thought of her wading through waist high flood water is horrendous...glad there wasn't too much damage 🙏
Friggin scum! So pleased that you came back to your bike when you did mate. Well done, and nicely managed. I fear I would have kicked off resulting in more trouble! Re Milton, yep, we are generally v lucky in this country with our weather, although of course, we take it for granted and just complain about the rain. 😂 Well done, Webbo
I'm glad the attempted theft of your bike didn't turn physical when you confronted him and it turned out there was another guy there. Last year I caught and confronted someone scoping out my bike I think for stealing later. I started parking it in a better lot at work.
☹️ sorry Willie but l wasn't keen on your new hat in the vlog at first! 🤭. I know, l know... the subjects were serious but, l have to see humour in everything these days just to stay sane! Regards, Mo 😊👍.
I always put a lock on the rear wheel. If they pick up the front wheel because it has a disc lock on it, they can move it in a straight line but if the back is locked and they pick it up, if the steering lock is on its difficult to move it in a straight line, even if they break the steering lock it will still flop from right to left so makeing it harder to move especially trying to get it up a ramp.
Sad times in the motorcycle trade atm. It seems unbelievable the amount of dealerships closing down but sadly unless we see a new generation of bikers then I can only see it getting worse. I think you had a very lucky escape with your bike mate there are too many of these toe rags about who think they can just take other people's stuff even to the point of being so blatant about it in broad daylight. I hope everyone in Florida stays safe it looks horenendous.
Glad to hear your bike wasn't taken. We have also big problems with motorcycle theft in Ireland.I won't ride my bike anywhere near Dublin it's out of control
It certainly sounds like you interrupted them from steeling your bike. Those alarms are really loud, you’d have heard it, plus the van. Gonna have to get one of those chains that weights about 40 pounds and lug that around on the bike. 😬
Close call buddy, fate indeed! I've been down myself, I used to live in western North Carolina where many towns have been devestated by flooding from Hurricane Helene. Hoping everyone in Florida stays safe and avoids major property damage.
sorry to hear about the attempted theft - I'd be absolutely fuming, I do not know what I would have done, you can never tell unless you go through it yourself! on the dealer collapse, I've been to my dealership several times for services etc and have waited for my bike to be done and you hardly ever see another customer in the showroom - just the sales people - how do they survive?
25 years riding motorcycles in the Theft Capital of the World (Miami FL) the trick is you never ever leave your motorcycle out of your sight, I have wheeled it thru stores if necessary!! 😅
It's sad because I used to leave mine in central London overnight with nothing more than a U-lock years ago. Now I don't leave a bike here in a rural area, which kills the convenience of a bike to do errands. Stealing them and stripping them for parts, or to be sold overseas is a huge industry and thieves treat it as a regular job.
All my bikes are tracked. Two of them have a Roadlok system fitted. This will minimise wheel away theft. You would need to measure your caliper bolts for compatibility. They do fit most Brembo systems, but not too sure about the standard K brakes. A couple of hundred quid, but will slow a thief down.

There are bike dealer deserts already in the UK and sales are not exactly a daily event for most.Bicycle and motorbike thefts are not treated seriously by the police as they have had no money for the last 10 years to prosecute.
