Johannesburg Mountain - NE Buttress

Video of our climb on Johannesburg Mountain 10/7/23-10/8/23. Route description and gear at the end.
Overall found this route to be much easier and less sketchy than advertised. It was actually quite fun, and the technical difficulties were very achievable.

Climbed this in July 1999 with Jim Nelson and Bob Davis; photos in Jim and Peter Potterfield’s Vol. II. This route leaves a mark. 😂

Very cool! This route should get way more attention than it does in my opinion. One of the coolest options in the Cascade Pass area.

You should! It was not as scary as reputed. We just finished North Index, which a lot of people compare this to, and I thought that was much steeper and scarier.
