Mount Temple - East Ridge
Ian and I checked off another 50 Classic on short notice. I was able to tag this one day climb on to the end of a week-long family vacation. Nothing like a little suffering after a week off.
This time I am going to try posting the trip breakdown separately from this video, rather than attaching it at the end. I will link it on the end screen once it is completed.
GPX track and trip report can be found on my AllTrails.

Mount Index Traverse
มุมมอง 1.8K4 หลายเดือนก่อน
After many years of being intimidated by the cliffs of Mt. Index from HWY 2, Ian and I finally put on our big-boy pants for the traverse. After completing, I think this route is a classic. It is a great objective for tough WA climbers. Just make sure you have the necessary skills and are up to the task... GPX track and trip report can be found on my AllTrails. Mount Fairweather - Carpe Ridge
มุมมอง 2.4K6 หลายเดือนก่อน
Ian and I took a 5-day trip to AK to climb one of the big routes in 50 classics. We were the first to climb this route since the Smiley's 11 years ago. Mount Fairweather has absolutely amazing position only 10 or so miles from the coast, and the scenery was incredible the entire way up. We were the only people in the range for the duration of the trip, and we had pretty decent conditions/weathe...

Amazing trip and awesome footage! Is that a Wenatchee RRG sticker I see?
@@ashtontbd3491 yes it is
@@Eeelipclimbsright on!
Great video. Fairweather has always intrigued me after finding out about it.
Is this a different route from the Coleman-Deming Glacier route?
Yes, it is to the left of the Coleman-Deming route separated by a ridge (Roman Nose)
Thanks for sharing! Did you climb in your ski boots or bring separate boots for climbing?
@@bt5294 we climbed in ski boots. They work great for anything on ice.
Have you guys every thought climbing Mount Everest and any of the 14 x 8000 meters peaks?
Did this in 1969 as a neophyte in heavy mountain boots, with a down jacket for bivy gear and spent the night on the summit. Years later my wife and I did it, going light and did it car to car in something like 12 hours. We didn’t bring a rope and had some lightweight foot gear as well. On my first trip we descended Ullrich’s couloir for some reason, but I wouldn’t recommend that .
Great climb, great music!
Excellent climb, did it in August.
Just discovered your channel today. You have some amazing content.
Very nice to see this route in video form. Great job 👍
Thanks
RIP
Beautiful
You guys carried you're overnight stuff up and over to then end up sleeping down at Ingalls creek? Brutal, could have done it much lighter. Heard of a guy doing it in 8 hours car to car.
Wow! Way to go for it. Great video and climb.
Absolutely incredible adventure! Count me as a new sub.
Love this
Lol you have wannabe apinist in your page title and ticked off Fairweather and Alberta? Laughable! Yep. You're there brother.
Nice video! Brings back great memories of my own climb in 2004.
@@DougA597 thanks! Congrats on getting this done back in the day. I’m sure it was more of an adventure 20 years ago.
Awesome vid. Beautiful route
Bad ass dude. Did the north peak last summer long night of rappelling. Won't go up there again unless we are going all the way
@@Outdoorman32 thanks. North Peak just by itself was a solid effort!
Superb footage, thanks for sharing!
A Celebrity???
@@markduncan6690 Ian is actually quite famous outside of climbing
That's insane !
Literally infinite uphill
Check out the Fairweather video. That was infinite uphill
dope
No avy gear?
@@psg_ no, this would have been a good climb to take it, but our plan was already to steer clear of any avy slopes.
@@Eeelipclimbs thanks just wanted to double check since I didn’t see it in the gear list
Great job guys! Love the closing song!!
@@DJ-pp9yg Thanks! Me too
beautiful footage, so many memories of that rotten rock
Great video thanks for putting it together
Your videos are great man!! Super inspiring to see the level of climbing expertise too!
@@CS-zb3km thanks! Glad you enjoy them
Great video and climb. Love the relaxing soundtrack too. Very classy. Be safe! :)
Awesome work guys!
@@jacobmchenryphoto Thanks man!
Thank you for sharing footage of places that I think I’ll never be able to climb😂 I enjoy your video a lot. I take risk but you guys are so hardcore.
@@awlongman We aren’t too hardcore! Just trying to progress little by little
Fellow climber here. Anyone wanna try to climb it Labor Day weekend?
Flying drones in Wilderness areas is a no no.
Very impressive. Would be super cool if you filmed some of the technical aspects like setting up some of the raps and anchors
@@samuelbuettner1214 yes I’ve been trying to do that more and more. It’s tough to film since those are usually the more intense parts
Bad ass dude! I mean this in the nicest way possible when I say some of that looks heinous lol
@@ChubRockhard it was quite heinous😂
Legendary! Great video!
Awesome work. Middle/North are legendary blue collar climbs.
Thank you for sharing. It is a route I will never climb but always dreamed about.
Hi Eli. Great video. I'm heading to Alberta next month hopefully and have a few questions I'd like to ask about the route, climbing gear, etc. Would you mind answering a few of them? Let me know the best way to contact you or use my email address above. Cheers!
@@RickTaylor-i3z thanks Rick! DM’ing me on instagram is best. @eeelip
@@Eeelipclimbs I've messaged you on this. Hope you got it.
@@RickTaylor-i3z I did not. Can you try again?
Great trip breakdown! I oughta do this soon
You should! It was not as scary as reputed. We just finished North Index, which a lot of people compare this to, and I thought that was much steeper and scarier.
Have you actually seen any remnants of our camps?
No, when did you climb?
@@Eeelipclimbs 15th til 20th of may 24. Did you see our video (the other comment)?
@@UdoKellner Oh yes! You came up from Grand Plateau correct? We did not see your camp. And I have not seen your video. You should comment a link!
Hello Eli, really great film, top performance from both of you! The weather was mixed, which really enhanced the performance. We met on the ferry in May, which made me very happy. My film of our ski ascent has been on TH-cam since today, so I had seen your more spectacular film. My video: th-cam.com/video/ux5E6cJDxPQ/w-d-xo.htmlsi=kIPYtA3PcJ4MZP2H I love to see your other views of the mountain on the tougher tour and hope you like my film too. I will definitely share your film. Greetings Udo from Germany
This is a great video, but for those who don't climb, be aware that is clearly a climb with class 5 terrain. If you don't know what that means than you should not attempt thst mountain.
Awesome vid
great video - but - that music is so out of place/annoying.
@@connell212 It’s very tough to find free music that fits the specific vibe, so my selection is limited. Trying to find more, but this music still reflects my experience better than dubstep found in most other climbing videos.
Great job! You crushed it 👏 good job dad😅
Death wish without helmets on. Rocks are always coming down.
Thanks for sharing. I climbed Fairweather in 2007 with Mountain Trip. I didn’t film it just all photos but that’s the memory I have. Took same plane. Got very lucky with weather. Respect that you followed rules with drone.
