Muddy Hill Climb, Yeti Fur, and Steak Over the Fire: First Time Motorcycle Camping on My Property

- It may be fall, but that's not going to stop me from getting out for my very first time motorcycle camping on my own property! I've spent weeks building a private campsite on my new forested property and after getting it pretty much cleared out and building a tarp shelter, I decided it was time to try my first moto camping trip at the spot. I invited our friend Tim out to moto camp with me and we had a blast breaking in my new motorcycle camping site. Even though we ended up motocamping in the rain, the fire was warm, the steaks were delicious, and a good time was had by all. Motorcycle camping with friends is always a blast, and the only thing better is a motocamping trip on your own property, where you know you can cut as much firewood as you want and nobody is going to bother you.

Hint while using the fire steel. To keep from destroying your tender bundle and to hit the target, hold the striker steady and pull backwards with the fire steel. BTW: Don't worry too much about Squatch , only the ugly ones are dangerous. 😀

I have the same chair as Tim. I love that chair and have used it for years. I can’t believe he fell asleep in it. Hilarious! I guess with enough bourbon, it would make a great bed. 😅

Loved the video! Reminds me of my first camping on our property before we built our house (Years ago!). Just set up a new campsite last year & hope to do our first test moto camping campout there soon! We’re new to motorcycles and moto camping, but very excited about it! Hey just a suggestion for your muddy campsite. If you have a lumber mill near you ask them if you can have some of their sawdust or wood chips. About 2-3” of the stuff will keep mud at bay and vegetation growth minimal.
Yeah hay and straw work well too if you can’t find shavings

You can cover the mud with wood chips which may be obtained free of charge from a local tree service company. The chips can also help level out a couple of tent pads. Next time, grill a piece of meat for Chewy. I hate to see a poor dog having to beg for scraps.

As a Nebraskan I can tell you the top sirloin is a better cut than any ribeye. In my opinion.
Wood chips. They are perfect mud killers. I’m sure you have enough brush and tree debris from trail clearing to rent a chipper and cover the site. Keep up the great content. Hope to see you on the trails some day.
You should build 2 or 3 small wooden decks at your site just big enough for a tent and a chair for putting on your boots.

You need to get some chickens for your property. Nothing like getting up going to the coop grabbing fresh organic eggs and cooking them up on an open fire.

What is up with those hand guards? Wow! Never seen that, but I understand if you live in OR. I was up there for 6 months for work and I've never seen so much rain.
For some reason, I thought Tim lived in the Puget Sound area of WA when I met him (and you) at the Touratech Rally.
It's got to be nice having people local to you to get together and ride / camp with. as well as being able to ride most of the year due to living on the west side of the Cascades. I live on the east side, and it's cold now. The highs have only hit about 33-34 since the snow last Monday (11/7/22). Riding season here is over until at least April. 😞

The way that your chance of rain works is interesting. It’s not a chance of rain occurring necessarily. It’s your chance of experiencing it the coverage area. So if the chance of rain in your county is 50%, that could potentially mean that 50% of the county has a 100% chance of rain. Similarly if 50% of the county has a 50% chance of rain, they call that 25% chance. So if one corner of your coverage area has a really high chance of rain and the rest of it doesn’t, you could end up with a 6% chance of rain and get drowned all day.

Beautiful campsite! Have you been thinking of putting in some motion sensor lights? maybe the solar panel kind? I know you would have to clear a bit more space just for light but it seems in the morning it looks pretty clear!

Does anyone know for sure if the bigger set of rims and tires on the 2022 brozz recon will fit the 2020 recon without problems? Love the channel, btw! I’m long overdue for a camp out!😎

Looks fantastic. Last week, I wanted to get out and we had some ridiculous 25 mph winds. Not good for outdoor fires, or tent life.
Do you get any wind on your ridge? Or is it grown enough around it that it's not much of a thing?
We honestly get a surprisingly low amount of wind. We're kinda protected by the ridge on the West side.
Do you know if Tim was at he BDR Booth at the Overland Expo in Redmond last July ?
I think I met him there and he inspired me to pursue that.

@@TimothyBelitz I’m in SF Bay Area so what do you suggest? At the time I had a 650 VStrom but since have added a Husky 701.
@@rickreasoner8664 If you don't mind a lot of sand, the CABDR is right in your back yard, but I've heard it's challenging. I've only done the WABDR personally, but would definitely recommend it for a first-timer if you can make the commute up. You're in a great spot with a lot of options nearby, so I don't think you could make a wrong choice.
The 690/701 is the perfect BDR machine in my opinion though! I hope to be adding one to my garage soon!
@@TimothyBelitz The WABDR is do-able (maybe next summer). Isn’t the Oregon route coming out soon? I haven’t heard anything about the one in Southern CA. I’ll have to check it out. I’m making my 701 my “every situation” bike (although I don’t think I can give up my KTM XC 450).
@@rickreasoner8664 Oregon will be out next year! I cannot wait to ride it! And if your 450 EXC is anything like my 500 EXC I wouldn't give it up either :)
With all that acreage you should have room for a motocross track, or at least a practice adv trail.
