- So recently, #EggFriedRice and #UncleRoger 's review of it has been all the craze online.
Since Fried Rice is SUCH a staple, everyday meal in Malaysia- one that we've been eating ALL our lives, I thought "hey wouldn't it be a great idea if Uncle Roger reviews a fellow Malaysian's fried rice recipe??"
And here we are! This is my version of a very Malaysian style Fried Rice with sambal belacan, anchovies, prawns, eggs and vegetables. @@ShersonLianTV I will try to add anchovies but anchovies here in Manila are scarce but in the province are plenty. Anchovies have very inique saktiness in them that msg can't give. Thanks man for the recipe

Superb bro, this, the way Malaysian Nasi Goreng, all that dynamic tastes, anchovy, sambal/belacan, uniquely Malaysian. Uncle Roger 🤣 shouldn't be talking negatively about other people's fried rice, we should respect others for what they like even if they prefer their version of fried rice. Rice is enjoyed by all, no matter how you cook it, if it tastes good to you then it tastes good to you.

You know belacan? That's an ancient ingredient for umami taste before msg was invented. Most Malaysian mom doesn't use msg.
My mom says she doesn't use msg but uses penambah rasa. That's just msg with extra steps LOL

Im a Malaysian, so forgive me.... But i didnt know there are other ways to cook rice than using a rice cooker until i watched aunty hersha.
yeahh! we only know how to cook rice with the rice cooker 😂😂
I'm Indonesian, and I know how to cook rice with dandang, the thing before rice cooker era. But still it's similar with rice cooker than aunty hersha.
I cook rice both ways. On the stove and in rice cooker. But i prefer on the stove, faster
I cook rice on the stove if cooking for one portion (about 1/3 cup) but use rice cooker if cooking for more.

99% Asian fried rice.
Rice must be left in the rice cooker overnight and taken out the rice cooker when and then cooked as soon as possible to create umami flavour and not broken up rice grains.
