prawn crackers was a prestige crackers only been used on special occasion for some of us Indonesian. for daily we just fried our garlic crackers that cheaper. so yeah if those house hold have prawn crackers for daily im gonna assume its probably a rich household since prawn crackers was one of the expensive between all the crackers here.

I literally love Reynold so much I’m so glad this colab happened easily my favourite on both seasons of master chef he was on plus KOI looks incredible!!
Uncle Roger, there are 2 types of extra egg in Indonesian nasi goreng that really goes well with. It depends on your favourite. The 2 types of extra egg are: 1. The sunny side up or telor ceplok 2. Omelette or telor dadar. You can either have standard omellete or the one with fillings. After you beat up the egg, you add sambal or spring onions or chopped chilies, or all three of them. To make it even better, add more MSG. Fuiyooh I'm drooling just by imagining it
@@danieliezzwan5283 in Indoneaia, the "official" name of telor ceplok is telur mata sapi (cow eye egg). The sunny side up egg do resembles an eye, but I don't know where the sapi came from. This "official" name has already been around here for such a long time tho. Telor is how some Indonesians casually say telur, it depends on what accent he/she has And there's a funny saying in Indonesia. Dari ayam kita bisa buat telur mata sapi, tapi dari sapi kita tidak bisa buat telur mata ayam. From a chicken we can make cow eye egg, but we can't make chicken eye egg from a cow

I'm native Indonesian, actually there are pretty much variants of nasi goreng in Indonesia, not just darker coloured ones (usually from java as they tend to use black sweet soy sauce), the example of famous darker nasi goreng are nasi goreng jawa and nasi goreng aceh, for brighter one (orange colour usually from spices), like nasi goreng padang and nasi goreng kampung. This is my personal opinion on 'famous' nasi goreng after trying nasi goreng on Jakarta and Riau Island in Indonesia. Well the other famous cullinary that also well known in Malaysia also Satay (as in the past we are one, Nusantara), the famous traditional of satay in Indonesia are sate madura and sate padang (once again based on my personal opinion and experience). Basically almost every region has its own cullinary, some really similar and some don't, but nasi goreng, satay, martabak manis, pempek, mie ayam, rendang & padang's cuisine that can be found in padang house (rumah makan padang), ayam penyet (or bakar), green chily chicken (ayam cabe hijau, usually also can be found in padang house), pepes tahu (kinda like sausage tofu with spicy taste), tempe bacem (kinda sweet soft tempe), fresh seafood cuisine (although usually seaside or local seafood is good, can try to find cleaner restaurant I suggest for those who used to eat clean processed seafood), one of famous fired chicken trend few years ago, ayam geprek (but if you can't handle too much spices, you can try to ask to lower the level of spiciness, the other fried chicken alternative is that you can try eating ayam sambal matah for less spicy one), lastly you can try KFC in Indonesia (as you know KFC tend to varies and adapt to local cultures, from food anchors I watch, they say that Indonesia KFC has more flavor especially the sauce and fried chicken). That's all my opinion on the cuisine and local/traditional food that you should try in Indonesia, maybe some of my information is not perfect, but it's all my honest opinion from my experience of growing up in Indonesia.
This is the next level quality comments we need. Thanks for sharing the knowledge! The localised fast food is really interesting. In Thailand we saw local specials for McDonalds, Burger King and KFC.
Abit late comment from Indonesian here: alot of us makes "premade" paste for nasi goreng (or noodles), and that sambal is a spicy variation of eat. Faster than being prepared to fry fried rice is, scoop a spoonful and add rice & kecap manis 😂 And dont underestimate the smell or indonesian chilli frying, it can evacuates the whole house
My mom's nasi goreng also contains spring onions and meet instead of chicken... though I'm not Indonesian it's a recipe from a Dutch-Indonesian family/cook-book. Will try this fried-rice variant when I receive my new wok... as sorry Uncle Roger... I have induction-cooking now and my old wok turned out incompatible 😉

I am from Indonesia and Reynold Poernomo is right. We rarely deep fry our egg because we save on oil usage. We even used the leftover oil from the previous cooking because our people was so stingy wkwk
Same here
right. we save so much as we can and nowadays oil is an expensive item
Especially now we have Oil Cooking Crisis in our country wkwkw
Right. My mom, sister, and i usually use the same oil again and again from where we cook for breakfast to cook/heat our dinner. There's even a small bowl underneath our stove for a leftover oil just so we don't waste any oil
my mom has always saved oil and i thought it was so weird but knowing this is like common practice is very interesting.
I recently started watching Uncle Roger's video, but I find this one is the funniest😂 I totally get your sense of humour including those "stereotypical Asian speech patterns and pronunciation" (hint hint). I feel that he's entitled for because he's Asian (or Chinese decent with Chinese accents on Eng - though artificial). It would have been a problem otherwise.
Me too, 😂😂 I found him from Jolly (also guys from Korean Englishman) and he is so funny.
I just started watching Uncle Roger’s content and it’s the funniest cooking content I’ve ever seen. 😂
Welcome to the family Nephew Nasrun

I remember visiting an Indonesian home and I’m just surprised with the prawn crackers like mountains on the kitchen counter.
prawn crackers was a prestige crackers only been used on special occasion for some of us Indonesian. for daily we just fried our garlic crackers that cheaper. so yeah if those house hold have prawn crackers for daily im gonna assume its probably a rich household since prawn crackers was one of the expensive between all the crackers here.
Kerupuk is a must!
@@hanindhira No? The lady who sells crackers near my home sells all types of crackers with the same portion of the same price. I get a bag full of crackers for Rp5000 ($0.35 as of writing this) regarding the types of cracker. I might as well just buy that one because it has a lot more umami flavor in it compared to garlic crackers. Garlic cracker literally tastes like fried garlic with salt on it. Eating it a lot is unpleasant, it leaves a numb feeling in my tounge.
@@cmaxz817 what like Rp. 5000/kg?
try comparing the finish amount of 5000 garlic crackers and 5000 shrimp crackers then
@@hanindhira We can't compare crackers in kg. Let's be honest, it's kinda stupid to measure a big bag of crackers in kg since it weighs so light that it'll probably be 250grams or even less.
But I can tell you that the "fullness" of the bag is almost the same. they are close enough that I would just say that they're roughly the same amount.
I literally laughed so hard when Reynold mock at Uncle Roger. I'm sorry, am I the only one?
No you're not! 😁😁
Reynold just like, oh yeah i know you will mock me because of my induction stove
The Uncle Roger impression was quite good too...
Nope I laughed hard at that one! Even had to replay it several times lol
That shit was funny as hell
Never heard Uncle Roger been this nice to people cooking fried rice 😀😂

Uncle Roger, there are 2 types of extra egg in Indonesian nasi goreng that really goes well with. It depends on your favourite.
The 2 types of extra egg are:
1. The sunny side up or telor ceplok
2. Omelette or telor dadar. You can either have standard omellete or the one with fillings. After you beat up the egg, you add sambal or spring onions or chopped chilies, or all three of them. To make it even better, add more MSG. Fuiyooh I'm drooling just by imagining it
Same with us, but in Malaysia we called telor ceplok as telur mata
@@danieliezzwan5283 telor mata=egg eye ?
@@danieliezzwan5283
Indonesia : telur mata sapi
Malaysia : telur mata kerbau
@@swyntopia 'cow eye egg'/telur mata sapi (he means), Indonesian call it to another name of telur ceplok :)
@@danieliezzwan5283 in Indoneaia, the "official" name of telor ceplok is telur mata sapi (cow eye egg). The sunny side up egg do resembles an eye, but I don't know where the sapi came from. This "official" name has already been around here for such a long time tho.
Telor is how some Indonesians casually say telur, it depends on what accent he/she has
And there's a funny saying in Indonesia.
Dari ayam kita bisa buat telur mata sapi, tapi dari sapi kita tidak bisa buat telur mata ayam.
From a chicken we can make cow eye egg, but we can't make chicken eye egg from a cow

The fact that Uncle Roger acknowledged Marion made me happy as hell.
Please review one of her videos and give her the title of Auntie Marion because her recipes slap

Understandable they divorced, she didn’t sound very attracted to him at all.
😂😂😂😂😂
Chicken breast is the best part of the chicken though. Idk why uncle roger hates it. The other parts of chicken have very rubbery meat in comparison.

They always look more like art than a dish but the judges like them so I assume that also taste amazing, kinda hard to know through a screen
I just wanted to thank you for always captioning your videos. You don’t know what it means to people who are hard of hearing like us. We love your videos, and you taking this extra step shows how much you care for your fans. Fuiyoh!

Kudos for uncle Roger team, and gladly welcoming our fellow nephews to the team..
Surprised reynold didn’t find a way to make the egg yolk a perfect quenelle
I think in 5:01, Reynold smelled the scent of the smoke of sambal being fried. For me, that is the best smell ever!
It's the best smell ever. But 10 secs later, you sneeze like a demon.
@@hansnoor9637 true true... But you know, it's actually the sign that your food is delicious. Lol.
The comment is so long, I wanna read all but ended up just put comment 😁
niat bgt😭👍
This is the next level quality comments we need. Thanks for sharing the knowledge! The localised fast food is really interesting. In Thailand we saw local specials for McDonalds, Burger King and KFC.
CHILL
Abit late comment from Indonesian here: alot of us makes "premade" paste for nasi goreng (or noodles), and that sambal is a spicy variation of eat. Faster than being prepared to fry fried rice is, scoop a spoonful and add rice & kecap manis 😂
And dont underestimate the smell or indonesian chilli frying, it can evacuates the whole house
Reynold is such a talented chef and a great guy. He wowed us with his desserts the first time he joined MasterChef, but his comeback has shown how versatile he is as a cook - both his savoury and sweet dishes are all amazing 👍 More power to you Reynold. You deserve all the success coming your way.
Agreed. His Down to The Rabbit Hole and The n dessert still blow me away to this day. Really spectacular

I love how Jamie Oliver is casually being compared to the Hitler of cooking.

I like ramen for hangover food but any noodles with a salty soup base is great. The salt helps rehydrate because electrolytes and noodles are easy to eat and digest. That combined with chugging like 2 bottles of water works so well for dealing with a hangover for me.
To go from watching Reynold on Masterchef every week to now seeing him get roasted by Uncle Roger on YT. Dead@Reynold impression of Uncle Roger 😂😂😂
Cant stop laughing when uncle roger said "stop posing, he so full of himself. This nephew reynold look like a guy who go to the gym once a week but post it 5 times" lmao XD

Chinese sausage is freaking delicious, and I'm saddened it's not used in more Chinese restaurants in western countries. I never had it until I started eating at a Taiwanese place for a few years where it was a part of their regular lunch boxes.
