a 24-year old pregnant mare?! That's a bit old to be in foal. It makes sense she was upset to be there. Whoever bred a mare of that age is cruel and then to auction her off to boot. Poor girl.
@oldageisdumb Also the long flat back/rump and head shape. The color is another factor too, not that Warmbloods can't have color but the more striking colors of the white socks and large blaze are more common among DHs than WBs.
Girl, you are so close to me right now. Enjoy the auction. I’m gonna enjoy the video. God bless you and yes it’s been very cold here. Lol Floridians can die of exposure at 60°.
The skin on some of them look like a couple in my herd who have bug allergies and rub their hair off on trees. I’m in south Georgia and we have tiny gnats we call no see ums. My 3 year old Appy is especially sensitive to them and wears a full body fly sheet practically all year. Thankfully this cold snap has knocked the bugs out for a little while. I operate a therapeutic riding center if you’re traveling up through southeast GA and want to visit. General Coffee State Park is about 40 miles from me. They have horse trails and primitive camping on the horse side of the park.
Carmella, you don't want to be in VA right now. We just had 6 in. of snow earlier this week and the temps have gotten down into the teens. FL is much warmer right now. :) That Clydesdale looked skinny. I felt so bad for the minis that were being ridden by that kid. I think he was too big to be on them and that was just cruel.
They are stressed because they go from auction to auction and get injured in the transport. Many of horses have serious injuries that aren’t treated. They live in pain going from auction to auction for months until they final ship them to slaughter. Many are blinded, and can barely walk due to severe injuries and pain by the time they head to Mexico. If you don’t want your horses or if they are injured or old, please either directly sell them or give them the last act of kindness and put them to sleep. It is extremely unkind to put your animals through the auction process.
It sounds like you watch a lot of Horse Plus Humane Society but keep in mind not all auctions are like that. This is a much nicer auction and I seriously doubt kill buyers would be present or that these horses would end up there. They are much nicer than meat prices.
That’s cool your mom is there with you!! Bless her heart praying for all of them!! The Gypsys were definitely my favorite!! I might have to checkout Florida for a new horse!!! ❤😊
I may have an answer to the skin thing? One of my horses developed something that looked like that because of the fluctuations in humidity this time of year. The vet recommended a supplement and that's helped a lot.
I think partly economy and then also it being winter nobody wants to pay high and then turn around and have to pay for hay and feed during winter. I’m in Arkansas and winter prices drop and then early spring they start picking back up.
Oh you would love my Samson, big ol Percheron with a strong Roman nose. We love the auctions and BLM adoptions, so many horses to see. Oh we learned about the grey horse thing when we rescued the one off the interstate... it's a trait in grey horses that they just develop cancer which most of the time isn't harmful but always something to keep an eye on.
I think the economy and time of year have a lot to do with the low prices. I bet the prices will go up in the spring when more people are buying because they aren't as worried about getting their current livestock through the winter, ensuring they have enough hay, etc.
Carmella, you are such a good handler and you are such a good horse owner. I love you all soooooooo much! I think I will take a 15 or 14.5 hand horse. I love Marwari, Palomino, Appaloosa horses. I love Miniature horses as well. I love Mules as well and I wish I could ride a Mule but we don't find mules in India as much. I think I will go for a red roan. I will support you all forever. You are my favourite TH-camr. Please, be careful while traveling in planes because there were 1555 fatalities in 2024! I hope 2025 is way better!!! Do you love cows? If you do what breed do you like? All the best, be safe, good luck. God Bless You ❤❤💙💙🐎🐴💕!!!!!! Do you like English Saddle or Western Saddle, which one do you like more?
I tbink for Florida that’s a lower end auction. It may seem nicer than Virginia because we barely get any auctions but the eye goop alone would have brought down the entire vibe of that event. Doesn’t feel like a nice event based on what you saw. I think that’s why the prices were not great. Virginia doesn’t get much access to high end horses. Most people are getting OTTBs off the track for 3-7k. So in Virginia when we get a really well trained horse I tbink they sell high it’s because they are hard to find.Florida has more, so the price reflects that they have more completion.
I follow free spirit equestrian and she is going to many auctions, but the prices shocked me over there in florida, so low. But it's always a risk to buy on an auction, because you don't can make a good vetcheck. But a good complete vetcheck cost more than 1000$, so when you can buy at a low price you always can resell that horse.😊
@Binchickensoup 🤪 when you're cheated you can do same😘. But ii never saw Shae doing this, even when they're not cheap. One day she bought a gelding 14yo. But at home it was a mare 28yo🤣🤣🤣 But it's a very nice horse and she don't even want to sell her. That's real horsemanship.😍
@@joannesmartens9442 That’s a pretty poor attitude. So you feel if you get cheated that makes it ok for you to cheat someone else? Hmmm I think you need to take a step back and think that through
Honestly I would expect the horses to be cheaper there, in a place that has many horses and many buyers. Same as with any other market - if something is rare it's expensive, and vice versa.

Very Sad indeed
I hope someone takes good care of her.
I wish I could😢
Sometimes mistakes happen. But also if she's had a foal before it's not that bad for them
I’ve noticed the western world tends to breed horses well into their twenties (and start them at two, which is earlier than the English world)
0:52 to me that horse looks like a Dutch Harness horse, with its gaits and conformation.
My thought, too, with the head/neck carriage
@oldageisdumb Also the long flat back/rump and head shape. The color is another factor too, not that Warmbloods can't have color but the more striking colors of the white socks and large blaze are more common among DHs than WBs.

Heartbreaking for some of these horses

All of those horses looked amazing
If you want to meet a critically endangered breed, the Dales pony, my farm is just outside of Ocala. I have 5 Dales.
That’s cool your mom is there with you!! Bless her heart praying for all of them!! The Gypsys were definitely my favorite!! I might have to checkout Florida for a new horse!!! ❤😊
Carmella all you videos are so amazing! :)
49 degrees! Count your blessings.. We're living with -5 up here in WI!
What a adorable clysdale

Lots of palominos! Wow. Reasonable prices too. Must be off season after Christmas haha
Yes VA Horse Center prices are definitely higher. Thanks for sharing. Great video!!
Lil bitty Clydesdale 😍 We love a good ranch horse too! Come on by NC once it warms up a bit!
I wish I could take them all.😢
Was thinking exactly the same ..distressed me to see them like that
I absolutely love watching your videos ❤😊
The one named little Joe looks just like my old mini (ice) who was 34inches at his wither
I think partly economy and then also it being winter nobody wants to pay high and then turn around and have to pay for hay and feed during winter. I’m in Arkansas and winter prices drop and then early spring they start picking back up.
The horse at 5:19 looks like a mule from that angle
Good video
The first horse Dallas didn’t have black points- looked like a chestnut with liver chestnut tail ahah
Black is my fav col I do love your kids

I’m in Ocala where are you staying where was this auction
The Dutch Harness would not be as desirable as a Dutch Warmblood. The Amish discard a lot of them and they can be hot and not correct for dressage.
Plus, if they are coming from the Amish I would be worried about injury. They are not known to be kind owners
Second and congratulations on the horse🎉🎉
How do you find out about when auctions will be? I always seem to find out about them right after they happened
A 24 yr old pregnant Mare is something that should've been reported. That is clearly abuse.
Believe it or not, that is not uncommon in the western world. Google it
I know! It’s so sad! Someone I know had a mare who was 29 and bred her!!! I felt so bad for that old mare.
I love Roman noses❤
Unfortunately Ocala is known for selling sick horses.

It has to be the economy because having a horse in Florida is 2-3 times more than most places.
You will need a bigger r
Trailer if you buy ha ha

FIRST!!🎉🎉
Beautiful horses, I love Clydesdales. Pregnant mare? Little tiny ponies!
49 is not freezing. 32 is.
Maybe to her it is people body are different
That is the temperature when water freezes, and you’re being contrary for no apparent reason. You know what she meant.😂
Oh it's been 17 here all week and we're warming up to 20s in a couple days
@maribethcable9633 wow
