    Darron:
    It is obvious that you have an outstanding mastery of the compex logic of this setup and its flexibility.
    Not having used INAV yet myself, it was well over my head, but it was very useful to watch & listen for when I'm ready for this.
    You speak clearly, though perhaps a bit too quickly. It might be helpful to pause periodically to let our brains catch up with the logic.
    I'm elated that we have devs like you to work out this logic, enabling us to use it when we need it.
    Thanks. - Jim

      Thanks James. If you're just starting out, the most important part to understand on the mixer page is the output functions table. That's the key to getting the mixer and servo outputs set up successfully.
      Thanks for the feedback on the speed. I have kind of noticed it and will try to slow down with my speech. However, I won't add gaps for pauses. As these can interrupt the flow of the video for those who aren't so new. I have to cater to everybody. But, the pause button on the TH-cam player is always an option. And I hope the chapters are helpful if parts need revisiting.

      Thanks. What do you mean by more complex mixing? Adding flaps I've already covered. If you have anything in particular, let me know.
      As far as I know, a tail sitter VTOL has nothing special going on at all. You just sit a wing on it's winglets and give it full throttle.

      Sorry English is not my first language!

    • @MrD
      @MrD  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      No problem. To be honest, I don’t really know much about VTOL. I’m not overly interested in them if I’m honest. Most of them seem to be inefficient quads that turn in to planes with lots of extra drag. Though that tail sitter is really just a twin motor flying wing, which is a much better idea in my mind.
      That hovering could be done with skill. In the same way that 3D pilots hover planes. But that video definitely looks like stabilisation is involved. I’m guess in they using angle and have set it up in that orientation. Otherwise angle mode would try to level the plane. How you would transition from that in to regular flight though, I’ve not thought about.
      Its a cool concept, but for me personally, VTOLs just waste too much energy getting in to the air.

      @cmtetaboaco 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@MrD I know, I was not interested as well, but it could be handy to FPV as we could takeoff from a tree crawled space and than just fly over it all,…
      May be a mixer that allows a Bicol ter setting transitioning to airplane?

    Hey Darren, at 8:13, you mentioned putting climbing mode on a switch which would also require offsets. Do you have a video that describes how to set that up? I imagine that would be done on the radio mixer (not on Inav). Thanks.

    • @MrD
      @MrD  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The offset is so that there is more up than down. You'd just set that on the transmitter using weight or curves. There is a video on climbing mode th-cam.com/video/6PZ83l5BcS8/w-d-xo.htmlsi=diU3o67cpz33chmu

    Hi, Darren let me ask you a question, pleaase. I hear from every side that it is not a good idea to do any settings on a transmitter side and it is recommended to do all in iNav. Well, think if do some settings working only in manual mode then in could be OK. All, settings done in my transmitter can be limited to a manual mode. What do you think? I would like to do some mixes/settings in my Tx. Thanks

      @@MrD thank you for the response 🙂 I would like to control flaps on my wing plane in my Tx, it is easier. I do not want to do anything for other control surfaces. I used to have FPV camera connected to a servo and it was controlled via gyro. I used it for turns, so when plane turns to a side (ROLL) the camera moves to that side. I do not know if this can be done in iNav

    • @MrD

      I would do all the flap mixing in INAV.
      There is a feature for basic stabilisation like that for a camera. I think it’s called CAMSTAB. I’ll have to check in INAV. But there is something that should do what you want.

What should I do in that case, change the aileron channel to the Rudder channel in INAV, or do I just leave Rudder and Elevator?

  • @springpilot
    @springpilot 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Hello Darren, and thank you for a very informative video. I have two questions:
    1) I use Y-harness on ailerons to save an output servo. Do I get the same amount of stabilization with a Y-harness on one output servo as you get with a separate output servo on each aileron?
    2) You made some examples of how to use the INAV Mixer as the mixer on your TX. How will the mixer setup be mixing the elevator and flaps to avoid "ballooning"?

    • @MrD
      @MrD  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks 👍🏻
      Using a Y harness will give the ailerons the same stabilisation. The problem using a Y harness for ailerons on a glider is that you can’t use crow breaking.
      To combat ballooning, you could add a mix line to the elevator using the flaps control as the source. Check the direction is correct, then lower the weight down to something like 5%. You’ll need to adjust the weight depending on your airframe. So test with plenty of height.

      Both the main power pads for the ESC are the same. So it’s fine. You can use S2 too if you need to. But you would need to add a 2nd motor on the mixer.

    Is there a way to map servos 1,2,3,4 to outputs 1,2,3,4 instead of having the first two outputs reserved for motors?
    The reason I'm asking is that I'm repurposing an old drone FC (DYS F4 Pro, sometimes referred to as Omnibus), and it has exactly 4 PWM outputs for the ESCs but nothing else. Inav seems to reserve the first two outputs for motors (regardless if I delete them in the mixer) which leaves me with only 2 available outputs for servos instead of the 4 I need.
    Anyone know of a solution to this?

    • @MrD
      @MrD  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      No, you can’t remap in iNav. The pins are assigned in the target based on timers. Sounds like that fc would only work on a model with elevons.

      To be honest, It's not really user unfriendly. Mission Planner is far worse. There were a few things that could have been improved, that now have been. I think the biggest confusing thing left now is the "helper" image. If people look at that, they can wire the servos incorrectly. That's why it's important to use the table, not the image.
