    This was such an important study in 2011. Please rerun the test in 2018 now that so many gasolines have been Top Tier certified. While many news articles state the obvious: "buy Top Tier fuels" I have seen no studies that have researched and determined which of the Top Tier gasolines are the best. For example, Marathon had less than half the detergent content of BP, Shell, and Exxon in your 2011 study. Is Marathon now on par with detergent content now since their recent Top Tier certification?

    11 years later and gas is still the same price as shown here. About a year ago regular was almost $5.00 a gallon. I miss it when covid was at its peak. Nobody driving and 93 octane got down to $1.57 in my area. I don't understand why gas can't just be a set price for a friggin year! Tired of this up and down constantly.

    All my vehicles run Exxon 87 regular and I’ve always noticed a difference in fuel efficiency and power after each pump. I used to pump Shell regular but it seemed to be less efficient and less power than the Exxon gasoline. This is good to know although it’s old information because if I ever need to run premium high octane I’ll try shell and see if it gives me the same efficiency and power as the Exxon regular. If you run 87 go Exxon. If you run premium go Shell easy peasy!

      This may be true where you live, but in my area, we have one major petrol distribution center, it feeds all gas stations in our area, all of them, no matter the brand name.. So Whereas I am glad you have choices where you live, some areas are at the mercy of the individual station owners and their own business ethics. I normally use the same station every time I fill up as it is the best way I know to get the most consistent petrol for my tank, but that is not even 100% certain any more.

    • @Dubz0408

      @@issavibez394 Some stations just suck. Look at the points where the tanker fills their underground tanks. Some places have them situated where water can get in. Some direct injections cars are best run on Shell, more often because it prolongs carbon build up on the valves.

    I definitely noticed a difference when I switched from Kangaroo gasoline here in NC to Shell gasoline. My current car didn't smell like burning oil anymore out of the exhaust and my car actually ran a little bit better. It also got rid of some slight knocking in the engine of my old car and even made it rev more lively. TL;DR use high quality gasoline. It's like putting good blood vs. bad blood into your system. Only it's your car that will be suffering.

    These tests don't seem to make sense. There may be an explanation, but the results for both Exxon and Mobil fuel should be identical since they are one and the same. Perhaps one station is positioned/marketed differently, or the fuel tested came from different batches, but the results don't really add up. Also, these tests obviously aren't technically reliable if the tests only include results obtained from one fuel sample from each company's station.

    Ever since last year, I’ve been the biggest Sunoco convert. I was on my way back to Charleston, WV from my aunt’s funeral in Bridgeville, PA. I’d stopped at a Sunoco in Cannonsburg and filled up my 2012 Toyota Camry SE with their 87 octane (‘Regular’), and the fuel economy I’d gotten on the remainder of my trip was nothing short of phenomenal. Whereas my Camry had still been doing really well with my previous favorite (Exxon; 28 mpg), I actually got a stunning 31 mpg with the Sunoco. To quote a certain famous TH-camr, “Very impressive!” Unfortunately, we don’t have very many Sunoco stations here in WV, but when I found out that there was one not even 2 minutes away from my apartment, you’d better believe I started filling up there religiously. And you know something? My car’s acceleration actually got even better than it already was with Exxon! 😁⛽️🚘

    what’s crazy is I used to go with whatever was cheaper, but I noticed whenever I went to mobil and filled up I got better mpg and my engine seemed to run smoother. I thought it was just a coincidence, but I began using mobil exclusively despite price and noticed better performance. after doing further research and now seeing this video, it only confirms what I’ve been seeing. When I bought cheap non top tier gas like speedway or prime I’d burn gas a lot faster but I didn’t really connect the dots. I’m glad it wasn’t just in my head

    • @faschuck
      @faschuck 16 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      I’ve actually noticed this kind of thing as well. When I took a trip up to the Potomac Valley (Harper’s Ferry and Antietam) last year, I filled up at a Sheetz just a minute or so down the road from my hotel in Martinsburg, WV. While it wasn’t exactly bad gasoline per se, the one thing I did notice was that it burned much faster than the Exxon 87 I’d filled up with prior to leaving Charleston the day before. Meanwhile, if there was a non-Top Tier gasoline I would use, it’s Kroger’s. Nothing special, but not too bad either…

    • @MrClayFTW
      @MrClayFTW 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      make sure the kind youre using has PEA in it such as Gumout additives that is the most effective cleaning agent as it actually withstands engine temps in the combustion chamber.

    • @damienalvarez2957
      @damienalvarez2957 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Seafoam is what I'd suggest. Either that or Lucas. I wouldn't suggest Gumout. It works, but not as effectively as Lucas's products or Seafoam. Check out Chrisfix's channel where he experiments with multiple fuel additives.

    • @MrClayFTW
      @MrClayFTW 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Ryan Alvidres-Ivie youre a fool. Seafoam only works on two stroke motors. Seafoam has no PEA. Seafoam is a whole lot of white smoke and no cleaning.

    So difference is about 10 mg. of addictives between regular and premium. But price difference is $0.50.10 mg difference per 100 ml.Thats 380 mg per gallon. 380 mg. is 0.38 grams.My fuel tank is 20 gallons, so 20 x 0.38=7.6 grams of addictives per tank. But for $10 more in price difference between regular and premium. To put in perspective 1 quarter coin weights 5.67 grams, so for approximately for 1 coin of weight im paying $10 more.
    sounds like it not worth it, if only addictive is tacking into equation, but primium gas has better octane ratings as well.
    Does anybody know good fuel addictive that i can buy on my own and just add when fuelling up with regular gas? And im not talking about injector cleaners. More like piston cleaner....

      +albert johnson - Isn't this sort of easy to figure out on your own, though? Maybe not specifics, but don't you fill up from time to time at different stations and notice a difference in your car or the mileage you got with your tank of different gas? If you're a new driver, OK. But if you've been driving awhile, I find it odd (like the mom in this video) that people don't notice the difference in the gas they buy from different makers.

    Deposits only build up if your engine is hitting 280-300 degrees F. If you don’t drive hard, you shouldn’t have any carbon deposits ever. Likewise, you can clean your engine by getting it hot, over 400 degrees to melt away deposits. Make sure that’s right after an oil change.

There's also a website you can check out as well. Top tier gasoline. I use shell the most then Bp or Exxon and mobile as much as I can. But there all required to have a certain amount of detergents in there fuel. But top tier companies like chevron, shell, Bp, Exxon mobile and Valero go beyond the epa requirements.

    • @jmowreader9555
      @jmowreader9555 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      When you right, you right. And Brian is definitely right.
      In my area, all the gas - ALL the gas - comes from the same distributor, CityServiceValcon. (Yup, they spell it as one word.) If you go to their website, you'll see a little "retail brands" display at the bottom of the page...that has the logo of every brand of gasoline sold up here. Their plant has a lot of big tanks for the "raw" gasoline, or blendstock, and a lot of little tanks for the additives. If Jifi Stop in town A orders 5000 gallons of Exxon Regular, the terminal operator pours the right amount of Exxon Regular additives into a truck and fills it up with blendstock. When the driver gets back to the terminal, he can mix up a batch of Texaco Premium, or Mobil Midgrade, or whatever they need.
