I like both ideas! I'd probably put the numbered pages in the denim book and coffee dyed pages with lace edges in the paper book. With Barbara style ephemera in them, of course! I know I'll love whatever you dream up! TFS🤗
Beautiful covers. Today's Quote: "Kindness is the sunshine in which virtue grows." - Robert Green Ingersoll. Iagree with the others, sewing paper, tissue, newspaper, paper sack. The blue jeans one would be great with fabric. Huge hugs. Namaste 🐞🐞🐞
I know it's quite a while past the posting of this video, but I'll comment anyway. I think, if you want a softer page (s) for these soft covers, a thinner paper with fabric on one side would be nice. I've made cloth books for kids, and they are a bit too unstructured, which makes me think that a combination of the cloth and paper would be nice. Thanks for sharing these awesome techniques with us! Hugs! Peggy
I was so hoping you would just sew the snippet roll on at the spine and leave it so you could flip it so you could see both front and back cover! I think I like this a tiny bit more than the denim one, both are so cool! Super inspiring video again Barbara! I just love when something unexpected happens, it’s so sweet when you are delighted with what happened!💕🇨🇦
I did not think the paper one was going to turn out that nice! It is awesome 🤩 As always, you are so inspiring. I love when you just go for it and deal with any issues along the way. And you just keep trying. I love the papers you made. I agree though that they would look good scrappy. So you could scrappy them up a bit? Whatever you decide, I’m sure it’s going to be gorgeous! Hugs 🤗❤️
I can see momigami paper in both of these. It has a very distressed look but soft at the same time. It’s on my list to try soon. But it looks fairly easy in the videos I have watched 😊
Tough call, Barbara. I like the numbered signatures and like them better in the denim cover. I'd use vintage papers in the waxed journal cover. Both journals are going to be superb when you finish them! Thanks for sharing.
❤ …fabric pages for the denim cover and packaging paper for the waxed cover… can’t wait to see the finished journals! They are beautiful covers! Thank you for sharing!
Sister, I liked the pages Barbara made for the denim cover...packaging paper and other thin paper would be nice in the waxed cover. Barbara, I love those covers you made. I especially like the waxed cover. Will have to try it...thanks for showing how to make waxed paper!
love, love; love this! It's the most unique cover I've seen in a looong time! It made me think of Baklava! lol maybe for pages - it needs more pattern paper pages - the colors will work and the textures will feel lovely.
Junk Journaling couldn't go better than this! Are you brilliant or what! Finally some more use of pattern paper and yes 8 layers even more use of them! Thanks Ms. Dragonfly!
Oh my gosh how gorgeous is that cover!!!!! I thought I loved the denim one but when you put that snippet roll on top of the paper one, my heart melted ❤❤❤. I loved the pages you made too, those numbers are just gorgeous. However, I agree they don't go with either cover. IMHO I think the denim one would look cool with pages that look like street art and the paper cover with pages that have vintage vibes and lace etc. Maybe the numbered pages would be better in a journal with a larger spine so you could add other pages between the watercolour ones. Whatever you do, I'm sure it will be amazing. It always is ❤ xxx
I love both covers, they feel so different from each other. The waxed cover is my favorite and with the snippet on the cover it is so beautiful. You are right, it does feel vintage and maybe even feminine. I am looking forward to what your choice will be. Thank you for sharing.
Oh my goodness Barbara!! How utterly innovative!!! I can't wait to give the paper cover a go - I have my tea-bag snippet strip ready and waiting. But, wouldn't you know it, I'm on a mini-break in the NZ Alps with minimum crafting supplies, so I will have to wait until I get home. 🧡💚🤎
@@allisonjames2923 No skiing for me - but, yes, there's snow and it's very cold. However, I'm staying at a Nature Research Centre, which is nice and snug. 😊🧡💚🤎
Wax the pages for wax cover. Sew around the sewing tissue first and then wax it. And sew ephemera and such before sewing in the signatures. Keep it all in the wax theme.
Lots of great suggestions here which I can't add to. Just wanted to tell you I loved the slashed denim, but the paper one is a WoW! Waxing paper: genius! And those watercolour pages are my perfect palette! A perfect video for me! If i was forced to complain: it didn't last long enough 😂🎉❤ thank you
A very special journal sweetie 💕 I love that idea of making your own waxed paper, the cover is gorgeous. And a good decision to not finish when you're not sure 😊
I feel the one cover is more vintage, almost shabby chic in a way with the lace and softness. I love the idea of pattern paper as mentioned in the comments and more vintage pages. I do also feel the other inside pages you made are just a little too modern and clean edged, as you stated. I love the idea of fabric hinged pages in the blue jean slashed cover. And I think both projects are going to be wonderful. You making amazing journals.
Love this… specially the waxy paper. I’ve seen other techniques where they use baby oil to make wax/transparent paper, but the baby oil never dries…. Making an eternal mess. Thanks for sharing this idea ❤
Such a perfect use for your snippet roll. This Journal is turning out beautifully and very arty! I am going to rewatch the snippet roll on teabags next. I have been meaning to but, you know. It's such a beautiful result, I want to try it! Thanks so much Barbara!
I love your numbered papers with your slashed cover. I read some of the comments here and I think I might be the only one. Lol. The colors complement each other so well. And I love using watercolors and not just distress inks. Love both slashed covers. I couldn’t see how the slashed paper would work. But this technique was so cool. Anyway, I love the numbered pages with 3 signatures. ♥️♥️♥️
As always I love your videos and can't wait to make a slashed journal cover. Use 3 of your already prepared watercolor papers a long with other papers to make 3 signatures. Rough up the edges of the watercolor papers with the edge of a pair of scissors. If the bright white of the watercolor paper is bothering you dye them with tea or coffee.
I love the waxed cover with the shredded papers. The colour and texture is beautiful. Maybe you could add some thin coffee died paper with small collages using the teabag snippet roll. Thanks Barbara. I know you’ll figure it out and we’ll all love whatever you decide. 🤗🇨🇦🤗
I love the idea of both of those covers they are really interesting I am like you I wouldn’t be able to decide what to put in them The pages with numbers on I’d like them both covers❤ but you have to decide what you like best
If I may, I actually like these papers in the denim signature... the contrast of denim blue and the white makes a nice color combination. If you want to keep it in the paper slashed cover... maybe add some coffee splattering/smudging so it's less pristine white (it looks very stark white still on cam, despite the interest you have already added to it). As for ripping up the edges... you CAN def do that eventhough you have stitching all around, it will only add to the raggedy :) but maybe it will become too raggedy to your likings ^^ Looking foward to the follow up and decisions you make on these!
Das ist ja wunderschön. Ich bin total begeistert, und werde es auch versuchen, so ein schönes Cover herzustellen. Vielen lieben Dank nach Österreich🥰🥰🥰

WOW both covers are stunning I couldn’t choose between the two. Love the paper and wax cover. Not waxed before so I’ll try that. I enjoy all that you do. Your work is so unique compared to everything else out there xx
Barbara, what beautiful covers. I agree with everyone, some sort of tissue paper or pattern paper made stronger for the pages. And then torn edges. But you always come up with great ideas so I know whatever you come up with will be gorgeous! TFS! ❤
Love how the wax cover came out. Can you attach several tea bags to make a large paper and then tear them down to the correct page size? Might be cool and would tie to your snippet roll. Can’t wait to see what you do. 😊
Great technique for waxing paper, I'd definitely get it everywhere🙈 lol no sudden movements🙊. The wax pellet method was much messier than this. That looks awesome 😍so cool! So yummy with the snippet roll on there😍. I'm thinking fabric pages with tissue sewn together then tear hole in the tissue for pages, maybe? I know you'll make it gorgeous 😍. Tfs and have a great day 💖💖💖
Must admit, the thing I loved most about the denim cover, were the colours peeking out. So I was kind of hoping you’d layer colours in between. Maybe with an opaque paper that’s a similar colour to the covers so the in between bits would still show the effect of the map, but there would be lots of colour peeking out between rows. Of course, you could also just dab the tissue layers with distress sprays/inks to get some cool colours (you’re still cutting so I don’t know if you did that
The cover is actually beautiful the way it came out, especially with the snippet roll decoration. Some random strings of beads & crystals in neutral colours would make it absolutely perfect though. As it looks so delicate with its translucent layers, lace & threads
I actually love the numbered papers in this neutral book. They share the vintage look colour wise and the more structured pages are a great contrast to the softer cover. To marry the two further, I would add some lace tabs/embellishments to the pages in creams and whites. I would also rough up th edges of the watercolour paper with a knife to soften a little. Thats my 2 cents!
Dear Barbara, I like both cover and I like the signatures. But I think that the paper cover needs signatures in Boho style. That will be beautiful with the cover. The modern signatures matched good with the jeans cover. Thats my mind. 😘 Love you Barbara ❤ greetings from NOE
Love both of these covers. I’m sure whatever you decide will be wonderful, can’t wait to see what you choose! ❤ Thanks as always for the inspiration!
Softer pages would be great in this waxed cover - sewing pattern paper sewn together with lots of lines of sewing or random stitching. What if you waxed different thin papers or a lace that has a tight pattern (not too many holes)? Decoupaged napkins, paper covered with baby oil, fabric, lace, etc. It would be fun to experiment.
I love both of the covers I'm definitely going to try the wax paper method. The inserts seem to be very thick card - maybe that is the problem not the look or decoration of them but the weight of the paper inserts for the vintage map book cover.
I love the signatures, and that cover you created is amazing with the lace. But you are maybe right that they don't quite go together. They almost do. The colours of the signatures and cover work together, but the watercolour paper is perhaps what doesn't work for you? Maybe a ligher paper? You will make the right decision whatever you choose. You are so creative!
Hello Barbara 😊 thank you for sharing. I learned something new. This is similar to melting old crayons for projects. Also, an old cheese grater would work really well for shaving the wax. 😢
The pages need to be a much more delicate material in the paper journal. Like maybe, tissue, vintage book pages, handmade or mulberry paper... I actually thought the ones you prepared worked well with the denim cover. I also think on the pages you had prepared, it would work well if you stamped the even numbers on the reverse side of the pages 😊
Wow another great project. Love the cover and the signatures. Maybe you can use a paper distresser tool to make the edges of the pages inside be more raggedy to match the cover?
Great idea. Maybe you could use more sewing pattern paper - 2 papers stitched together to make 1 page. Or packaging paper. All torn to the size you want them. 😊❤
I think perhaps you need some softened coloured/printed/stamped vellum pages (I get a beautiful translucent vintage green colour vellum from “Which Craft Do You Do” in Australia) & a page made from a few sewn layers of sewing patterns/tissue paper, perhaps with an inner layer of copy paper to give it some strength, some waxed & Momigami treated pages & even a lace bordered/lace/sheer fabric page. Aiming for translucency, subtle vintage colours, gold & Pearl shimmer effects & softness/pliable pages throughout to fit with the beautiful cover 🤔 Can’t wait to see what you do. This cover makes me think of a Tattered Angel for some reason
Love the cover. I actually like the contrast of the cover and papers you made. Wondering if inking the edges would help? Anyway you do you! Thanks so much for sharing! Now waxing paper is on my art bucket list. ❤
That was my thought too. The old and new, soft and stiff are friendly opposites. Adding to the stiff pages could possibly tie it together to suit your taste?
I loved the idea of the stiff papers inside the soft waxed paper cover! An unexpected SURPRISE❣
I like both ideas! I'd probably put the numbered pages in the denim book and coffee dyed pages with lace edges in the paper book. With Barbara style ephemera in them, of course! I know I'll love whatever you dream up! TFS🤗
Loving this cover…denim is one of my favorite materials.

Love both covers. Will watch with interest how they evolve.
You certainly had my interest the whole video....I wasn't sure how this would turn out but I love it.
Oooh, this is prettiest journal cover ever! It would be beautiful with tea dyed fabric pages and embellished with paper and laces.
Thank you so much! ❤️
I like the contrast of the two textures. You can then control how much raggedy texture to add to the inside.
I did not think the paper one was going to turn out that nice! It is awesome 🤩 As always, you are so inspiring. I love when you just go for it and deal with any issues along the way. Barbara: boy , this is going to be something. One in fabric and one in paper. “Cousin” so to speak. Carol from California
I absolutely love the watercolor pages with the raggedy cover!! Am I the only one? I'd buy that!
Im not sure that pattern paper would be robust enough. Im thinking vintage music paper might work with collage. Fascinating process
