  • This video explains why you need to know all of the specs for the bits you'll want to use with your brand-new CNC machine. If you would like to help support my channel and get something cool in return, please consider the following:

My momma said there'd be days like this, but she never told me about CNC router bits. Thanks for the info.

Thanks again Chris for your insightful videos for me I will just need to figure out what bits that will work best for me.
Plus looking at the picture of your machine gives me hope that yes I can still use a chain but find a high quality chain for even a cheap Chinese made machine since it seems like for cncs they are all Chinese now.
And even the controller boards with the exception of the longmill mk2 from scienci labs which is canadian for me I know I will need a 4080 using metric terms.
I found a 4040 but I know I will have to extend the base and upgrade all the rails to stronger sturdier rails and longer rails to get that size I need plus upgrade the steeper motors to nema 23 motors or better I know a 300 watt spindle is enough power but a water cooled spindle is more ideal so the bits do not overheat and over 2 kw is plenty of power on a water cooled spindle.
It's just frustrating that the only option at a reasonable price is to get a Chinese machine tear it apart and order all the parts you need to modify it into a 2 grand or more machine. Which in realty in parts is maybe another 300 to 400 dollars in parts maybe 600 on top of the 345 dollars you spent on the machine but that's better than spending 2 grand upfront plus the additional 800 dollars for v carve pro when you can do it all for 1700 dollars maybe 2 grand with v carve pro.

An interesting bit is a "Compression Spiral Router Bit" for minimizing tearout. Basically an up and down cut bit in one.

They’re designed for making full depth cuts in one pass. I rarely have the opportunity to do that type of cut.

You are correct Chris. Mom doesn’t know anything about CNC bits or machines.
