It's great that the director and SFX crew went back to the old school style of the Predator's thermal vision, but it looks like it was going off of the AAA games that have thermal vision features especially the Sniper games by CI, as the games when you look long enough at your targets, they're tagged to your HUD and displays information about them
@@Pandamasque the first few movies were made in the 80s and 90s so the thermal is nowhere near today it was supposed to look like that in the older ones but like i said better tech now
It wasn't an old tech predator. He was a young hunter. They sent him to Earth for his first trial, he doesn't get the good tech until he comes back with a trophy
One thing I like about this predator over the others,is this one seems more realistic then the others, like if a predator made it to earth, this is what they would really look like.
What is more realistic about him? The fact that he comes to an atmosphere alien to him with a mask that doesn’t even cover his mouth and breathing? The fact that he somehow has a more advanced cloaking device than Predators in the future that doesn’t short circuit when covered in water? Or the fact that he uses a primitive bolt gun despite being a race that has already mastered interstellar travel? Or the fact that he’s the only Predator to sport literally zero armor despite his purpose on Earth being only to pick fights with the native life forms? Look, the design of this Predator is cool overall, but it’s very style over substance as there was little thought put into his design in terms of practicality or logic. In that sense, I consider him among the least realistic Predators.
@@windowsVD He comes from a completely different place;he doesn't have much in technology compared to the others. His mask is bone while the others are metal.they should've made his thermal vision black and white though and not colors.
@@galvinstanley3235 His race has mastered interstellar travel and even has a more advanced cloaking tech than others. They’re clearly still very technologically advanced. Like I said, it’s all style over function, very little to do with realism.
@@windowsVD Interstellar technology to them might be as simple as building a car then driving it.That technology would be advanced for us but very easy for them.
@@galvinstanley3235 How is that supporting your argument? You’re proving that they have more than enough resources and technological means to show up in far more advanced and practical gear than presented in this film. A space faring race with a culture built entirely around combat would absolutely have developed advanced armor and energy weapons. The fact that this one does not have them means that the priority was aesthetic and style, not function or realism. I really don’t think you’ve thought this one through.

The old sound effect from the first movie is a great nostalgic throwback to add in

I love on how it identifies targets 😲
Three dot reticle.
Prey has the best version of the thermal vision since Predator/Predator 2
I agree!! there was something about the first use of it with the dog and the rabbit that made my heart skip a beat!
And this is supposed to be a prequel set in the 18th century. So their tech really went downhill.
As for the color palette, AVPR did a nice job too, but they used the thermal shots the wrong way

Interesting that in the XVIII century Predators had better quality thermal vision than in the XX century (original films).

It would be hilarious to watch a modern Predator movie and then when he switches to thermal vision, the quality reverts back to awful 80s blur.
Because in the 80's thermal technology was nowhere near what it is today.

Maybe the first Predator was using old shcool tech , he didn't even had a spear all he had was the wrist blades and plasma gun, he was old school

The should've used black and white thermal instead of colors, that would show how old this predators technology is.

Hides behind a cloaking device and shoot a prey, that doesn't know it's being hunted, in the back.
Very honourable and brave.
The predator in the first film also liked to shoot in the back.
This Prey is a complete disaster. Trachtenberg must not be allowed to make any other sequel or prequel. Disney is ruining everything.
