This movie is sooooo underrated, it was never given the credit it truly deserved, I loved every second of it, not to mention its great cast
It was a good movie and had a good basic concept but it was all overshadowed by the hate people had for it introducing the new super predators, if they had just not made a new sub species of predator and instead just had the civil war be between two standard predator clans the movie would be far more liked amongst the fanbase

Yes, Classic Predators are superior against Super Predators. Only Super Predators have advantage in strength and durability.
I love how The Predators are an alien ‘antagonist’ that have far more depth than any other extraterrestrial villain.
Aliens are either mindless drones that just kill indiscriminately and sweep over humanity like a virus (Alien, Starship Troopers, Independence Day)
Or a super advanced race that we don’t have a hope of countering who have targeted us as some kind of ‘greater good of the universe’ (Mission to Mars, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, Signs, War of the Worlds)
Then there’s The Predators…
Yes they hunt us for sport, but they don’t _hate_ us or target us _specifically._ They’re smart enough to have an honour based society that is inclusive of other races that anyone can join if they prove themselves. They can be reasoned with and can be peaceful in certain situations. They are just as terrifying as the Xenomorphs and yet you find yourself empathising with them and even rooting for them. They are the best alien villains in Sci-fi movie history!

They basically have the same relationship with humanity as we do with 'lesser' animals. Every fall I go hunting to find a kill a desirable deer, but I don't see a deer in June and be like "A damn deer? Shoot it!", no, I'm feeding them lol. They have no concept of what I'm doing or why I'm there.
It's like if you kill the queen in a bee colony, you've just destroyed an entire society, a thriving 'civilization' where hundreds of thousands of individuals work tirelessly using math and geometry to pollenate flowers, create honey, and grow their young, dead with her loss...to you all you did was squash a random bug and go about your day with little to no care. To the bees, some unknown and unknowable outside force beyond comprehension just capriciously ended existence for you.
@@RobertMorgan exactly! It’s the same as if a human were to encounter a wounded/trapped lion or tiger. Normally, it would either have you as a snack or just tear you apart for fun. But if you carefully show that you are not a threat to it and help it out (patch it’s wounds or release it from the trap) then there’s a high chance that it would show it’s gratitude somehow and leave you in peace. Predators do that pretty much once a movie.

The berserker predator probably tortured and humiliated this jungle hunter and Royce gave him a chance at redeeming himself and get his revenge so I just like how he gets infront of Royce to protect him and holds his end of the bargain. Go Jungle Hunter!!
The Predator Royce freed is from the Jungle Hunter Clan@kwaliwilliams7994 , which is at war with the Super Predators. The captured Predator was based off the Predator from the original 1987 film, and it's implied he comes from the same clan.

Prey has potential
avp and avpR are leagues above this film and a little better than the first predator so much great action and musical scores in those movies that this film couldn't quite equal
There is always that one good predator who protects everyone
Most predators are sort of like that. The predators follow the Yaujta Honor Code. Pretty much like it sounds. One of those codes is that if prey spares or saves, you must treat that prey as an equal hunter.
The other Predators on that planet are called “Bad Bloods”; basically criminals. They don’t follow the honor code which is punished with death. The predator Royce saved is a normal predator that was hunting the bad bloods (before getting caught), which is why he spared Royce
All predators can potentially be that way unless they are bad bloods. They don’t actually hate humans. It’s all sport to them. You kill one or prove to be an ally, they will leave you alone or help you
That's what I like about what the films have established about the Predators. They have a sense of honor. Here the Predator understood he owed Royce for freeing him and gave him what he wanted.

Laurence Fishburn nailed it in describing the types of predators, like dogs and wolves. This was a fight between a Grey Wolf and a German Shepard.

@@troyjohnson1186 No, this predator was hurt too. There is a prequel comic showing him fall for booby traps made by Drake - the dead soldier from the movie. He was hunting Drake and Drake and Nolan teamed up to defeat him. I won't say more, so I won't spoil a potentialy good story for you.

One of the things I like about this film is the fact that there are two types of Predators. In my opinion it add a additional layer of Anti-Hero to the Story!
I love the fact that the jungle predator looks over Royce's face to see if he has any marks on him to show if he is friend or foe and the fact he doesnt the predator can place his trust in him such a good detail that some miss.
The Crucified Predator wanted to make sure if Royce was being Honest & Is able to trust him.
The reason why Crucified Predator did not allow Royce help fight off Berserker Predator was because the fight was personal. He also wanted Royce to escape unharmed. Though if these two teamed up against the Berserker he would have lost. Crucified Predator was dehydrated & starved, So he wasn't able to fight effectively and Lost the fight.

From playing Predator: Hunting grounds, there is audio tapes you unlock through leveling and one section is "ISABELLE TAPES" and she mentions Royce becoming a human predator. The predators marked royce because he killed the predator hunters and survived for so long, They saw him as worthy and gave him predator armour, tailored for human. Royce took isabelle to a landing site so isabelle could escape back to earth on a skiff. Royce told isabelle that he liked hunting humans and decided to stay. So royce disappeared with the ship and that's the end of the story.
This by means, Royce and Isabelle were have fully respected and members of Jungle Hunter Clan.

Royce knew he’d never change. It’s why he remained ruthless and didn’t get betrayed by the psycho in the end. He never lost his thrill of hunting men, only his reason to do so. Even working with the other survivors was just so he could get off planet, as he betrays them in the predator camp.

Love this movie just hate the fact they killed this predator off quick. When I saw him get cut down I was like "oh yeah payback time" then he died. Somewhat disappointed but still enjoyed the movie.
Well he was tortured and chained up for a long time by the other predators. So he’d be tired and a little weary by now. And the other ones are more dominant. He still put up a good fight
First off, he was a lesser predator compared to the three Bad Bloods, hence the scene, "the big ones hunt the smaller ones."
Secondly, he was already in a weakened state having been chained there for who knows how long. That predator didn't really stand a chance.

They're naturally bigger and stronger, but the yajuita we've come to familiarize would always put up a good fight even tho 8/10 times they lose, it's always a good fight with blood on both sides

No. That would be a bad idea because Royce doesn't have any guns only a machete. Plus berserker plasma bolts are extremely powerful. It can fires multiple shots without recharging it. That's why it's dangerous for Royce.

Also, the predator's reaction at 0:47 to Royce unsheathing his knife was almost like a taunting "yeah, what will you do now with that big knife, tough guy?".
Derek Mears playing a Predator is so awesome. His career just must be a blast- work with insane talent while portraying iconic monsters. Helps that he seems like the nicest guy in the world too.

The Predator grabbed him by the neck because he's checking if Royce was wounded or scratched, also a litmus test if their rescuer is not gonna stab them in the back. According to the Yautja Code of Honor, if their rescuer is injured and debilitated, one must assist their rescuer to even the odds until they made their part of the deal.
Yes Predators are scary, but if you get on their good side, you'll have a powerful ally.
He wouldn’t just check his face if he was looking for injuries and there is no such rule in the honor code. There is one about how you must show respect to someone who has shown you mercy in a fair fight, but they didn’t fight.

this film was class, why did it get so much heat? its the sequel the original deserved......its better than Prey.....Prey is also very good tho....

That’s not the original predator, I could go on a whole explanation but I’ll keep it short. Basically their species as a whole segregate themselves into clans and the trio of preds (falconer, tracker and berserker), that are on this planet were acc known as ‘super predators’ meaning they were much stronger than all the rest and much more capable with their skills so the other elder preds etc got nervous of them being so much stronger making them exile these super preds to this planet, the ‘original’ predator you mentioned is acc just a predator from a different clan/tribe therefore making him an enemy and in turn their prisoner. All this can be explained further in the predator lore, hope it helps though. 👍

I already read those, and very interesting. Also, Royce got yautja armor and weapons from ''Jungle Hunter Clan'' who respect him for killing Berserker in a fair fight.

It's incredible how honorable the yautja can be, after Royce freed him he was more than willing to honor the deal and even set a course for earth, but when you run into bad bloods then it's terrifying
I dont care how badly they mess up the movies, I will always love the Predator concept.

It’s quite interesting to see that the classic predator still kept his armor on knowing Mr. Black wouldn’t remove his or fight fairly. He didn’t even use his plasma caster because his still followed the code just enough, even if Mr. Black used his.
This, honestly, was not a bad film.
I think with time it will get the appreciation that Predator 2 gets now.

Their civilization have existed for MILLENNIUMS... Along with so much advanced technology to help them out, they should probably have learned just about every language out there in the galaxy. If only we humans could live nearly as long as the Predators do (hundreds/thousands of years) it's quite possible that we too would have at least learned every single language on Earth.There would be NO language barriers!
