Thank you. This is so much better than the other video I found which claimed it was a "full tour." You picked a lovely time of year to visit it with all the Christmas decorations.
G'day G, I seriously don't expect they would static display a perfectly good, vintage Rolls Royce when it could be doing useful work as part of the Royal Ground Transportation Fleet. When the Royal Yacht was an active RN vessel, it would not have been 'the' Rolls Royce but, 'a' Rolls Royce; just one of the many vehicles HM has at her disposal. It certainly wouldn't have been the same Rolls Royce as such a prolonged exposure to seawater in the atmosphere would have disintegrated the vehicle over so many years. As was shown at the recent funeral for the late Duke of Edinburgh, and at other large occasions of State, every Rolls Royce and Bentley in the fleet was needed to be on duty. I noticed a couple of Rolls and a Bentley I hadn't seen in a very long time. An old Range Rover is a sufficient vehicle for a static display in such a sad setting as The Britannia as she is now; which I explain in detail in my other comment on this video. Cheers, BH
They are meant to spin as to distribute the weight. Overtime they would start to break the pack seal that keeps the water out around them if they were left to hang as it were. Many museum ships remove the props
I was a little surprised to hear that it has been retired.... until I had a look at that bridge. Looks like an awful lot of recycled WW2 gear in there. Going by that, a whole new one would obviously be more cost-effective than a re-build.
So sad to her like this. A 'dead' ship. No crew, no Royal residents. Boilers cold, a public cafe and gift shop are probably the saddest areas. I'm told she attracts many visitors. One certainly hopes the revenue from visitors is finding its way into a fund to help finance a new Royal Yacht. Unlike POTUS, HM doesn't have two identical, dedicated luxury aircraft at her 'round the clock' disposal. The two 'Air Force Ones' are amazing aviation technology but have no class or refinement. Going back to Henry VIII there's been a Royal Yacht/warship. As an island, seafaring nation, the UK deserves, and should be able to afford an ocean going vessel for the Monarch and other Royal VIPs. The prestige and positive profile of Britannia was famous around the world and I'm certain that, in her own way, she paid for herself in good will, international diplomatic and international trade advantages. Also, a magnificent training ground and 'reward' posting for Royal Navy specialist officers and ratings. Apart from the 'gin palaces' of some Middle Eastern potentates, a true Royal Yacht was unique to Britain's Monarch. I fully understood and sympathised with HM and her family for being devastated by this magnificent ship's removal from the active vessels of her Royal Navy by uncaring politicians and government 'bean counters'. I fear King Charles will continue to be a 'landlubber' at heart; but I do so hope that by the time King William ascends to the throne he will command that he and his extended family and the country, have the many benefits of a new Royal Yacht. I couldn't finish watching this sad video; least of all because of the silly, inappropriate music and the lack of a respectful, informative narration. I'm an ex airforce type and don't really enjoy ocean travel, however, as a Commonwealth taxpayer I would gladly contribute some of my tax dollars to a new Royal Yacht. All the best, Ma'am and my sincere condolences on the loss of your beloved husband. God bless you. William, Hobart, Tasmania.
The whole monarchy should go the way of this ship... this is a look at the future of the royal family - an unnecessary, expensive, waste of public resources.
Money. Decades ago a ship was useful to travel the world. Now there are airplanes and the royals fly when they go abroad. Faster and cheaper than keeping a ship staffed with 240 crew year round. It used to take 4 to 5 weeks to sail to Australia. Now they can fly there in a day.

Thank you for your kind message .
Nice little boat👍
It sure is!
Visited the ship yesterday, very interesting
i wish to visit this place
Have been there, fantasic lunch and vers good exhebition
I loved it too, actually better than I was expecting.
Good video.
One correction is she's a steam turbine vessel not gas.
Yes, twin steam turbines, forget which make but may be Italian?
I think steam is sometimes called gas. Do the engines still run?
What happened to the Rolls Royce that used to be in the garage? I've seen pictures of from when it was still there.

And why did they remove the prop shafts and props

Everything on the ship is mostly a it was equipped in 1953.
I hope its replaced with a new ship

It appears that the ship is in fine condition… why did they decommission it?
I’m guessing that it’s a budget thing
