A quick defeat of the Jevil boss. As one can see, using ACTs instead of damaging the boss can lead to a very quick finish. The key to saving time is to graze a lot and use the ACT option whenever possible, but this can make way for getting hit a lot. On a good run, Jevil can be Pacified just before using Chaos Bomb (Not the same as Final Chaos), which is what happens in this run. On a normal run, one should be careful to heal their fallen teammates out of death with items or Ralsei's Heal Spell, and this usually means Final Chaos will end up being used before the fight ends. Jevil. The boss that introduced me to the Game Over screen. I'm not kidding, either. The rest of Deltarune was so easy. But this is just like Sans all over again.

You can hide in the bottom right corner and if a spade pops up in that corner then move to the left

Sometimes, I go to the bottom left and it works... occasionally.
The placement of the bullets are different each time and it depends on whether the bullets go clockwise or counterclockwise.
You just gotta get a feel for it, where you should put yourself...
At least, that's what I do since I can't remember the bullet patterns too well.
Edit: Everyone seems to be crediting me when I stated that someone who goes by the username *_Sh4delock_* was the one who figured this out!
Pirouette's effects aren't random, but determined by the number of rounds, here's *_Sh4delock's_* list of every effect: (The effect counter loops back to 1 after round 9)
1 does nothing special
2 drops Jevil's defense
3 Increases Jevi's hit rate
4 Increases party's defense
5 Sends out a bird (aka nothing)
6 Heals -Kris- (I found out that it actually heals a random party member and edited *_Sh4delock's_* list)
7 Jumbles everyone's health pools
8 powers up Jevil's next attack
9 Heals all members

Bro this attack is so hard
I think you might have found a unique way to beat him. I've probably gone a good run hitting him with about 8 or 9 hypnosis before, but he still wouldn't slow down. He only got more hyper and difficult.
Then I noticed there was some pace to how you did it...Pirouettes sometimes, hypnosis others. I counted about 6 Hypnosis and 4 pirouettes. Once I noticed this, I tried it myself and managed to end the fight before he goes nutter-butters, too! And I'm not good at grazing like you are either. You might have stumbled onto something special here.

THIS GUIDE DEFINITELY HELPED ME. I already knew you needed to constantly defend and at least act, the problem was I couldn’t dodge the spiral attack which led me to not being able to act since either one of the three would die because I didn’t dodge. Having to constantly ACT really made it easier and dodging the spiral attack to which I felt stupid not thinking on dodging it that way. Thanks so much!
Knowing that I had to alternate between piroette and hypnosis helped me immensely. That was the key really. God bless you son
i dont know how in the actually hell you did it; i kept trying and trying, one run i tried hynosis 8 times, it looked like he got "tired", but i couldnt pacify him, then he just went into a stage two where there were 3 of him attacking twice as much
The boss is very weird, I don't think he follows a traditional "HP" system when it comes to Hypnosis/Pirouette. I was looking over other people's videos, and it seemed like the best ones used both Hypnosis and Pirouette every now and then, so try using at least 1-2 Pirouettes in your attempts if that helps!
Edit: After Jevil uses Chaos Bomb (Every card suit at once), he'll *look* tired for 2 turns before using Final Chaos (giant scythe attack which isn't in the video), and then he'll go crazy like you described with the message "Jevil's pulling out all the stops!". He'll keep using hard versions of attacks afterwards. If you want to know when you can *actually* pacify him, it's when the text box says "Jevil is truly exhausted!"

Pirouette seems to tire him out alot faster. I just beat him after one try using it more than the hypnosis. If I couldn't everyone would defend. I now have the jevilstail :)
Probably because it's half the TP cost, you can restore TP with the other characters, and isn't much worse than Hypnosis.
THANK YOU SO MUCH:DDDD, I was losing it for almost 1 hour trying to spam Hypnosis but after trying spamming pirouette I got it on my third try:))
1:16 You can dodge that attack by simply standing in the corner and moving just a little to dodge the next ring of spades (it works and gives you free TP)
they are not doing that, so they can get more tp for Hipnosis.

i decided to replay chapter 1 and beat jevil after the shadow crystals were added, and oh boy. i worked on that fight in my limited time after school for a week, and i just beat him today!
watching your playthrough really helped me, even though i just realized that there was subtitles commentary after i beat him T-T, the dodge and graze patterns of your almost no hit defeat saved me so much.
thanks so much for making this! i owe you the 2 more weeks of my life it probably would've taken to defeat jevil without this playthrough
One thing you all should know:
Pirouette makes this fight way too easy. Don't spam hypnosis, if you need to heal, just use pirouette and heal with susie and ralsei, and you can even get buffs, like a bit of healing, a defense boost, or your HP getting jumbled up (Really useful for keeping ralsei alive)
I got closer to beating him using the different weapons apart from the starter weapons, and I think that I almost beat him because of the extra 10-22 damage points given to Susie for her Rude Buster.
in the devil's knife attack I recommend staying in the bottom right corner and when they get out then move left (only applies to first part of devils knife)

thank you SO MUCH! before i saw this video i was honestly struggling a LOT with this fight and usually died after the 4rd or 5th round. but once i looked at this video twice i was able to defeat him after 5 tries!

I don't know. I watched this guide several times and still can't beat him. I just can't dodge his projectiles and i have to keep focusing on healing.
That's OK! Here's some general dodging tips:
- Your horizontal and vertical movement speed stack, so you technically move faster diagonally.
- You'll want to look in the general area of where the bullets are coming from so that you can see them coming better.
- Training your eyes to read bullets takes time. It's a very slow-but-sure learning curve.
As well as some general other tips:
- You can heal party members out of death with normal healing items or Ralsei's heal spell.
- Purchase some better healing items / armor from the shop, or solve some of the overworld puzzles for special equipment.
- Try putting the Dainty Scarf on Ralsei to make his heal more effective.
- If one of your party members gets taken out, you should first make sure that one living member is good on health so that an attack that targets the team won't take everyone out at once. Afterwards, you can focus on healing a downed member back to health.
- If Kris is alive but someone else is down, you can use Pirouette on Kris to progress the fight a little, and then use the other living party member to heal.
- If survival is more important than a fast clear, then you don't have to focus on grazing bullets! If you need to dodge carefully, then do so. I do the more dangerous grazing just because it's for the sake of the fast clear.

It turns out I never noticed the text that says "Jevil is truly devastated!" and I got so completely focused on getting as many hypnotizes and pirouettes as possible, i was skipping through text and didn't pick up on the cue that I could've pacified him. So basically I was fighting many more turns than what was required for over 2 and a half hours, which I will now never get back. Welp :/

Tip for ring-around attack;
Get close to one if the spaces and stay in the middle if you dont move you cannot get hit by them, sometimes you get hit because you moved a little closer to one of them or you just didn't understand this tip

This is the second time I've done it. Most videos use a video editor to overlay text relating to the video, but I don't have any (and the youtube editor sucks) so I decided to put it into the closed captions instead. It works pretty well! (As an added bonus, it lets people choose if they want to see the text or just the video itself.)
I kid you not, right after watching your how-to, I finally beat Jevil within a short amount of time :D. For other players figuring out how to defeat Jevil, however, I would recommend using any empty armor space that you haven't reserved for armors like the Dice Brace, White Ribbon, and Iron Shackle, for Amber Cards. It's better than having no armor, trust me.
Can confirm even after Chapter 2, this is the only character I've died to. And over a dozen times at that. Not even Spamton was this hard imo😭
This is a great video, but I wish it was a genocide guide because after all the pain and suffering Jevil has caused me, I refuse to go pacifist on him.

Graze when you can or you feel like you're able to so you can use rude buster, repair the cake because it heals a lot, fill your inventory with darkburger but keep items that give more than 70hp it may help you

I know you are doing this with default gear, but every 5 or so times i die i switch to trying to kill him with fighting, and anyways im constantly using healing items. so i was wondering if you could help me out with what would be the best gear and heals to get? i already have the top cake and the sandwich.
You can go to the prison cell to get the Iron Shackles, and put those on Susie. You can solve a puzzle at a certain part of the Forest to get the Dice Brace, which I also ended up putting on Susie (but you could put it on someone else). A chest in the Forest also gives you Ragger, which you can put on Ralsei if you want him to attack. You can also purchase the Dainty Scarf from RK and put it on Ralsei to give him better healing instead, though. (35 -> 45). Getting the Brave Ax from RK and the Spookysword from Seam are also good ideas.
As a side-note, you can mash Z when using Rude Buster to deal more damage! (I don't know why it happens.)

Also, for items, I think the Heart Donut and Choco Diamond heal specific amounts for each team member. Heart Donut heals 80 on Susie, and Choco Diamond heals 50 on Ralsei. Lancer cookie also heals 50 in the Jevil fight.

I've spent at least 45 minutes over the last 2 days dedicated to fighting jevil and the closest I've gotten is about on fifth of his health
While fighting Jevil gets you an amazing weapon for Susie, Pacifist is the more fast way to beat him.
It doesn't matter how long it takes you to defeat him...
what ∂øes matter is if you can last that long or not!

For everyone trying this to get both shadow crystals in ch. 2, you only have to beat jevil once and then you have access to the jevilstail and Crystal in every chapter 2 save, just go to the waterfall!

The enemy of this boss is not the difficulties itself but it’s the demotivation that surrounds it every time you die it feels like he start from square one again and that’s everything you’ve worked for that one run was absolutely useless feels like an endless loop we can do nothing about it you’re so close yet so far

Dude How long do you practice to get this perfect run. I always died on carousel and devils knife in metamorphosis. Chapter 2 is out and I wanna play it so bad but i think i shoud beat jevil first, not thinking of skipping chapters. So I want to finish this quick. Please help
Now i am not the creator of this video.. but i can help you..
1)CAROUSEL
At start of the attack dont move to right or left instead stay in position and don't look at your soul but look a little left of it.. when those horses increase don't panic just move up.. key to this attack is just not to panic.
2)Metamorphosis
Go to right wall then focus on where devilsknife is going ITS RANDOMIZED EVERYTIME... Then just follow the devilsknife BUT REMEMBER NOT TO GO OUT OF YOUR WALL... And now the same attack with that red version.. now just go hug your right wall.. again then do it.. like normally then once red devilsknife is in your area.. move to the middle after devilsknife rised then just go to your wall again.. and do eveything normally again.
