- This performance was recorded at Hawaii Jazz Festival at Turtle Bay in 1991 (the same jazz festival where my other video, "Tropic of Capricorn," was recorded). Performed by their near-original members including Tony Morales (ds), Mark Portmann (keys), Steve Reid (per), and Kim Stone (b) in addition to the leader, Russ Freeman (g), and current line-up, Jeff Kashiwa (sax), this clip always reminds me of my good old days when I was running around (often flying around) to catch these guys both in Japan and the US...

Oh my goodness......
I remember hearing this near the time it was released....maybe 1990 ...?
I was 26 then.... a whole lot of time has come and gone since then.
I was living in a Northern suburb of Chicago at the time.
Their sound is so dynamic and really fit the backdrop of the city and its suburbs .
My life is so very different now bur hearing this brings back a lot of memories.
God's Peace to all here!
🙏✌️
Congratulations to the Rippingtons on being nominated for a Grammy!
really?didnt know!!
The Ripps were a uniquely great band at this particular point in time. Their music was cutting edge and they played tight. Evokes great memories of the late 80s/early 90s for me.
I have been a fan of the Rippintons since they first started. Whenever they make it o New Orleans , which is very rare. Because I have to WORK!!!. But I 've been looking them up constantly. I will always have you guys as my favorite band. My children grew up listening to you, and know every song.
SO GOOD!! and so rare to see there live in these years!!!! GREAT PERFORMANCE!!!

You're welcome! Thanks for stopping by!!
Really big fan of the Rippingtons--especially back in the 90s. Saw them multiple times but they never played this song. So glad to see it now. ONly question i have is...Steve Reid is so great at percussion...so how can he have so little rhythm? :)
how does he get that keyboard effect on his guitar?
I see Tony Morales on the Drums and Jeff Kashua all the Horns! Im I correct?
perla
Rippingtons it matches roping it
Fusion in future(0)(0)
Really? A flat saxophone player? That shouldn't happen.
