No doubt the reason why you have almost 7,000 subscribers. You are awesome, for sure. One question. The computer monitor you're using ... does it automatically allow the full screen from the MODX to be viewed or do you have to adjust the size of the picture in the computer monitor? I ordered my from Amazon a few minutes ago and it will be here tomorrow (Saturday). Walmart, Best Buy, Staples and a few others places sell them, but it will be next week before I had it in my little hands. Will definitely give it a try. I have both a Yamaha Montage 7 and now a Yamaha Montage, Jr. (MODX 7). Still trying to learn them and will definitely accomplish this sometime this year, hopefully. Thank you for your videos. So much appreciated.
Hey thanks so much for the kind words! And the answer your question, that monitor was Plug N Play! All I did was adjust the color temps slightly, didn't have to do anything with the output resolution. Best of luck with your HACK! And congrats on your Montage Jr! Love it!
@@SynthsandGuitars Oh wow, been looking for this. However, I thought I saw you post something that showed your connecting up to a tablet. If this is correct could please point me in the right direction where to find the information to do it? Thanks.
Many thanks for this; I received my adapter yesterday and it works indeed! And this really motivates me now to practice / use the buttons on right of my Montage7. Well done
Because of your videos I finally feel like I’m getting my money’s worth out of my MODX and have gotten better at producing too. Thank you so much. Please keep it up. I would love to master to motion sequencer! Or any tips for the AWM2 engine!
What a great hack! Thanks for sharing. I was figuring that there must be a way, bc I saw something like that in a Dom Sigalas video. Yet I wasnt sure if this was real or just some kind of video editing. The technology seems to be DisplayLink compatible. So may be it even works on tablets or smart phones! Also would be a great deal if touch would be supported!
TOP Video. Dieser Video hat mir sehr geholfen, da ich auch schon mehrere USB-Grafikadapter ausprobiert habe. Dieser hier von "plugable" funktioniert einwandfrei. Danke!
This looks very handy. Does anybody know if you must devote that USB extended monitor exclusively? I use my USB stick frequently and would hate to have to unplug or plug all the time. I wonder if the system could handle a hub or a splitter that would allow the monitor to be running full-time as well as USB sticks simultaneously all from that single USB output on the back of the MODX?
See my latest Touchscreen for MODX video where I use a hub to successfully read and load User Libraries, hope this helps and thanks for watching and subbing! th-cam.com/video/inrq7ITpVeA/w-d-xo.html
Touch screen option is way more of a Hack, at the moment there are compatibility issues with various screens available, many screens don't work, some do but they're discontinued. And I don't have a R&D dept. lol. I'll wait for Yamaha to come out with their option.
It's not really a "hack", Montage and MODX uses LINUX as their base Operating System, and there are video drivers included with that for the displays that Modx and Montage already use, this library can also use several monitors, usually gets detected in "mirror mode" just like Windows, and is Generic VGA display compatible. The touch capability is a HID device and acts exactly like a tablet (which linux is also compatible with). If you want a cheaper working adapter, there's a 28 $ clone on eBay incl. shipping (just search for USB 2 to VGA / HDMI) and make sure it looks like the design (not the packaging, the packaging varies) that Synths & Guitars are using in his example. I tested it with HDMI, which also works just fine. A word of caution though, I went to great lengths to test various solutions to find the right CHEAP adapter for this, and the 10 $ square box USB 2 / 3 - adapters WILL NOT WORK as they require Windows specific drivers. But now you know you can get a working adapter for less than 30 bucks incl. shipping, so no need to pay 70-110 $ for this solution anymore, the "clone" works just fine.
@@joaquinruiz3039 Yes, there is already an "unsupported" mirror driver in it, but it is USB2 based - so you need a compatible USB2 to VGA/DVI/HDMI Adapter to make it work, I have one and it works on both the MODX and Montage.
@@joaquinruiz3039 There's a specific adapter that works, you can find it on youtube by searching for Yamaha Montage to HDMI or similar, then you go to ebay and search for the lowest price of that adapter.
LOL ! This is NOT a hack. As an early Montage owner, I and others have known you can do this for over 2 years. I don't think you know what the word 'hack' means. A look around TH-cam will show MANY people have been doing this besides Yamaha.
I did call Yamaha because i am visual in pared. Zo een big screen is important. I did sorry i will not share the info they will provide me Or any device devil made for me or. I also send it wouldn't mind how much wie device. Will cost. No service from them. Then hack it.

Man, didn't look for that hack, but happy I found it... is there now really something MODX - USERS do still miss ?!! Great, thank you !!!

I have a couple USB monitors lying around. I should try this. Though I wonder what happens with touchscreens. I don't have one to test it with.
I am going to try this with my Motif XS. Will let you know if it works.
Love the hack! I just ordered mine from Amazon. I’m also getting my new modx8 next week!
Hey Mike. where are you sourcing that MODX?

Thank you for sharing useful information!
Thank you for sharing useful information! Is it work on MODX updated to 2.52 firmware?
Thank you so much for this great video!
Would be there even less latency if the device is USB 3.0 standard?
There may be a problem with the MODX powering a usb 3.0, lack of power possibly, so I didn't go that route.
Cool! I’m gonna try this with my USB-C touchscreen monitor.
Great hack! Enjoy your videos a lot from Downunder!

Can this be done on an iPad?

Question: Would a USB to HDMI adaptor work?
I hope this work. Ordering now
Wonder would this work with a "mobile" USB touchscreen. The ones that can plug in your phone or laptop via just USB.
Do you know if it accepts a USB Mouse? or any other kind of input? like a Mouse-Keyboard combo?
Hello, can you put an HDMI touch screen to MODX?
was really helpful.thanks
Really great job and info! Somebody gotta hack into your reverb preferences for that intro and get you to turn it down😂
Great video! Could I use my touch sensitive big IpadPro for this? That would really be amazing?? 😇👍🎹🎧🌟🎶
No Ipads don't work unfortunately. Still working on that hack.....stay tuned tho
Very simple plug and play...
Why not do the full touch screen option?

I don't see the link to buy the connector for USB.
My apologies, I've replaced the link in the video description, thanks for your support. Best wishes, Synths & Guitars
Will it work for ipad
This is a device sending video signal to a monitor, so it can't work with iPad.
