Just subscribed as you saved me $99 and I got to download the coolest libraries. The discount code wasn't on the site - but I tried it at checkout and it worked. Great tips. So glad I found this channel.
OMG, this is hugely helpful! The documentation that comes with the MODX isn't bad, but it really doesn't walk you through the process of how to do common things. Even the difference between User and Library files is pretty opaque. Can't thank you enough for this! Cheers mate! J
Fantastic video, thank you so much. I got my MODX8 yesterday and had no idea how to load anything onto it. This was really helpful and told me exactly what I needed to know!
Excellent video. You might want to mention that if you are using a Mac and you format the USB stick using the MODX the Mac cannot read it and so you can’t download the files. You need to format the USB stick on the Mac to MSDOS FAT32 which is obviously the format Yamaha is using. On the Mac go to Applications>Utilities>Disc Utility>Erase. When you erase select MSDOS FAT. Cheers, Stewart
REALLY helpful! I've had my MODX8 for almost a year and didn't really know how libraries worked. I also didn't know about the free sounds! Now make a video about whatever the heck "motion sequencing" is. :)
Great! I have a question though - I want to use stem tracks of the whole song or a few instrument audio tracks that are produced on Logic pro to be played back as rhythm variations A B C D and Fills/endings, etc.. (like audio styles present on the SX900 and others) Is that possible on the MODX6? I use ableton for it at the moment (gets tedious). Need to know if this board could do it so that we can use it at church instead of having to use a laptop and other gear. Thanks again for this video
So on the Chick’s Mark V set it says the following: “Chick's Mark V for MONTAGE - a sample and MONTAGE Performance library NOTE: THIS SOUNDSET REQUIRES MONTAGE OS V1.51” I imagine though this will work with the Modx as you say in the video?
I've previously loaded libraries into my montage without a hitch but, yesterday, I bought a new pack and when I did the usual loading procedure an "Illegal file" message appeared on screen. Any tips on how to fix this issue?
Have never heard of this, but definitely get back in touch with however you bought that from. Also check the file extensions, they could have been formatted incorrectly. Best of luck!
How do you get your libraries to live set please? I've got a few loaded in but they don't all go to live set mode. Would apprteciate any tips to do this.
Great info. Thanks I “ordered” the Bosendorfer expansion library using the coupon code a few days ago and the order seemed to go through...got an email saying it would be shipped soon etc. Is this something I’m supposed to just download, though? Vs. getting a shipment? Can’t find anywhere to download it now that I’ve “ordered” it (for free).
Is there a way to create my own library using only the sounds I actually want and use from the various libraries I have downloaded as to save space on the MODX? For example, take samples from the CS80, Bosendorfer, other sample packs I have downloaded etc and make it into ONE libary to load?
Well it's impossible to do anything right now because they've rolled out a broken new version of the site where you can't find anything unless you already know what you're looking for and nothing works.
I wonder if Yamaha also makes it available old Yamaha MO Performances for MODX(+). I used to have MO6 (sold it), there are some performance patches that I would love to have it back. Please if anyone have any information on this? Thank you
..is there a way to edit and save the sounds from a library?i can save then like a new user files but not rewrite then into a library..i can do that easy with melas editor but is it possible into modx?regards
Do I have to load the entire library or can I just load specific sounds from a library? For example, on the MODX if I just wanted to store 10 sounds from Chick's Mark V, and 20 sounds from Montage Extended, etc... in order to stay within the 1GB limit. This way I don't have to keep deleting and reloading entire libraries based on the gig I am doing....
No you have to load you library into the MODX/Montage. And also no a future update patch will not allow sound/library/performance access directly from USB.

Just 1 (ONE!) GB Memory in the Modx, al liitel more in Montage . "Sample Memory full" after 2 librairies......." Whatt? Loading takes 5min, deleting 3.... thats the furure? To buy sounds, that u can't use in modern (?) synth? It's just like a DX 7 with Cartridge and Sysexdump.......with a touchscreen and some shortcuts This 8 librairies -thing is a fake i.m.h.o. Now , the Laptop ist on the keyboard via USB and i use Native Komplete. As i did before... My original Plan was to buy a whole lot of interesting sound and feed the synth up to a killermachine. Deleted by Yamaha. Sad.
This is what I have researched for months and I fear will happen to my new MODX7. I'm not keen on having a peripheral sitting on top of my stand. I bought this thing hoping to get rid of that. and then, I am just discovering these "libraries" requiring emptying out your stored sounds and you have to use thumb drives or laptops. Absolutely not. Im a live player, not some pothead in a studio..jeez.

Just got my MODX. You have made a direct hit on what was grinding away in my brain cells ... Thanx !
I know the feeling🤣

Great to have yet another very helpful resource for the MODX on TH-cam. Subbed!
Thanks! Best explanation in regarding installing libraries. Straight to the point. You have helped me significantly! Subbed! :)
Very informative tutorials.
I learned from the previous video that MODX/MONTAGE can take screen shots.

Great tutorial. Got my MODX8 today and this was really useful. Thanks.
Thanks for another informative session.
Can you recall what the performance/patch name you were playing at the end of your video?
Excellent video, thx! Just wished Yamaha had somewhere I could listen on the free library’s before I install one..
Thank you dude! Just got the $99 pack for free! Appreciate the clear guide! Keep it up !
Just ordered this today hopefully i get it by next week. Heard and seen a lot of good things about this beast
Hey glad to hear you got a MODX! Best of luck with it and thanks for the subs!
@@SynthsandGuitars been a good year and it is a literal boss man i fricken love it
Very good, nice and easy to see what is going on. There is a lot going on in the MODX it's very impressive.
The video I was looking for ! Subscribed!
Great tips. Thank you very much!!
Well organized video, very useful. thanks.
heel erg fijne info maar vroeg me eigenlijk af of je een libary ook naar usb kan schrijven ?
Great!

Helpful Video. Who tells me how custom library files can be created? MODX cannot, that‘s for sure.
Very helpful, thank you!

NOTE: THIS SOUNDSET REQUIRES MONTAGE OS V1.51”

Update MODX to the latest OS version. Then it‘ll work. I could install this library to my MODX.
Thank you! would you happen to know how to make my user sounds into a library and transfer it to a USB?
Thanks a lot for this
Thanks!
Thanks, that was helpful!
This is really helpful!
great video. I followed all the steps and at the end it tells me "illegal file". how can u help pls?
The file likely has a criminal record, hope this helps!
great instruction thanx
Can I also load only some sounds from the library instead of loading them all. Just to save some sample memory?
I've previously loaded libraries into my montage without a hitch but, yesterday, I bought a new pack and when I did the usual loading procedure an "Illegal file" message appeared on screen. Any tips on how to fix this issue?

Login into your Yamaha account and the downloads will be available in "My Library" option on the left side menu.

For tip number 3, can you use the Yamaha library as a Vst in a DAW? Or can I download them into let’s say Logic as a software instrument?
To my knowledge there's no direct way to make the Yamaha library a VST type object to be used as a software instrument in a DAW.
Dom Sigalas has some Cubase vids that kind of show this mode.
What type of usb should I use to update firmware? Without damaging anything?

I just uploaded an entire video on this very process, check it out: th-cam.com/video/JIq7vn93TDE/w-d-xo.html
Did you get an answer to this?
@@SynthsandGuitars Perfect! Thanks a lot
Does anyone know if MODX has a Global eq?
Can you just keep the files on the usb and access them from the stick directly to save space? If now will a future patch allow it.
No you have to load you library into the MODX/Montage. And also no a future update patch will not allow sound/library/performance access directly from USB.
Why in 2021 we still have to deal with 1.8 GB sample memory on a $4000 synth?
I think a lot of it has to do with stopping piracy of their sample libraries.
I ordered my bosendorfer library will i get it in the mail or where do i go and download it?
