I have a 160cc, it has been un governed for over a year and I've pushed it way up high into the RPM's for awhile and she's still running strong. Nice vid btw, glad she's running again.
I freakin love the belt stop mod! I'm going to steal that for my craftsman offroader! I'm also considering changing my engine pulley but I don't want a lot more speed so I will be interested to see how much increase you got on the top speed. Great vid and keep them comin.
Love your editing and filming. You really put some time into your videos. I(and im sure others) appreciate it and it looks wayyyyyyy professional. Keep it up.
Good to see you got the problem fixed. Last week the steering ball joint went on my 87 MTD. It was a quick fix but looked like that thing had never been changed! More tech/upgrade videos would be good!
You're becoming quite good in your builds. How do I know this--Well you now can diagnose the problems. And remedy them with results !! That's how!! Good job on creating that very interesting and clearly shown ''VIDEO'' !!
I've watched your videos for a year now and I would hate to be working in that dirt, but I love the machinery you're putting out though. Its fucking awesome dude!! Keep it up!
I will say, i did see it go a little bit faster. I don't know maybe its me. But nice job on the pully job Fearless! Keep posting videos! Love to watchem'
Nice video. The belt break might cause some problems but it looked to me like the belt would hold up. Me personally I do lawn care work and last year I went thru a lot of the tractor supply blue belts but maybe you can make it last longer for you... good luck
Just what I thought, It sounds so much better in neutral now. I didn't think about the idler pulleys causing the noise though. Glad you actually reused the sleeve too, that's what I plan to do when I get a chance to do a pulley swap on my craftsman. That's been on the back burner forever though.. Oh yeah, and I'd love to see that stuff, sometimes I get a lot of nice ideas from your tech vids. Really any videos are good to see coming from you, seeing as you don't seem to have as much time for it lately.
Well, it's more because it's winter, and that means an average temperature of about 20*f if your lucky! Once it warms up, I will be back doing videos more regularly.
Oh yeah I hear you on that, this is the worst winter I've ever dealt with, a warm day to me is 35°F. I've been getting really tired of having to shut myself in for the last couple months. I have a mini bike to finish and a paint job to fix on my grass cutting tractor, haha.
Really enjoy the tech vids wwont to see what you don with governer. And what happend to the off road trailer. Great vids love the kevlar belts been bashin one for about 6 or 7 months there great. Keep it up great vid.
nice sounds good. my question is why did you put a 5 inch on the transmission? when i got my craftsman i had i put a 2 inch on the transmission and a 6 on motor was a crazy lil tractor. but did a great job on that
Waze app will show you the speed. Mine does....5. Not very impressive lol Wish I had the shop and welding skills to build something like this. Thanks for the video!
What’s the difference in changing the engine pulley from transmission pulley? I have a craftsman LT3000 with a 12.5hp brigs and want to make it fast. Thanks
Great Video!...I feel your pain with the stuck pulley. If I have 6 bolts to remove, one will ALWAYS shear off. Do you ever put anti-seize on the engine shaft before you install the pulley? Wonder if it would wash off or help combat the 'rust weld'.
I bypassed my governor on my mastercraft.... Goes faster but it runs the chance of popping lol.... If she goes I have a monster v-twin for it that's almost as big as the tractor lol.
I would love to have those old pullies you took off to put on mine, and also I have a 6 speed peerless tecumseh that seems to be slipping but will sure enough pop a wheelie
Fearlessfront oh ok so you didnt weld the pulley at all then? just slid the sleeve up on then bolted it? how did you line up the pulley to be perfectly in line with the rest of the pulleys? im having a hard time with mine haha
yeah, I did need a key, and I used 1" machine bushings from the hardware store until I got the desired spacing. I didnt weld the sleeve to the pulley, I left them separate.
You are getting this tractor dialed in. As for the governor, anything over 4200-4500 rpm (depending on the specific Briggs flathead) will cause valve float which can wreak havoc on the exhaust valve plus the significant power loss resulting from the valves bouncing due to lack of spring pressure. shimming the stock valve springs or replacing with stiffer (racing mower) springs is an easy fix. NEVER run a stock flywheel over five grand or it will grenade on you. If increasing spring pressure, a zinc oil additive or racing oil (high zinc content) is a must. The belt stop is a great idea.
The biggest concern safety wise when you exceed governor speed is flywheel explosions. If a rod breaks you get a hole in the block and a screwed engine. If the flywheel lets go you have a hand grenade. You might want to make a steel plate as a scatter shield around it
Ya it's weird because it's just a spring idler on it that keeps the belt tensioned it just has a break pedal on it so it will be tough but I might have a plan but because the hydro can have the input pully spun without doing anywhere there is no need for a clutch because the pump pistons u could say are completely flat not moving any fluid
I've adjusted the governor on my tractor. You got to be careful, I did it to a 13 hp kohler, and after a few times running it at the highest adjustment, it developed a tick. I went to messing with it and it's a push rod tick. it goes away once it fully warms up but the engine has permanent damage.
You should put a light in the back so you can see what you're doing in the dark when you're backing up. But anyways I could see the difference in speed.
To supplement my previous post, perhaps you may consider installing double valve springs and camshaft (212 alt.) from Precision Cams directly, EC Distributing, or some webstore that sells racing mower parts. Since the performance camshaft is reduced radius, you will need to purchase a set of billet lifters. The camshaft will wake up your Briggs and raise the maximum torque from 2500 rpm to 4000 rpm along with a substantial torque increase. Adjust the governor to approx. 4000 - 4500 rpm or remove and install a rev limiter. Any higher revs and you have to spend a BUNDLE!! It would then be preferable to install an OHV single.
I made it that way. Easiest way would be to park on a level surface, drill a hole through the chassis, through the front axle, and through the chassis on the back of the front axle, then put a large bolt through it. some tractors have these holes already built in
Hi fearless. I just got a lawn mower and the guy said it starts but he was not able to put it in gear and the rear wheels locked up. Any idea what happened?
Do a video on the gov "adjustment" haha and it wouldn't be to tough to convert a hydro to a like five speed cuz I'm wondering how tough it is to make a clutch system any thoughts? (I have the 5 speed just not in the tractor)
I just got done converting a Murray widebody from a hydro to a spicer 5 speed. I'm telling you what, swapping out the transaxle a was easy. Fearless said somewhere that there was a lot of measuring involved to get the clutch fabbed and installed and I tell you what, he wasn't lying! In the end I got it, but it wasn't easy, just use patience and a lot of it!
I messed with the gov. And if u fine tune it just right u will be good but with. My twin Briggs after awhile it caused some carb issues but it's tuned and running
I dunno about faster, but it seemed a little more...meatier?!?...i dunno, maybe it's just me. I compared it to previous videos and it looks to me as you're getting a little bit more umpf for the kick. Maybe it's because of the snow, it makes it hard to gauge thing properly. Cool fix, cool belt (blue is my favorite color after all) and here's hoping that the belt choke you made works in the future as well. If it were me i'd weld a little lip and sand the surface smooth. That surely would prolong the life of the belt.
You should post a video on the govener, so that way people wont try it and do it wrong and tear there lawn mowers up trying to mess with it and not knowing what there doing lol took the govener off my old ford mower and my buddy blew it up within 3 days. lol
Hi Fearless. Playing with your governor may be dangerous. Check out Brian Millers pulling website. There is a section on small engine flywheels. They WILL come apart at high rpm's.Check them for cracks too . I love your diesel. Keep the video's coming and be safe.
yeah, I know all about that stuff. I have a modded gx200 as well. I did leave the governor in place, I just adjusted it a little bit. Also this motor was put together by me, and the FW was never struck with a hammer, so it shouldn't be cracked. And I put a piston, and connecting rod from an ohv briggs in it as well so hopefully it doesn't blow. But If it does, I have another one waiting to go into it.
Fearlessfront Yeah you do a good job.Only thing to watch is over torquing with an inpact driver.Your on a tapered shaft and getting overzealous will crack them. Your good for 4 grand with a cast flywheel, more than that go with steel. We garden tractor pull and we're putting a Kubota 3cyl in a cub cadet this year.Stay warm bro !
Awsome Test Ride. Don't rev engine too high for too long. Those motors have aluminum piston rods which have time limits on high revs, which means when your short amount of time is up you need to replace the aluminum piston rod before it breaks. Just some advice. Still awsome video.
I actually built this motor myself with ohv parts. It cost me less than $75 for the whole build, including the barley used I/C engine block. it should be a little tougher than a normal flathead, but if it does blow, I have an ohv I could swap into it in about an hour. I didn't get really aggressive with the governor settings, just a few hundred extra RPM's is all. It makes it more fun knowing it could come unraveled! haha
yeah, you should check the shaft size, if it's 5/8" bore, then it might bolt right on. Otherwise, you'll have to cut off your old hub, and weld it to the pulley, perfectly centered of course.
Dude...awesome mower ...but you could get so much more performance out of that motor by putting stiffer valve springs and a dirtbike or atv carb on it....I've seen it done...it works great :-)
Frikn Genius. You need a sponsor. Your talent deserves concrete floors and unlimited resources. You are a Pioneer of the sport.
I totally agree. I've been watching his videos for years and from time to time re-watch them.
I have a 160cc, it has been un governed for over a year and I've pushed it way up high into the RPM's for awhile and she's still running strong. Nice vid btw, glad she's running again.

Still watch this for the minty snow drifts!!! Hello from northern Ontario!!
Nice vid there that exhaust sounds so good when its cold outside. Would love to see more tech vids / what you did to the governor. Thanks!
Love how u say u come up with these ideas been doing this for a year as it is
Love your editing and filming. You really put some time into your videos. I(and im sure others) appreciate it and it looks wayyyyyyy professional. Keep it up.
Thanks man!
Good to see you got the problem fixed. Last week the steering ball joint went on my 87 MTD. It was a quick fix but looked like that thing had never been changed! More tech/upgrade videos would be good!
Yea, those mtd joints like to do that!
Keep it up!
Nice, glad you got it back together!
that belt brake is a really good idea. im having that same issue with hard shifting so I might have to come up with something similar.
great video.gives me good ideas for the craftsman i have started to work on for muddin.keep up the great work and videos.
I love them tractor supply blue belt Kevlar.. they work the NUTS.. thumbs up bud...
nice job man! looks crazy fun to drive!!
Oh ok makes sense. I just went for speed pretty much for grass didn't do much mudding with it. Thanks for the quick reply keep the good videos coming.
Great video Fearlessfront
I will say, i did see it go a little bit faster. I don't know maybe its me. But nice job on the pully job Fearless! Keep posting videos! Love to watchem'
Glad to see you got her up and going again keep the videos coming I love them I only wish I could do what you guys do
another great video keep em coming fearless !
Yes more sweet video tech/upgrades an new builds!
Love your videos fearless keep them coming man
I'd like to see the governor adjustment. Haha
Nice video. The belt break might cause some problems but it looked to me like the belt would hold up. Me personally I do lawn care work and last year I went thru a lot of the tractor supply blue belts but maybe you can make it last longer for you... good luck

Really enjoy the tech vids wwont to see what you don with governer. And what happend to the off road trailer. Great vids love the kevlar belts been bashin one for about 6 or 7 months there great. Keep it up great vid.
nice sounds good. my question is why did you put a 5 inch on the transmission? when i got my craftsman i had i put a 2 inch on the transmission and a 6 on motor was a crazy lil tractor. but did a great job on that
because I drive through a lot of mud and water, so a 2" would slip, whereas the 5" has more surface area for the belt to grab the pulley
Waze app will show you the speed. Mine does....5. Not very impressive lol Wish I had the shop and welding skills to build something like this. Thanks for the video!
Ever think about building a front end loader for one of your tractors?
nice to see the murray runnin aigan
What’s the difference in changing the engine pulley from transmission pulley? I have a craftsman LT3000 with a 12.5hp brigs and want to make it fast. Thanks
Great Video!...I feel your pain with the stuck pulley. If I have 6 bolts to remove, one will ALWAYS shear off. Do you ever put anti-seize on the engine shaft before you install the pulley? Wonder if it would wash off or help combat the 'rust weld'.
I put anti-seize on everything! haha
I bypassed my governor on my mastercraft.... Goes faster but it runs the chance of popping lol.... If she goes I have a monster v-twin for it that's almost as big as the tractor lol.
If you do put that motor in that mower I WANT TO SEE IT! That would be COOL!
You should do that anyway!
I liked the vidio fearless i took mine out in the snow yesterday
on the throttle, id rather see one on how you did the dual setup on the sears. id like to do something like that on my 74' bolens
awesome tractor good job
Wow! Cool stuff bud!
I would love to have those old pullies you took off to put on mine, and also I have a 6 speed peerless tecumseh that seems to be slipping but will sure enough pop a wheelie
How did you install your front pulley? Did you just slide the pulley on then the sleeve and weld the pulley to the sleeve?
I didn't weld the sleeve, but I slid the pulley up into place, then the sleeve, then the bolt.
Fearlessfront oh ok so you didnt weld the pulley at all then? just slid the sleeve up on then bolted it? how did you line up the pulley to be perfectly in line with the rest of the pulleys? im having a hard time with mine haha
and you didnt need a keyway on the pulley either?
yeah, I did need a key, and I used 1" machine bushings from the hardware store until I got the desired spacing. I didnt weld the sleeve to the pulley, I left them separate.
ok just any bushings would work?or were they rubber? did you put the bushings on the engine side of the pulley or the sleeve side of the pulley
How did the front pulley work out
You are getting this tractor dialed in. As for the governor, anything over 4200-4500 rpm (depending on the specific Briggs flathead) will cause valve float which can wreak havoc on the exhaust valve plus the significant power loss resulting from the valves bouncing due to lack of spring pressure. shimming the stock valve springs or replacing with stiffer (racing mower) springs is an easy fix. your videos are great...helping me learn as well
Where did u get ur pully from im currently building a mud mower and.im new to all this
If this snow ever melts I need to get back to work on the tank
Ya it's weird because it's just a spring idler on it that keeps the belt tensioned it just has a break pedal on it so it will be tough but I might have a plan but because the hydro can have the input pully spun without doing anywhere there is no need for a clutch because the pump pistons u could say are completely flat not moving any fluid
You should try to put another transaxle behind the one you got to make a tracked mower
I've adjusted the governor on my tractor. You got to be careful, I did it to a 13 hp kohler, and after a few times running it at the highest adjustment, it developed a tick. I went to messing with it and it's a push rod tick. it goes away once it fully warms up but the engine has permanent damage.
so did you use a sip tie on the governor spring for more rpm, or stretch the spring mount, or installed a tighter spring? :)
Tweaking the spring tangs.... Little by little
i would really like to see the how you changed the governor just cause i'm curious
What is the best way to gear it for snow if u where to build one just for that
You should put a light in the back so you can see what you're doing in the dark when you're backing up. But anyways I could see the difference in speed.
I would like to see governor adjustment.
Have a question I have welded.up two transaxles and havent had any luck with them can I get n e pointers
what size pulley is on the front and back on this mower bud?
Sounds like a fuckin quad winding out man!
Do you have your front end welded solid?
To supplement my previous post, perhaps you may consider installing double valve springs and camshaft (212 alt.) from Precision Cams directly, EC Distributing, or some webstore that sells racing mower parts. Since the performance camshaft is reduced radius, you will need to purchase a set of billet lifters. I would like to see the govonor adjustment
Hey what size pulley do you have on the back and front
What did you do to the goverver?
You're a great kid, I love you. I would like something to get but I can not find anything so in our country
5:35 That's why your belts were burning up. The pulley isn't even spinning.
looks great even 5 mph would make a difference
Did the Maury come stock with a solid front end or did u make it that way if so can I get pointers on how to do it to my craftsman
I made it that way. Easiest way would be to park on a level surface, drill a hole through the chassis, through the front axle, and through the chassis on the back of the front axle, then put a large bolt through it. some tractors have these holes already built in
Fearlessfront thanks man
yeah these videos are great
How can I tweak the governor or make a gas pedal
Hi fearless. I just got a lawn mower and the guy said it starts but he was not able to put it in gear and the rear wheels locked up. Any idea what happened?
not really... could be a bad trans, or sometimes the belt will get stuck to the trans pully if the machine sits a long time
Great videos bro.!! deff good ideas. Why dont you put a 250r engine on it? lol
What keeps the front pulley from walking upwards?
it's up against the bottom flange of the crankshaft
definitely need front tires like those. can turn worth shit in snow with the turf savers
I just wonder what would happen if you put a 2 inch pulley on axle and keep that 6 inch pulley on front or go slightly larger in front
Joshua Conaster it would be awesome
Where did u get the tire
Niicce, looks great!
Looking Good
good that's it going again. here is my way to make the skid plate easier to access like I said last week
Yeah, that is a neat idea. I hope to upgrade mine to thicker steel at some point. Maybe I'll "borrow" your idea when I do! lol
why do people put bolts in upside down?
Do a video on the gov "adjustment" haha and it wouldn't be to tough to convert a hydro to a like five speed cuz I'm wondering how tough it is to make a clutch system any thoughts? (I have the 5 speed just not in the tractor)
even if it's a hydro, it should still have a clutch to disengage the belt. should be a relatively easy swap
In the end I got it, but it wasn't easy, just use patience and a lot of it!
hey fearless i want to use my work tractor for off roading any ideas so i can have the best of both worlds (work and play)
I messed with the gov.
And if u fine tune it just right u will be good but with. My twin Briggs after awhile it caused some carb issues but it's tuned and running
You should add some suspension!
I dunno about faster, but it seemed a little more...meatier?!?...i dunno, maybe it's just me. I compared it to previous videos and it looks to me as you're getting a little bit more umpf for the kick.

Looks like you got a lil more spunk now buddy! Murray's as bad as ever! Hwen you come up the front side a the house you was just gettin it!!! hahaahah
You should post a video on the govener, so that way people wont try it and do it wrong and tear there lawn mowers up trying to mess with it and not knowing what there doing lol took the govener off my old ford mower and my buddy blew it up within 3 days. lol
Dude you remind me of Jay Baruchel from Knocked Up and Million Dollar Baby.
Hi Fearless. Playing with your governor may be dangerous. Check out Brian Millers pulling website. There is a section on small engine flywheels. They WILL come apart at high rpm's.Check them for cracks too . I love your diesel. Keep the video's coming and be safe.

huge difference

Fearlessfront Absolutally More fun dropping the hammer when you need to. You never can have too much power
Hay Fearless. You got to check out my vid doing wheelies on my craftman 10 horse. It doubles as a plow in the winter
Instead of cutting off the other front pulley it would be a great place to fab up a car alternator for all kinds of fun stuff.
hey can I use the mower deck drive pulley for my transmission pulley swap
yeah, you should check the shaft size, if it's 5/8" bore, then it might bolt right on. Otherwise, you'll have to cut off your old hub, and weld it to the pulley, perfectly centered of course.
yes I had to cut the shaft off lol and thanks
Yep, keep these videos coming! And that mower hauls ass!!!
Where did u get the new 6in. Pulley at?
tractor supply co.
I wanna see the governer adjustment!
What do I need to make my mower little bit fast? My mower goes bout 5 mph.. I want to make it go up to 10 mph
change out the motor pulley with a larger one. You will also need a bigger belt as well
So what size for pulley? I don't know how this work.. This why I asked you bout it
Bad ass like that, thst thing will be awesome in the mud.
You need to put a briggs&stratton Vanguard. YOU WOULD HAVE SO MUCH MORE FUN WITH IT.
Where did u get ur engine pully from?
Tractor supply company
Thanks
Dude...awesome mower ...but you could get so much more performance out of that motor by putting stiffer valve springs and a dirtbike or atv carb on it....I've seen it done...it works great :-)
What did you do to your governor?
I tweaked it, it's still there and functional.
Fearlessfront You get more RPM?
***** Yes! I need to measure exactally how much, but a lot of people could tell it sounded different in my Icy Donuts video.
Fearlessfront Nice cool mower :D
Fearlessfront Ya I see that now :)
