Hey Leila, today i received a raise of a little more then 20 euro per month after tax. This due to my work in excel (creating dashboards and automate a lot) I learned soooo much of your video's so here is your fair share! Thank you sooo much!
I love the way you talk about features that others might like, even if you yourself choose not to use them. It just shows how much you are trying to be helpful by recognizing that we all have different needs. Love your channel.
I have 2 suggestions. WinMerge: allows you to compare the files in 2 or even 3 , directories/ drives. Very useful to verify things like a mirror copy. Or to help you keep 2 different computers synchronized with the same files. Second is WinDirStat. It gives you an accounting by directory of drive space consumed. It helps you find large files you forgot about that are eating up your drive space. It also has a nice graphical representation of the files on the drive. I can’t say enough good things about this app.
You should include Microsoft's Zoomit in this list. Not for its ability to zoom in or capture but for the ability to create a layer to draw on your screen while in Teams/Zoom/etc meetings. Love your videos. Keep up the wonderful work.
Yeah, for any presenter, SysInternals ZoomIt is a must have. Zoom in, annotate, a count down timer....must have for presenters. LOVE that Russinovich guy. What a stud he is.
@@zadrazil87 It looks capable, but more than what the job calls for. I don't need a full blown annotation program. I just need to quickly zoom in and out, and draw attention w/o the overhead of bloat for stuff I'll never use. I'm not sure why "it's not a MSFT product" is relevant though. I mean I already paid them $$$ for Windows license. If you're a MSFT hater and you're not using Windows, I guess it makes sense. not sure ppink runs under gnome/KDEs of the world.
@@hansangb I deleted it and had it for a while, it came out in 2006 and is pretty old and clunky. Zooming with Win + "+" works too without a programme. Ppink is an open-source Programm for Win, on Linux there are other options. The handling is better, its easier to use and open source. Zoomit shares similarities with it and is quite similar just more modern. No bloat, just everything a zoomit user might need. Also not using microsoft and then commmenting on a windows video with a specific windows programme would not make sense.
Leila, you're a star!! I'm going to look at a VPN to get past geoblocking which is preventing me from watching streaming TV services in Europe, e.g. "Inspector Montalbano" on French TV, thanks again😀
Hi. Thanks for the tips, saw something that might be useful. One suggestion, Everything. I just recently saw this channel on my recommendations, so I haven't watched too many of these, but in case you haven't covered this... Everything is a windows search tool that finds the results as you're typing. And it only takes a few seconds to "index" on the first start. Only downside is that I have yet to find out a way to stop UAC asking for a permission on every windows start (other than turning UAC off). Well, other downside is that it can't search from network drives, but that's not a big deal for most users.
Introduction: 10 seconds with a nice joke that made me smile. Then straight to the point. Incredibly useful apps followed by a very clear and concise explaination on how to pratically use them. I just downloaded 4 out of 5 apps, when I usually discard 9 out of 10 of what other creators suggest. Just, beautiful.
Thank you so much. I was hesitating to watch this clip, but I definitely found something I could use, and learn and best of all, FREE. Thank you so much.
Thanks Leila for sharing this! Can't use them on the Office Laptop though, but useful to suggest to someone and would go for them on "Personal" Laptop in future! 😊
Hi, you might enjoy benefits from portable apps that can run off an usb. You install the portable apps platform first. Then, you can add apps to the usb-and settings and configuration files are all also saved to the same usb! So Good.
I've used Greenshot for years cause I just couldn't find a better screen capture program. Until now. ShareX looks like it can do all that Greenshot can do and quite a bit more!
For a slightly lighter, more modern looking screenshot software that is still feature-similar to ShareX, I love Greenshot. Looks very similar in functionality.
I'm also a Greenshot user. I've been using it for several years now. I will definitely check out ShareX due to it has several features I wish Greenshot had.
Agree. I also wanted to write about GreenShot. Actually, following the video I tried ShareX and although it seems with more rich features, it kind of misses the target. While most of us just want to take pictures and add some notes/guidance, the app looks like something that requires a special learning course
Hey Leila, Just seen my first video on your channel... I thought I knew a lot after working through windows since version '3' but you've opened my eyes.. You've got me now !!!!
streamWriter is a godsend. I was having some problems with the equalizer but a few minutes later, I accidentally clicked on 'open stream' and voila, it opened it in VLC where I had my EQ tuned to my liking! :D
Great quality video as always, thx for sharing. I use ShareX and Handbrake every day. I use Handbrake CLI batch, just by droppin video file(s) on batch file
GoGoGo 2 mln subs Leila! :D I am Excel MVP as well and every week I send one of your videos to 25,000 people from Poland in the newsletter. See you at one of the Excel Creator Call! :)
Thanks a lot Leila for this video. Amazing I just installed this software ShareX on my computer myself after a long search, and configured it as required. As usual, I so much enjoy your voice Dear. Keep it up!
i love Everything. Everything is a piece of Windows PC software that bypasses Windows search with a lightning quick interface and real-time results for all of the files and folders in your local storage device or any subsection of it.
What great tools! Thank you so much. Also looked at your previous video and found the filesync app. Awesome. Do you also have a top notch free password manager handy?
I have just subscribed to your channel, great tips for a "basic" PC user like myself. I just today upgraded to Win. 11 and really liking it so far. The only hassle I found was I learned the "hard" (time consuming) way was to disable screensaver. I started the whole process and went off and did other things. When I came back to check on progress 30 minutes later or so, screensaver started it all over again. Once I disabled S. Saver it worked fine. A lot of programs seem to run faster and smoother now.
O and how I used to do that, too. The hardest thing was to avoid the commercials and the DJ's voice. Very glad those days are gone. Best of all, the recordings are also gone. : )
Thanks for these tips, I use several of these across your past two videos about free Windows apps, and will check out O&O and ShareX, plus Zoomit that others are mentioning. Maybe my next comment is best for your last video where you covered FreeFileSync, but it pertains to backups in Windows 11, which I think was released after your last video. I had been using Windows File History for incremental backup to an external drive, but it seems that MS is fazing it out. W11 lacks the W10 interface for File History - you have to use Control Panel. So, after considering both FreeFileSync and Duplicati 2 recently, I started with Duplicati 2 and just stayed with it. It's really simple and clean, and does mostly the same thing as File History, with some more comprehensive features, including cloud if desired. And here's a tip. File History in W11 has unfortunately lost the ability to add any folders for backup beyond the defaults (user folders and libraries). But a workaround came to me: I created a new library called something like "More for Backup" and added the specific folders into it that I wanted backed up. It works automatically without having to mess around with any File History settings, and it actually works better than when I used to use the "add folder" option in W10, as that was sometimes a little wonky in resetting whenever I changed drives or turned File History on/off. Finally, I wonder if backing up in general (cloud and local) might be something to cover in a future video? Thanks again for the informative content!
Thank you for your great tips. I searched for "HandBrake" in Microsoft Store, but it did not show up. Is it no longer available or should I find it somewhere else? Thanks again
@@LeilaGharani I am late 70s kid. I remember people used to do it. And some people & store owners did these recordings. Hey could you share the video link where you learned automating excel on this channel?

Thanks for sharing. My favorite free apps:
- Davinci Resolve (Video editor)
- Audacity (Audio editor)
- Gimp (Photo editor)
- OBS Studio (Video recording and live streaming)
- Bitwarden (Password manager)
Thanks for sharing!
Notepad ++ is the second app I add on a new Windows install. Chrome or Firefox is first.
Bitwarden is amazing! I love it!
Audacity is fantastic!
Bitwarden is great. I used to use Dashlane, but it became buggy after an update, so I switched to Bitwarden.
