just some tips Apollo:
If you're playing just drag the cursor to the edge of the screen or mini map. It'll be faster and more precise than use the arrow keys. it can take some time to get used to, You'll get used to it eventually.
Same with replays, about the camera angle, just try get your muscle in alt and mouse to get the angle. I never used arrow key since I play the 1st game.

Well, the Germans are not invincible. As I begin a game, I train 1 engineer and 3 rifleman/infantry squads. It's not about getting tanks as soon as possible, but AT weapons with which you can equip your infantry squads. If the Germans get their first tanks, three infantry teams with AT will suffice to bring them down. You can keep them off long enough to train your own heavy tanks. Remember, the German tanks are more expensive in comparison to the Allies' tanks. So if you destroy one of their tanks, it really hurts their economy.
Oh yeah, and do not feed them XP. It's then when they become a real tank. ;)

Yeah, but do not forget the Soviets rely on quantity, whilst the Germans rely on quality. You can get a T34 pretty quickly, but without a MG on top you'll quickly need a second to keep the Germans at bay.
Then again, an IS-2 costs a lot, but it's preformance is equal to that of a Tiger. So you can't just throw him in. 😉

I usually kite around the Tiger with a faster tank, since its turret rotation speed is rather low. Or I shoot it with more than one tank. ;)
Now THAT really hurts... Well done, it's not easy to trick your opponent into doing that.

Hi P.A., entertaining match but here are key game concepts that can help you out if you ever read this comment:
1.) Early game, controlling and denying fuel is paramount. Fuel = tier tech and tanks.
2.) While allied medium tanks like the M4 Sherman, Cromwell, T-34/76 can engage German tanks, they are very likely to lose every tank fight above the calibre of a Panzer IV. For that you need the support of an AT gun and/or TD.
The only allied tanks that can effectively fight German ones in a frontal engagement are:
Soviet IS-2
Soviet T-34/85 (kind of)
British Firefly
U.S. M4A3 easy 8
Otherwise, like i said you hold them off with AT guns and tank destroyers (SU-85, Jackson TD). The wolverine tank destroyer isn't very reliable against heavy tanks, but is fast and maneouverable which brings us to:
3.) Winning an engagement relies heavily on outmaneouvering, surprising and overpowering the opposing forces. Achieving all three is sure to win you a fight with minimal casualties while dealing maximum damage.
4.) If you dont have fuel and tanks, and the enemy does 》》 anti tank guns and machine guns.
If you have tanks and the enemy doesn't 》》 have artillery/mortars against THEIR AT guns and machineguns.
Also, try to reposition your units after every engagement especially your AT guns to avoid mortars and arty strikes.
5.) In a tank fight, many basic infantry have tank disabling weapons that will prove battle winning:
Soviet conscripts have AT grenades, guards have the LMG button attack.
U.S. riflemen have AT rifle grenades
German Grenadiers have panzerfausts

Not because of the intensity of the Battle, but because Apollo is such a great commentator, i bet, he even can get that kind of energy into a game of Chess. Last time I was this early Apollo used to regularly upload Medieval 2 siege battles
As a player specialized in defence, that map is my absolute favorite, pumping out nebelwerfers and spamming the enemy defences with fire, putting 5 bunkers to defend a small bridge and then losing that all cause your friend made a failed offensive and god bombarded

Achelous river: my favorite COH map since circa 2010. BTW just for future note. It's actually wiser (and easier) to hold the opposite side-island than what your team held. It's alot easier to hold 2 foot bridges (with a single MG and support it with armor) than it is holding two main bridges AGAINST armor, supported with only infantry. It's exactly why you guys "switched islands"; it's just a more natural defence. Just a word to the wise. love the videos man!

Neither were the allies. The allies were being harrassed by infantry and weren't building MG crews. A single browning is enough to pin a squad, making them more vulnerable. Instead they focused on anti tank infantry and anti tank vehicles, with only a few medium tanks.

This battle was so intense. I was clenching my fists and staring intently at the screen in the last few minutes. I was hoping against hope that you were going to manage to hold that point and take the day, but sadly it wasn't to be. When will you ever WIN, Apollo? That's my question for you. When will you ever win?

Historically speaking, the Sherman was more than capable of handling the German tanks at its time of development ( Panzers 3 & 4), but when the Germans developed the Panther and Tiger, the Shermans were in trouble. That’s why it was upgraded with a long 76mm and some extra armor later in the war. Also, due to experience in WW1, the US developed some big time artillery for WW2.

@Pixelated Apollo; Here's a tip, try to issue a attack ground to use max range of tanks; at guns; etc; also try to keep your anti-tanks at a distance or you could issue a attack move, moving towards the destination and attack when encountered enemies; if you do these tips, there's a chance you could succeed.

I remember playing CoH 1 on a map like this, and god does the middle island change hands, by the end there are usually no buildings on the island and the texture of the terrain usually turns to fire and to artillery shell craters, no one controls it, even if you place 4 anti tank and 5 bunkers near the enemy bridge as defences they just do some bombing then attack with a shit ton of men and tanks, my friends and i have nicknamed it the steel graveyard from how many tanks were destroyed on it
a single sniper can hold that foot bridge forever with no issues

Oh yeah apollo just some tips:
1. Never fight infantry using bazookas and Anti tanks, they are extremely innacurate when it comes to infantry.
2. Always, ALWAYS retreat your shermans when they are low health, Never ever charge your shermans or any of your tanks against panthers unless you have a good counter, exchange or gamble or a good amount of tanks that can at least kill one panther.
3. As allies, always fight in groups, they rely heavily on teamwork, NEVER fight alone you can try but it will be very hard.
4. For a tank battle, target the rear of the tank, if you have the chance to target it of course because going to the rear is difficult because people will always click the ability backwards to a tank so you can't hit their rear.
5. Always put any kind of infantry to a cover when they engage to a firefight, this lets them stay in their position to hold as long as possible, increasing their time at the battlefield.
P.S.
This is a super micro-intensive game where you need to stay on track at everything, constantly.

The quote you are referring to is: "Fuck Shermans, fuck Tigers, and fuck war."
A tip from a beginner... don't try to fight Tiger's with Shermans! Anti-tank guns and infantry with bazookas are just fine, especially if you can hit the sides, but this map gives almost no place to maneuver, so maybe next time pick a map that can actually has room to make flanking moves. Also a Jackson tanks destroyer or even better a Pershing is what you need, not Wolverines. Oh and instead of a Comet(they are great for open fields not for this choke point battles) the GB player should have brought a Churchill tank, it can take a lot of punishment frontally.
I thought about bringing a Churchill, I was just concerned for the poor gun it brings, plus I had already committed to the Hammer specialisation so I didn't have access. We definitely should have brought more AT fore the mid game an late. Resources was also an issue for myself, thanks for your input though

In CoH nothing survives from the start to the end, other than probably the engineers, everyone else dies
If you destroy the bridge behind them and then carpet the entire island with artillery it would probably be effective

Hmm, you know, a plus for the US that you could use more often is that they can bail out of their vehicles and the crew can repair it, handy in case of not having rear echelon troops or for a field repair

Hmm a little bit of advice; each infantry group can carry two sets og euipment, noticed your infantry only carried one bazooka ata time. And use the sticky bombs, they are very effecktive against tanks, even the big ones. They demolish their tracks, and have to be repaired, and thereby makes them sitting ducks for artillery and anti tank guns :)

one hint to counter tigers and panthers really simple Pershing :P if i recall in CoH II there is a US commander that gives you a pershing, Alongside this one of the allied players could have been the soviets and use the commander that gives you T-34/85 and IS-2 85 bring a bit of a pain to the germans but oh man if i recall in this game IS-2 was the real menace of german armor
enjoyed the video apollo, but it's clear that you guys are lacking experience. As a seasoned player I was yelling at the screen when you had your AT shooting at infantry instead of the tank. Also shermans have an HE round you can switch to that destroys infantry.... just a few things but glad you're having fun

Just a tip for vehicul use: use the U button to reverse vehicles. That way the tank keeps his front armour front and doesnt take ages to turn and then show their butt to the germans :)

The answer to six Panzer tanks is twelve AT canons. AT is so cheap, you can easily spam a single defensive area. Their only weakness is mobility, but if you're firing at a single area, forwards, then you can easily eliminate them. Sad to see AT used so little in this struggle, and inferior tanks so commonly. You should have won this, but well done for effort. You'll win the next war.
