      We lost a little piece of the soul of Trek when Jerry passed on. His theme became almost as synonymous with Trek as the original series theme. And the man had so much respect for Alexander courage he asked him to compose the usage of the original theme in TMP.

    I saw this at a National Park theater at Zion in southern Utah when it was released. I got emotional seeing the amazing E because all of us original trekkies knew this was the last time.
    I took my friend who had never seen any Trek content but knew of the Legendary Enterprise…when this scene popped up I felt like a proud papa telling my buddy that’s the baddest/most special ship across the stars.

    We never got enough of the E.
    Sovereign Class is one of my all time favorites, not to mention the best name for a class - she really is sovereign!
    I like to think of her as the next Excelsior Class: They'll make A LOT of them, and refit them and keep them around for 100 years. There will be huge numbers of Starfleet personnel who will have only ever served on Sovereign Class ships throughout their whole careers.

    • @Nine-Signs
      @Nine-Signs 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Not necessarily. Starfleet flagships tend to be bleeding edge and massive which I presume would make them prohibitively expensive in terms of resources which would explain why the flagship class of the fleet in any given era never has that many of its line produced vs other classes. Only one that seems to break that rule of thumb is the excelsior class which went on to become the most produced ship of the fleet even outnumbering Miranda Class by near 100 ships.
      As for the E, yes sadly due to budget and CGI being relatively new from the 90's onwards, we only ever got to see the enterprise E take its gloves off once in ST Nemesis and sadly it wasn't a great film. I mean.... space vampires.... in star trek... seriously.... 🤷‍♂ 🤷‍♂
      That aside, the battle sequences were epically well done, we finally got to see the E do what it was meant to do, move like a bird, fight like a daemon.

    • @Z1gguratVert1go
      @Z1gguratVert1go 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Nine-Signs I think the excelsior was huge in her day and then got to be considered a relatively smaller ship when the ambassador, nebula, etc came out. Almost everything after the excelsior is as big or bigger with just a few exceptions. The sovereign actually isn't all that big, she certainly bigger than an old excelsior but she's quite small compared to a galaxy or a nebula and I think we have reason to believe that nebula's were relatively well produced because they are so very large and flexible and adaptable. I think over the course of 100 years it's quite possible that we will see a great many sovereigns as well as variants outfitted for specific mission profiles.

    Nice shot. The Sovereign is the red-headed step-child of the Hero Ships. The glassiest Glass Cannon. To me, it never felt like Home. “We barely knew her,” Picard says in FC - except he could be speaking for the audience. It was disrespected in S3 of Picard, in several ways. It wasn’t at the fleet museum (not saying it deserved to be), then it was dismissed in a throwaway line of dialogue from Worf - though he did “prefer the weapons” on it. 😒

    The last time in star trek that a star ship meant anything was this movie and the Enterprise-E. After this era ends and the JJ/Kurtzman era begins, ships become just meaningless throw away plot devices. The Ent E was dripping in art deco styling, and I loved it truly. Now everything looks like a cross between Ikea and a dentists workplace.

    Your work is excellent. I never liked how much ‘darker’ the Enterprise E looked after First Contact. In Insurrection, I had noticed the paneling on the hull looked greyer, muddier somehow… by the time of Nemesis, I really didn’t like the colour of the ship. It felt like the colour an ‘enemy ship’ should be, darker and edgier, not representative of the clean, bright, enlightened aesthetic of the how Federation was represented in TNG, DS9 and VOY. I mean, the Defiant was a little grey but would be lit so you could see it. It looked clean. To this day, I still can’t work out if they just lit the Enterprise E darkly in Insurrection and Nemesis or when they created new CG models they decided to recolor the panels. First Contact to my understanding was a mix of a lot of model and some CG model shots. I fell in love with the Enterprise E in First Contact, I felt like it was the most beautiful ship I had seen. Why is it movie makers want to make everything dark and dystopian? They miss the point entirely on why some fans want to watch something like Star Trek, optimism and hope for a better future and escapism. The SecretHideout productions take the dark-lighting to an extreme, I can never see their ship designs as everything is so dimly lit. I know space is dark in reality, but this is a television show, supposedly trying to tell a story…

    • @ChrissonatorOFL
      @ChrissonatorOFL  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Nemesis Enterprise E definitely had some repaints and it some design changes so that the ship had armaments at the rear as well, in First Contact, the Enterprise E only had forward facing weapons and couldn't really defend herself from an attack from behind.

    • @ChrissonatorOFL

      Well, First Contact was mostly a miniature... only a couple shots from First Contact are CG... about the only ones are the shot of the Enterprise jumping to warp, when the Enterprise exits the temporal rift.
      The CGI in Nemesis greatly outdoes the CGI in First Contact.
      Also, this video isn't from the movie itself, it's my own animation based on the shot from the movie, which is dated even for me at this point, I could definitely do a crazy quality version now :)
