I'm Hearing that the growing number of expats using year 'round what was meant to be a travel benefit is approaching the end of Schwab's generosity probably on the smaller balance accounts .
I wonder if this friction is intentional due to the costs and head-aches involved in trying to maintain a fixed exchange rate between a local currency and a foreign currency (the US dollar). This could be a sort of unofficial tourist tax.

WHAT? Just get your ATM card and pull out cash. Once you are holding cash, just put it into a CASH IN/OUT ATM into your local bank. American card pulls out money, Cambodia card loads money. Just pay reasonable ATM fee. If you can get a bank account with overseas ATM use free... you have for free. I think a TD Ameritrade did this, some stock place..
@@Stevesomewhere Aren't you pulling dollars from a dollar account? If you pull in multiples of 100 USD you should be getting US Dollars without paying any currency fees. The US dollar is VERY well accepted in Phnom Penh.
I use a Charles Schwab bank ATM debit card for overseas. They refund all ATM fees worldwide every month.

People are dumb. Theres banks that’s pay unlimited atm fees around the world. I get all my money free from the U.S. anywhere I go 😂

ABA is great. It is number 1 in Cambodia.
They have a great app! Can do so much with it using qr codes..problem is moving money internstionally.

There is no reason why a legitimate bank cannot provide its customer its SWIFT code. The bank employees should have that information.
They know the swift code, but it’s not in their financial interest to cooperate with you, you’re being ripped off.

I have a Bank of America ATM. BOA charges 3% withdrawal fee when withdrawing fromATM in foreign countries. It is NOT FREE.
Tried that...with Acleda bank..Fee was only $5us but lost $10 on the exchange...
