Excellent! I escaped the matrix. No more escalating costs, contentiousness, chaos, negativity, war like crime, and no respect for elders. SE Asia was the amazing choice for me. I will never move back. I love myself too much
Oh, you couldn't be more correct. Thank you for your comment !
Couldn't agree with you more , life here has a different rhythm to it , gives one time to pause , and clearly think things through , as for weather , this April was particularly rough for me , I too am no fan of the cold , but I would add , not a fan of excessive heat as well , the Khmer people do make living here much more enjoyable , watching the rain as I type this , one of my favorite activities , happy to hear you survived your adventure living with the Cat Lady 🤣, take care , Peace
I cannot agree with you more. You are spot on.
I do like cats, but not 8 housecats!!!!
New subscriber. Seem like a good cool stand up kinda guy. Realists in his own right, I like that in people.
Thanks for subscribing! I try to stand up... unless I'm sitting down making videos.
Also, thanks for the comment and for watching the video !!
Thanks for your Vlog; the 5 things that you mentioned are exactly the same reasons that have made me choose Cambodia as my future home!
As they say, Like minds think alike!!!
Me. Too bro I live in Canada. I will move when I retire. Rent here. are expensive. 1700$ monthly. ❤
Yes, I hear ya. Too much $$$
i agree. personally, i don’t believe buddhism to be a religion. it’s more of a philosophy/ way of life. also, if i may add…i think your living in the best place SE country for tropical fruits and veggies. without the worries of chemicals since farmers can’t afford them anyways, plus everyone there is terrified of chemicals .
Yes, I feel much healthier. Again, thanks for your comment and for watching the videos !!
Thanks for sharing brother.will be there in October for a visit.
Hope to see you when you get here. Thanks for watching !!
Well done, sir! You are spot on with all the key points , for those of us who now calls Siem Reap our new home country and as a US retiree I wholeheartedly agree....another great video, aukun chraen bong ❤
I agree with you 100% and thanks for watching the video !!
Yes. S.E. Asia is perfect for retired folks on a budget as compared to the U.S. The food is so fresh and wonderful. The people are so nice. The heat and humidity is a little tough. The positives outweigh the negatives by far!
You are absolutely correct. Thank you for your comment !!!
Great video. The humidity is brutal for me. It's one reason I'm still a snowbird.
It can be trying sometimes. Thanks for watching !!
@@AutumninAsiaWhat does trying or brutal mean practically speaking , especially for folks in our retired age demographic? How can people tolerate either living in a sauna or being confined to air conditioning 24/7? I just don't think I could handle that heat and humidity.
And the issue of sanitation in food stores and restaurants especially because of the heat?
@@dovygoodguy1296 Yes the heat and humidity can be challenging for sure. I spent many years in desert cities so I'm kinda used to the heat (sort of, it gets tiring after awhile). The humidity for me is ok, my body does better with the humidity.
As far as the foor goes, I have never been sick from the local foods from the markets. The times I got sick was from a popular French restaurant here in Siem Reap.
If you are curious about how you could handle the weather here you would need to come and experience it for yourself. It may be as brutal as you think, or it could be doable.
Of course different people have different ideas as to what those two terms mean,
Thank you for your comment and thanks for watching the videos !!
@@AutumninAsia At my stage of life and having lived in NYC and New England I would not want to have to be confined in air conditioning or to live in a sauna.
One thing that all of the videos about reasons to move to Cambodia include is how sweet, kind, and generous the Khmer people are, and I agree! It's so refreshing to be around all that kindness.
But are they kind to other Khmer/Cambodians?
@@Kimbuja777 Just like anywhere else, it varies greatly. I've seen doting love and harsh anger.
Yes, it is. Thanks for the comment !!
Yes they are. Thank you for watching !!
Love the vlog 💕 and great reasons to move to Cambodia 🇰🇭 I've been there 15 times myself and I too will be retiring early in Cambodia. Be well my friend. 😊 Things have changed a lot in the United States 🇺🇸 and keeping up with the Jones and Smiths gets old.
Oh you are sooo correct. Thanks for the comment and watching the video !!
So happy you found a special friend
Yes, I am too. Thank you for your comment and for watching !!
nice to see her in a thumbnail finally!
Thank you. She is also on this video.

Thanks for watching !!!
Thank you for continuing great videos..well done. God bless ya
Your encouragement means a lot to me, thank you!
Great chat Kelly. I can relate to your reasons. It was nice to hear. 😀✌
Glad you enjoyed it! How is it going down south??
Cambodia is centrally located to other SE countries. You can hop on a plane and 1 hour latet you are in another country ❤
Yup, one of my main reasons for being here. Thanks for watching !!
Yeah.... I pay less for an amazing 2 bedroom apartment than I would pay for a room in a house shared with 4 other people in The USA. The only things that are more costly here are electricity and things imported from the West.
Yup, you got that right !!
Great video, we’ve been in Cambodia twice and we’re in our forties and can’t wait to retiring there also! United States is just getting more crazier! Glad to hear that you’re happy being there! Thank you for sharing ❤
I do like the rain in Cambodia
So do I. Thanks for the comment !!
The "cat lady" story was perfect ! 🤣
I survived. It got worse when spring came around !!!!
Love this video ❤ thanks for sharing 👍👍
Thanks for watching !!!!
You are so right about the positive nature of the people. Thais are similar in that way. No mention of politics. It's refreshing. Westerners are neurotic in comparison. I'm trying to cure myself of that bias of complaint.
Yes, I'm a recovering American !!
I was there to the end. --- Saw a video from the Philippines and a traveler who said it was cheaper in Cambodia than in the Philippines ! --- I was surprised by that because of Numbeo saying the opposite. Confusing - but as I contemplated my past 3 years of videos - I suspect it all depends on location - cause the Philippines has a wide range to pick from. More choices than Cambodia has with many more varieties of cost of living. --- I really like Siem Reap - for example - but - 4 or 5 places in the Philippines on different islands - for example !?! > Whereas - Cambodia only has 1 that really appeals to me. --?-- Can't wait for your next cost of living video - I always adjust them to my tastes and have fun doing that - compared to my US life !!!
Philippines is the worst. Thailand, Laos, Vietnam and Cambodia are clear winners
Thank you for the comment and watching the videos !!
Philippines is cheaper but quality of life is much better in Cambodia. Good infrastructure, less pollution, less traffic, fewer people. Weather is also not as hot in the Philippines.
@@justicerules1373 Philippines is not cheaper than Cambodia. Food is unhealthy crap, internet unstable, rent is dearer . Transport between the Islands is unreliable. Life is the best and cheapest in Thailand…but the Women in Philippines are more loyal then the ones in the rest of the Asia.
@@Isz2134 , I am thinking about Siem Reap vs. Mindanao but if we compare Manila with Pnomp Penh, living expenses may be about the same. I don't know your claim about Filipina loyalty, I really doubt it. I saw most of the expats married to Filipinas that are older, below average looking and already have prior children. They can't no longer find Filipino husbands so they turn to foreigners. Most of them aren't good looking at al
G'day mate , there are many varying reasons why people move to Cambodia, from the young to the not so old lol , but I think are looking for a more peaceful lifestyle without the nonsense, for me it's family get together, lol , catchya...
Spot on Bro!! Thank you for watching !!!
How do you avoid jury duty?
If it happens, either tell them you hate everybody or you're are on an extended trip !!
provide proof of foreign residence.
LMFAO JURY DUTY that is HILARIOUS
I worry you’re letting the Secret Out ,
Oppps !!!!! My bad !!
Only 5 reasons??? You live like a king with the new fancy apartment…
I did not want to make too long of a video. Thanks for the comment !
gotta keep the video short... attention spans dropping haha
Thank you for sharing
How about a village cooking video. That would be cool to see how the local live and eat
Give this video a go, You might like it !!
@@AutumninAsia I watched all you videos 👍🇰🇭
@@KennyNoun Hey Sparty, I know you are my #1 fan !!!!!!
Ah, those "cat ladies"... I can imagine.
Cambodian people are so much more open than neighboring Thai. In Thailand it is all about money. No real relationship is possible. Money is king in Thailand. Fake smiles...no friendship. I find Cambodia way friendlier and "warmer".
Thank you for the comment and for watching !!
From Dallas tx Great video how far you like from pup Street. How long been in siem reap??
I've been in Siem Reap for 2 years now. I am about 5 mins by moto to Pup Street.
Thanks again !!!
I love your videos ❤
Would you view some accommodation for family please
Well, kinda hard if you're not moving BUT, you can go to IPS website and look at hundreds of places.
Thanks for watching the video !!
Do you get Medicare? Can you use Medicare in SR? How do you select , use, and pay the Medicare supplement?
As far as I know, you cannot use Medicare in Cambodia.
Please do your due diligence in these matters.
Thanks again !!
no medicare coverage out of the usa. some advantage plans offer temporary emergency-only coverage.
Very nice reasons … what about VISA … ? have you lived in other SE Asian countries? Can you do comparison video?
Easy. Over 50 retirement VISA is about $300 per year.
The visas in Cambodia are the easiest to get. I have spent time in The Phillipines but that was back in the 80's.
Thanks for your comment and for watching !!!!
Yup !!
@@AutumninAsia looking forward to the VISA comparison video and your notes
❤❤
Thank you !!
Are you able to vote in US elections while living in SR? Do you keep your state residency? How to update if yes?
I vote by mail. My daughter sends me the ballot and I send it back. Then she posts it.
all u.s. citizens have a state or territory of domicile. there is no federal only citizenship. voting, wills, taxesall vary depending on the place that you choose to be your domicile.
Hey great video very informative, your apartment looks great, we have visited SR a few times as tourists but want to stay long term can you recommend an area? We want small apartment in quiet location perhaps within 15/20 minutes walk to centre! Thanks
Check out IPS-cambodia.com
They have 100's of listings in Siem Reap. As far as a location, most areas are good. Really, you would have to check out the different neighborhoods and see what feels right.
Thanks for the comment and for watching the videos !!
Welcome to Cambodia brother 😊
he's been there for a while :)
Thank you Ratanak. I feel welcomed.
Thank you for watching the videos !!
Yup, over 2 years !!
What i don't like is when someone makes a video of a Country and you know the Truth about the Country and you know the Person is Sugar Coating his Video. ( Im talking about those Philippines videos) I was in Cambodia in the 1980s and also in Laos...
Thanks for the comment and for watching !!
🙂❤👍
Thanks again !!!
thanks a lot for sharing your reasons, you made a good choice
Glad it was helpful!
If you feel that you have found someone that's worth spending your life with, and she feels the same, that's it.
Time is precious and happiness is important.
Enjoy your time in this world.
That is so correct. Thank you for your comment and for watching !!
How do you file US federal income?
I use an online company like Turbotax for my 1080. There are lots of tax laws and is different depending on whether you make a lot of $$ or make $$ in Cambodia.
Thank you for the info and also for your comment !!
no need
@@phlezktravelssome people have investment and some other income…
Sulfur soap will help with your skin condition sir
Thanks for the info and the comment !!
Do the ATM’s work well there ? What is the maximum withdrawal amount ? Canadian here . Love your channel and very informative. Thank you . 😊
@bobbyjames4300 plenty of ATM's to choose from and have different processing charges for overseas cards. Most I found were USD$400 you can withdraw at one time. I'm from NZ and used ABA (found everywhere) or Canadia banks.
Just like bhutstar comment. Thanks for watching the videos !
Thanks for the comment !!!!! Appreciate it.
Thanks for watching !!!
curious to know how Cambodia life is different from say...Thailand, both of which probably share a lot of similarities of lifestyle. I retired to the Philippines.
Same but different is the saying here. Some say that Cambodia is like Thailand 20 years ago. Thanks for watching !!
⚡️🇰🇭🥂
And thanks again. Also for watching the videos !!!
When I moved to Cambodia 10 - months ago, I thought Siem Reap was where i would retire. But after spending a month in PP, and visiting
a couple of days in SR, I found it too boring for my liking.
If you want just peace and quiet, SR is the place. If you want to be a bit more wild, there are other places to be. I do agree with you. Thanks for the comment !!
I just moved here as well
Siem Reap Cambodian very nice
Hi Kelly! Which internet provider do you use?
For my phone I use Smart, as for the home internet it comes with the apartment and I got it upgraded by the manager so I'm not sure. It works great.
Thank you for watching the videos !!
Is there anything to do in Siem Reap? Non tourist things. Nightlife?
Yes … google Pub street. Nice restaurants and bars next to river.
Nightlife like Pub Street and Sok San road. Many other bars have sports, karaoke, trivia, etc...
is Cambodian cuisine similar to Viet cuisine?
I don't know. Never been to Vietnam.
Thanks for watching !!
What about the medication, is it good or poor ? How much do you rate it ?
There are pharmacies just about on every block. 4 or 5 international hospitals also. I would say it is really good. Although, you may sometimes be unable to get Brand names but you can get generic. Thanks for watching the videos !!
#6. You'll be a millionaire there and you're treated best for your bucks. Cambodia might not be suitable for everyone but git it a try as the country has come a long way since the prolonged civil war was officially ended in 1998.
There are always pros and cons no matter where we live. Be open minded and be kind whenever possible. It's always possible as most of the locals still live with only a few dollars a day.
Mondulkiri is further north east of the country and the weather is much cooler year round but it's not much to do unless you like wild mountain and elephant sanctuary.
Glad to hear you still like SR. Peace and enjoy it as life is short to do the things we don't love doing from a genocide survivor 🎉
You are spot on my friend. Thanks for watching !!
nice to see you here KM
@@phlezktravels Glad to hear from you as well 🍷
Look at all those comments! Looks like a lot of people know a cat lady here or there lol
I thought I forgot all about it but it just came up🤢🤢🤮
In Cambodian you can be rich the amount of your social security money
Well, you can live more comfortably than in the USA.
Thanks for the comment and for watching the videos !!!!
I know why I love siem reap ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Yes, it is nice. Thanks for the comment !
Bro is creepy
Thanks for sharing your opinion! Thanks for watching the videos !!!
OSHA would have a hear attack for sure .... lol.....
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAAHAHAHAHAHA.
Yup !!
Just so you are aware...... I hate OSHA hehehe.
It is an irrelevant organization.
They can be a pain in the butt !!
@@davidwhittington8178 same as China and Cuba, they don’t believe in OSHA either…
Cambodia water and electricity bills are at least 4 times higher than Malaysia ,apples and oranges are very expensive in Cambodia.
Yes, you are correct, but still less expensive than living in the USA. Thanks for watching the videos !!
