I've lived in Hamilton, Ottawa, Toronto, Vancouver and Calgary. You would have a hard time taking me away from Calgary. Fresh clean air. Big blue skies. Good people. I love it.
Calgary is a place you don't appreciate if you grow up there. I grew up in Calgary, and have moved to London, England -- I appreciate it much more now that I'm living somewhere else. The video shows it well, Calgary has it all. Don't take it for granted if you live there, it's a rising city, only getting better.
Make your Calgary glass half full or better yet, embrace the good fortune you have in living here & realize that your 3/4 full glass could be brimming with the pride of living in a great city! Born & raised here and after 50+ years of traipsing the globe from Lagos to Kathmandu and Colombo to Copenhagen, I always embrace this city when I return and am proud and honoured to promote what we have wherever I go. So quit complaining and help to make this a better city by what you to do make it so!
I visited Calgary in 2016 and stayed in The Art Hotel. They had a TV channel that continuously repeated this video. I enjoyed this song and video so much, I must have watched it a hundred times while in the hotel. It made me fall in love with the city and it's people. I still regularly watch the video and fondly reminisce my visit. I look forward to returning some time in the future.
I was there for almost two months, went home to Montreal, and now moving back for good. Montreal is a beautiful city, but I guess Calgary is the best place to fulfill your dreams. :)
Great video, I'm from New York and I've been to every major Canadian city and I think Calgary tops them all nicest people best weather greatest night life great city
I'm from Edmonton. I love the mountains, Heritage Park, Inglewood Bird Sanctuary, the Zoo, Canada Olympic Square, Community Natural Foods, Spolumbo's, Nick's, and how all the Public Libraries are easily accessible by bus. I enjoy the Hitmen, the Stampeders, the Flames, there is an awesome transit bus and train system that I use to get to all of the above. I don't need multiple pairs of black shoes, just a pair of black western boots, and since there was snowfall in the video, it's also honest.
I moved to Calgary from a small town in Nova Scotia, and Calgary actually is an awesome place. If you look for negativity, thats what you'll find. I feel a sense of pride for my adoptive city when I watch this video.
I don't understand what some of you are talking about! Calgary is amazing! I was born and raised in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil; lived in New York for 13 years and I have been here for 8. Calgary is the best kept secret as far I am concerned! Yeah, no beaches but I love the sunshine and the friendliness of people - except of those, I guess, who left pretty nasty comments! AND... the director of the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra is BRAZILIAN! I'm telling you... Calgary rocks!
This is so true, getting skate tickets downtown while traveling at a walking pace feels awesome. There is a new proposal out by Calgary Association of Skateboarding Enthusiasts to put some more parks in. Check out their site.
Completely agree! I have lived all over the world, traveled and explored much of this planet, but I choose to live in Calgary... I was raised here and no place has ever measured up to this space; there is a joy, spirit and vibrancy to this city that cannot be described. It beats in the heart of every Calgarian.
I first came in 1984 and have seen incredible positive change since then.Calgary has been a great place to raise my family, build a business and earn a great living. It has a really good live music scene with many great local musicians and venues. It is developing a good arts and cultural scene as some amazing local talent and more people from elsewhere come and bring their worldview and outside influence to it. - true its conservative but is full of decent, friendly, open positive people also
Well done guys! Tthis is clever and well done marketing piece for people to post on social network sites and drum up interest in our city. But seriously...What's with the haters that are ripping it apart? My guess is that they're not even from here... guess what? If you don't like it, then move, no one is begging you to stay. We get it, you hate the weather, the peace bridge, the night life, the traffic, blah blah blah. It's tired - take your negativity back to where you came from haters.
Props to local musicians Jocelyn and Lisa, I actually discovered their music via Reverbnation a few weeks ago, prior to watching the video. The song is dope.
I am a born and raised Calgarian and I love my city! There really is a great vibe here and oh so much to do. I can travel all over the world, but I will always come back to Calgary. It's home! Great job on capturing a glimpse of what this great city is all about.
fantastic video - I love that even though we are a world class city in so many different aspects that we still need to market ourselves to attract even more, such smart and well done thinking. This video has captured a lot of the amazing energy in only 2:49, I am grateful to live here and fortunate to have been born here. Calgary Rocks!!!
Man I love my city!......even more so now how I've witnessed it come through the flooding so fast and strong because of the awesome people who live here! Calgary....please never ever change
I would showcase the things that make this city special. Proximity to the mountains; winter (be honest); the museums (we have two really good ones at least); the Jubilee Auditorium; trade shows; festival season (we have a festival literally EVERY weekend from late spring to early fall). What I saw was nothing but GENERIC shots of people smiling. I don't give a crap about that kind of thing... INSPIRE ME to enjoy Calgary; don't show me generic stuff!!! (and 500 chars is really short)
There is no such thing as a perfect city. The video does a great job at highlighting some of the things that make Calgary great and diversified. Calgary has a flourishing economy with a very low crime rate compared to most major cities. Also, their backyard is surrounded by some of the most beautiful wilderness and mountain ranges in the world. I love Calgary.
Also, others move here for the outdoors and proximity to mountains. Again, this means that people are less likely to invest and spend time in the actual city itself! There are perks to Calgary, but don't move here if you want a textured, dense, and diverse urban experience. It doesn't exist.. yet. For those that do live here, please help us make it a more interesting place!
I think it's great. They obviously put a lot of hard work and energy into making a destination video with high production value and beautiful imagery! Way too much summer in there though. Maybe more x-country skiing, tobogganing, drinking hot chocolate in the snow, zoo lights and such would help the video resonate more with locals. We aren't your target market, but we are ambassadors for the city. Great video overall though,
The series is planned to begin filming in January 2021, in-studio at the Calgary Film Centre in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Among those involved include Lisa Henson as executive producer, and returning performers Karen Prell and Dave Goelz (who will also co-executive produce).

Did you actually watch that video - there are plenty of kids, the mountains appear, and the Stampede is there too. It's showcasing all of Calgary and it needs to appeal to the younger generation too - which it does.
Great Job. I was wary about the new branding campaign (the lowercase c still doesn't make sense to me) but y'all should be proud of what you've done here. People tell me Calgary is such a boring city, that there's nothing going on. I don't get that, there's so much going on this city. The arts and culture scene is pretty big, if you can't find something every night of every week to do, then you're not looking up from your smartphone screen..
Coming up there from Arkansas in January for my 1st ever visit to AB! I've been to GTA and MTL many times, but really looking forward to seeing The West of yall's beautiful nation! Of course, I'll be seeing it from a bobsled flying 80+mph down a sheet of ice, soooo......
Downtown Calgary has great urban fabric and it's improving exponentially every year. Look at the billions of dollars worth of condo developments they've seen alongside urbanization projects in the Beltline and East Village. Calgary has lots of trendy areas in and around downtown you just have to get out of the burbs is all.
The video is nice but I thought it was a shopping commercial. I had to read the explanation to find out it's a video about how cool my city is. I love Calgary, I've lived here most of my life. My husband moved me away for a short and I demanded we come back but as far as a Calgary ad campaign goes, it could be better. My first response honestly was "so where do I buy the car." And seriously, I preferred "Heart of the New West." I remember that one.
yep, doesnt have to be..and doesnt have to not be. (last comment from me on that) Overall, I guess what Im saying is I find the Remember to Breathe ad(s) more about what/where is seen, and less about looking at people.
There were kids, families, older people, the mountains, the Stampede, they showed Calgary's ethnic mix, about the only thing they left out was a flock of Canada Geese, LOL! What I thought was cool is some of the business people looked to be 30+. If I was an American with some career years left in me, and a family, this video would prompt me to check out business opportunities in Calgary.
Here since 1984, loved it then with little over 600k population. Bough first brand new house (little ove 1000sf) in 1987 for $64k, now it costs 300k, people make just 50% more than then. Deerfoot trail is now a parking lot during rush hours, city doubled in population. Recreational places overcrouded especially after last flood that ruined infrastructure. Wish it were still as it was in the 90s. Vidoes like this attract more people from the east who either compete with not so good employment opportunities anymore or end up homeless if not having good trade or proffession. Locals get it tougher to compete over workplaces. We had good emenities compensating for harsh winters before, now it's becoming just a "rat race" city like other overpapulated cities, nothing compensating for the harsh winters. 30 year long opinion.
LOL! Some of those scenes I thought "Yup, only Calgarians are crazy enough to be out dancing in the snow". My husband and son were both born in Calgary. Both of them think it's normal to wear shorts when it gets to +2.

I miss living in Calgary and all it has to offer, but don't miss the cold winters and mosquitos in the summer. :-)
I moved here from Toronto 7 years ago and love it more every day. Great video.

this song is for my studios finale this year. The message is really sweet. Its also perfect for Calgary, and Alberta, and Canada. OUR HOME!

Agreed easily one of the best cities in Canada to live, no the world! I have traveled so much in my life but Calgary always feels like home to me.
I think this video is great! Hip, youthful, and modern.
Looks like a great place..i will look into it more cause of this ..thanks!
I absolutely love this city, and this video was part of the inspiration I got to move here.
Wow! Beautiful video and city. Wishing being there.
I would also love to see the full credits.
I really love this city, great job capturing the vibe.
This video makes me fall in love with the City. See you soon Calgary!

RIGHT HERE
c 2012 Mike Shields (SOCAN)
Right here is where I live
It’s where I breathe
It’s where I feel every moment going by
It’s where I’ve come
To feel the sun
And the freedom of this endless open sky
And I am here
Yea I’m right here
Right here is where I think
It’s where I dream
It’s where that dream has got some hope of coming true
I take a chance
And join the dance
I feel there’s nothing out there that I couldn’t do
And I am here
Yea I’m right here
Right here I feel love
I feel safe
I feel welcomed to the day with open arms
There’s something new
A change of view
A kaleidoscope of fantasy and charms
Instrumental/vocal break
And I am here
Yea I’m right here
And I am here
Yea I’m right here
Right here it feels good
I wish you could
Be with me…
Right here
I saw an edited version of this video as a commercial on comedy network (from Edmonton). Very well done guys!
I love this city! You made us all proud!!!
Jocelyn Alice's phenomenal voice brought me back here.

This is such an awesome video - excellent job!
jocelyn alice and lisa jacobs did an amazing job on this :D
Can't wait to move back to Calgary. I miss the super friendly people who are truly accepting of you whoever you are. Montreal no fun no more :(

Awesome! I forgot how many great things there are to do in this city!! Can't wait to float the Bow again this summer!
I really admire this work and recommend the movie maker to add some shots showing attractions in winter! There's really much more to present!
LOVE TO BE THERE. NICE MUSIC
it took me a long time to love this city
I fell in love with first sight
Really why???
That was really well done! Loved it

My Mom is in this video! @ 1:33 In the backround behind the woman by a hotel table. The name of the woman by the hotel table is Nasima.
I love the song.
You can see me and my boy playing on the ol'slackline in the park at 0:07, didn't realize I'd be in a video like this!
I LOVE THIS CITY!!!!!!!!!!!!. Best place on earth... hands down!
I'm really looking forward to leaving this city, but boy will I be looking forward to coming back to it.
Man, I miss home so much. Want to move back to cowtown.

bu ur I cannot argue but as a MAritimer myself in this beautiful city I will strive to leave it a better place when I eventually go.
dad used to tell me Calgary used to be a better place,i still love it
Yeah! Bowness or anywhere along the Elbow River!
Well said sir, well said!
My city ❤️
LOL! Some of those scenes I thought "Yup, only Calgarians are crazy enough to be out dancing in the snow". My husband and son were both born in Calgary. Both of them think it's normal to wear shorts when it gets to +2.
This is because of Nenshi !! Plys the Bow tower is worlds most spectacular building !! Woooo

I like that song
Where is that outdoor ice rink at? Haven't seen it before
myself, I lived there, and have traveled all over the world.
Great Video. The feedback comes from my mother who wishes the video had age-diversity. Most of the people in the video are young individuals. In future videos consider including people of all age groups.
Calgary is the best. This amazing city doesn't deserve hate, everyone is just biased. Since I'm from Calgary, I think Calgary is better than any other city. But if I was from Vancouver or something, I'd think Vancouver was better. It just depends on you. Calgary is great, doesn't matter if you like it or not.
God bless Alberta! :)
Just so I'm not all negative, this is a great looking vid and I'm glad you're promoting Calgary. You're trying to attract people here, so obviously you aren't going to show footage of blizzards and police tape and flashing lights (that stuff happens everywhere).
You are right, transit is a complete joke compared to major American and European cities, and it seemed like it was built without expansion in mind. However, Calgary is starting to slowly change, and it is a very clean city with lots of potential. It has a great international airport, and I believe efforts are being made to get a better transit system going. Anyhow, it's not a world class city, but it does have some things going for it.
A lot of the things they showed are either low-cost ($5-$10) or free. It's always free to go to Nose Hill park, or to Prince's Island or to Olympic Plaza.
Can you credit the producers/directors/shooters too? Awesome song, awesome singers, awesome video, I'd like to appreciate the other people behind the visuals too!
Good to see Calgary is showing of its lack of commitment to decent public transportation.
Awwwz and lol? wth i Grew up in this city and born at the start of the time stamp of video. I'm so confused why i find no cringe(except the CPS :D ) and go like meh, yeah normal life.. good times.. I was born in Calgary but, I've lived in Ontario and in BC, there's no place like home.
Nice upbeat vibe!
A pity that Calgary's amazing Revv52 singing group didn't make the cut. And I don't think I spotted the marvelous Nose Hill Park. Otherwise, thumbs up!
I want to move there.
