I agree about sewists not being in competition with each other. I learn something new with every video I watch! I love how we all share with each other!
I am so glad you took that class, lol! Sharing aha ideas is priceless. Reminds me of the saying: a candle loses nothing by lighting another candle. Thank you!
Thank you, Janine. You're right about the sewing community. There's so much generosity in sharing tips, techniques and knowledge of all kinds. I've yet to tackle making jeans, but it's on my 'to do' list (which is very long - also characteristic of we sewists!) and your video has now given me a head start. So thank you again for sharing what you know and have learned. Regards, Anne
Using the triple stitch for top stitching I have always done because I am lazy... I was happy to find out it is a "valid" sewing technique😂. Thank you for taking the time to pass on this information.
Thank you for this informative video. Your jeans look fantastic. I have this pattern and will definitely make them using all those brilliant tips. Keep sewing.
Thanks for the tips, Janine! I have pre-shrunk denim, a jeans zipper and jeans pattern in a project bag, for over 1.5 years now. Your tips are so helpful! Thanks for sharing. I might be motivated to start them, now .👖 Bernadette
Tip #6 is one I’ve needed for years! I’ve seen garments for 55 years, and always struggled with the buttonholes on pant fly extensions, because of the unwieldy bulk ! Now I won’t! Thank you!!!!!
OMG the waistband tip is absolutely brilliant! I just had the Carlyle jeans pattern from Style Arc printed, and have some thrifted denim to use as a toile. I will be using all of those tips. I don't have access to advanced sewing classes/retreats, so I really appreciate it when you and your fellow vloggers share. Enjoy the sunny weather! We had frost here in Southern Ontario last night. My local library has acquired a wide paper printer and they are only charging $1 a foot for printing. I'm hoping it will be able to print sewing patterns. Also no worries about commenting back, just a heart or thumbs up I enough but of course only if you have time. And a sew a long for jeans would be great.
I have started them yet, it's just too hot here for jeans. I've made some summer tops and pajamas. My great neices are is dire need of shorts. Since I was cutting a bunch out i decided to cut more for some coworkers little girls. I think yesterday I cut out 20 pairs of shorts and 5 sundresses. All are super fast to sew. The jeans will probably wait until September. Thanks for asking.
OMG! those are wonderful tips to share, the most pratical one for me is the waist band extension.... that is genius. Thank you so much for sharing these tips with us and wouls love to see a video on sewing these jeans. I whish i could take a course with him that would be so valuable but unfortunatly mobility is a big issue for me and the distance but i do apperiacte that you were able to get a great pair of jeans, they look fantastic on you! Thank you again and like you, I love the sewing community we have so much in common together. 😍🥰
Hi Janine, I have also been making jeans for about a year now! Closet core ginger jeans. I’m getting better, but you touched on some excellent points I have had trouble with. This was a perfect video for me! Thank you! Cathy
The jeans look awesome on you. You did a fantastic job on them. These tips are so appreciated. Don’t feel bad about not getting to everyone’s post in a timely manner. We understand you have other obligations.
Thank you so much for the tips. The jeans are so cute-I like the bird on the pocket. So kind of you for making the video of the actual waist band tip-perfect for even non-jeans patterns. Your buttonhole looks fabulous without all that internal bulk. What a wonderful time of the year to memorialize your Mum. The weather will be lovely.
Thank-you for sharing. The waistband buttonhole tip is perfect for wool and corduroy pants and skirts. I have used the Mettler silk finish on Liberty lawn and it worked beautifully.
Hi Janine. Great video. I took Ron’s class to and haven’t quite finished. I was all ready to do the belt loops until I saw your video. I never wear a belt. You have just given me permission to leave mine out too. I’m that much closer to finishing thanks to you. 😊
Thank you for sharing! The topstitching tip is 😍 brilliant and also 🤔 “why hasn’t anyone thought of that before?” I have jeans in my “to sew”queue and I don’t really have room for a spare machine for topstitching on my sewing table. Blessings to you and your family as you remember your mom this weekend. -Adele
Hi there Janine I remember you from pattern review I was Baja Susanna when I was living in Mexico, but I’m in Florida now. I’m going to embark on a sewing blog and I’m looking around various ones and I’m not gonna use fancy software. But I do enjoy yours your videos And this was very helpful especially with the waistband that could be used on many things not just Jeanne. I hope you’re doing well with your. Vlog.
Amazing tips - thank you so much for sharing them! The jeans look absolutely amazing on you. Well done!! I’m so glad the weather is finally nice in Alberta. Hope you have a great day tomorrow. 💞
Thank you so much for sharing all these tips with us, I was amazed at all of them 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼. I’m going to save this video to watch it again and again 😊😊😊
Linda, I use buttons that don't need a tool other than a hammer. I really like them because they go on well and look good. You have to be certain where they are going because there is no turning back! I have not yet used rivets although I have purchased some for the next project. Thank you, Dena! When I attend Ron Collins classes they are taught at Out of Hand which is a fabric store here in Calgary. Ron has classes scheduled for July, and I would bet that he will be back in the late fall, too. He teaches jeans classes, fitting retreats (not just for fitting, he helps with everything), knits classes, and pattern alterations. It’s funny because I had someone in real life tell me that the triple stitch is a mistake because it’s impossible to unpick. 🤷 I think it looks great!
Great sewing tips! Thank you so much for sharing.
You are so welcome!
O my goodness that waistband tip is genius 😮. Now I have to give that a go!
Glad it's helpful!
Thanks for the tips. ❤

Sewed several pairs of jeans before but will definitely be using some of your tips in the future. thanks!
Your jeans are fantastic. All the tips were great but the waist band tip was brilliant
So glad that it was helpful. And I’m really appreciate of the tips that Ron shared.
Thanks for all these tips. I have not tried the triple stitch and it sounds really interesting. Your jeans look amazing !

Cathy, I'm glad it was helpful!
Ron teaches a class on sewing the Ginger jean pattern. Do you recommend that pattern?
I actually really like the Ginger jeans.
So with my little knowledge on jeans patterns I’d say yes.
Can’t hurt to give it a try.
Cathy
@cathyabbott5742 Thanks! They have a different shape than the Creston jeans so worth a try.
Thank you so much for passing on all this valuable information. I just used the waistband idea, and it worked perfectly.
Glad it was helpful!

Marie, I hope you have those jeans done now, sans belt. Why bother if we don't wear them? 😆
@@JanineSews Agreed. I feel so foolish thinking that I had to. Ron is a super teacher. I’ve lost count of the number of classes I’ve taken with him.
Thanks for the great tips, Janine! The waistband tip is incredible! I’ll be using it for all my waistbands now. 😘
Awesome information! Thank you! I use the Mettler silk finish cotton thread for quilting and love it!
I bet it looks really nice on a quilting project! It has such a nice sheen.
