The latest iteration of the v3 has dual zipped pockets inside the front pocket. I bought one and its been great as a flight personal item (I don't do one bag travel on flights - my travel is mostly international through huuuuge airports and the walking is insane) with my carryon roller. Its just simple genius? Keep my often needed items (charger, keys, sunnies) in the zipped pockets inside the front pocket, then use the main front pocket area as a temp storage for when going through security to dump my phone, wallet, watch etc, then later while lounging as newspaper, magazine, book storage. Pretty. Fkn. Fantastic.
I’ve been using a version of this for a year and I love it. I was a little aggressive with a zipper and they had amazing customer service and rebuilt my entire bag with a better zipper. Also, totally agree about having an upper shelf in the front outer pocket.
I just bought mine two days ago and I am so excited for it to get here soon! BUT CHASE- please review the Hillside! I’m debating if I should purchase or not. It looks like a badass carry!!!
The Conceal V3 looks like a fancy version of the Mystery Ranch Kletterwerks Summit. My current daily carry and a sweet heart of a bag! Thanks for the recommendation on the Summit, Chase!

I'm going to get another brown buffalo bag, the hillside, but I don't know the difference between 1680D Ballistic Polyester and 420D Nylon. Which would you recommend? Your videos are awesome they sparked my interest in other bags besides mainstream brands like north face.
Hey Chase, y'reckon you could talk about that little laptop pouch a bit more? How secure and protective is it? I get that you can 'suspend' it by putting it above the bottom of the bag but is it padded and will it offer protection from, say a stainless steel water bottle or the metal head of my Joby gorilla pod? That pouch thing just seems like such an afterthought from Brown Buffalo which doesn't make sense given his resume so there must be a reason. I'm just hesitant on putting my $4K 15'' MacBook Pro in something like that where there's so little info online about it (he doesn't even sell it on his store). Looking for a good EDC and travel backpack and really had my eye on 19L but this is the one thing holding me back. Thanks!!
Oh man, I hear you. I personally haven’t been very precious with my laptop, less so than others I think, meaning, my laptop is in more compromising situations than others, possibly. But I’ve never needed more protection than a solid few layers of burly material with some padding in between. My take on the brown buffalo sleeve in this bag is that it isn’t just thrown in at all. I personally like a sleeve in this bag which may be an option in the future. Great question.
@@TheBrownBuffalo love how you're creeping into so many comments in this thread! Bought the 26L and I've finally found my perfect bag (for a flight personal item)
But does it have a spot for your trail mix and mushroom powder and jerky? Seriously tho looks like a super well made bag, love the little bits of color inside and the Tom bihn style thin straps. Not sure I like the laptop sleeve tho, looks a little thin and unpadded, but I guess it’s nice that it’s removable.
Chase, thoughts on 19L Conceal vs 21L GR1 from GoRuck. I am about 6'2 and am suck between these two bags as well as the idea of upsizing to the 26 or 27L to have as a one bag for both EDC and one bag travel usage. Any thoughts or opinions, let me know.
Well, you can always try the 19L Conceal for a much smaller chunk of change first. My preference would be the the Conceal right now, but there's still so much I love about the GR1.
Chase Reeves is the 19L conceal too small for one bag travel? Really love the look of this more than the Synapse. But the Synapse seems to have more external access.
This bag seems like a slightly smaller, more organized CPL24. I have the the CPL24 and it just leaves me wanting a bit in terms of organization. This appears to be a nice mixture of that Evergoods aesthetic plus some Tom Bihn-ish style inserts like a pouch and a Freudian Slip lite for some "built-in" organization. Thanks for the review. I ordered one. Cheers!
Kyle Bailey i have the aer day sling and it’s awesome, and if you don’t fill it up, the footprint is small and very comfortable to access your stuff. The heimplanet is really small
rafael reyes thanks for the input. I’m thinking I want to air on the side of having a bit more room than not and the footprint based on the dimensions don’t see so different when packed into another bag. Not sure if you have cameras or anything but you wouldn’t happen to know if an A7III with a pancake lens would fit in the aer sling?
Great bag but still needs a few updates. Wish it wasn’t too flimsy and held its own more (more like a Dayfarer). Needs better side pockets (one or two) for a phone, a power bank, and a top quick access pocket. The front pocket needs work. At the very least it needs to be compartmentalized. Don’t necessarily like to two inside big pouches, could’ve been two (or more) zipped compartments for organization. Would’ve preferred those big pouches/pockets to be on the side of the bag.
Different strokes..... this is clearly not what you need. Conversely its exactly what suits me as a travel personal item. From what you've described, the Aer Tech Pack may be ideal for you.

Goruck bags are totally uninteresting since they raised their prices.. there's so many other bag companies out there making good stuff that's worth more support than Goruck that seem unable to make their business sustainable. I have many of their bags.. but no way they are worth what they are charging now.
Chase do you do female bags as well? I mean most backpacks are unisex but do you or could you recommend a TH-camr that does what you do but from a female perspective? I am here for you but I got my fiancee Marissa a backpack 2 but she doesn't have the same needs as I do but I still wanted to get her something good. I went with the Ogio Soho bag for her www.ogio.com/womens/soho-womens-laptop-backpack/ogio-backpack-2017-soho.html but it bothers me that the side pockets on it don't hold a water bottle. The middle drop pocket is a good substitute but now useless side pockets. I wanted to get her the Brown Buffalo in blue but the quality for the ones that aren't made in the U.S. seem to not have all the bells and whistles as well as the quality being less. The main issue is it's not really cute for her at work like the Ogio Soho is but do you have any recommendations for something or someone in regards to this? Any help on this would be great.
