    I did not expect to hear PT de Chardin mentioned on here, but I should have because you're my kind of dude - whenever I watch your videos, you remind me of the outdoorsy, hippyish, well-adjusted mennonite dudes I grew up with, and that's the biggest compliment I can pay you. I'm reading de Chardin's The Divine Milieu right now, coincidentally, after having read about him in Annie Dillard's For the Time Being (another really good book!). Take care, man. Love the videos.

    This bag looks almost perfect. They fixed the laptop compartment by raising it up off the bottom (unlike the CPL24); they figured out how to make the pockets independent -- not impinge on each other's space when packed out (I wish Boundary Supply had figured this out with the Errant!).
    I so wish they had some sort of mesh or air channels against the back, though. It's been over 100 degrees many days these past weeks in my neck of the woods. So this could be a bag for 10 months or so out of the year, maybe.... I suppose I'd live out of a messenger bag in the summer anyway.

  • @Lance54689
    @Lance54689 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I'm using the Burton Kilo pack, and it also has a substantial pocket at the top of the opening flap. Agree, not a good place to put heavy things, it causes the back to sag and also makes the unzipped flap heavy and unwieldy. Good for light things I want to grab often, like a hat and gloves. But, more than anything, I always appreciate a medium sized pocket with its own volume.

    i have the CPL24 and while i love the bag i really don't like the shell material (the same shell material this bag uses). It picks up hair/light debris easily and also eats your shirt/coats. Meaning when i started to wear it daily, i noticed the abrasiveness of the fabric was rubbing away the cotton from my shirt. It also caused my fleece jacket to start pilling at the small of my back.

    - Ergonomically curved back
    - Dual external water bottle access
    But more:
    + dedicated laptop pocket
    + MR's tri-zip demogorgon-aliens-vs-predator main opening
    + more internal organization
    Thank you, Chase! Love the energy in your videos

    • @Jedwoods
      @Jedwoods 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      the straps on the UA24 (plus the fact that the laptop cpt pushes the load so far away from the body) means it will suck in terms of load carriage. It's a shame because mountain/military MR's harnesses are the best in the world, but their EDC stuff really lets them down.

    You think materials are as long lasting as in Goruck bags?

    • @matangur2215
      @matangur2215 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Much more if you ask me. Goruck bags doesn't have an internal linear in the sides (like evergoods 420d) . Leaving the cordura fabric exposed to abrasion from the inside where it's weak. If you got gear with sharp edges it will cut your goruck frim the inside.

    I want to love this bag but there’s no admin panel whatsoever. I carry a lot of small items and admin panels and also exterior storage is key for me.

      Nope, even 15" can be a tight fit depending on how big it is.

    I don't understand why EVERY bag has at least one compromise. If this had a mesh back or air channels so your back didn't sweat it would be perfect and I'd buy it. But alas, the search continues...

    • @orbispictus6127
      @orbispictus6127 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      People have had a lot of discussions on this. Not really an issue for some. Mesh or not, they don't see any difference. Perfect for one doesn't mean the same for other.

    Teilhard de Chardin, huh? Well then, if you haven't read it, I highly recommend his "The Phenomenon of Man", also translated as "The Human Phenomenon". That book is to his philosophy as the Dude's rug is to his living room.
