I'm glad you go over ambient mode. To me it's the most important because it's rare to get good natural sounding ones, which I need to for work to hear my surroundings without constantly feeling secluded and having to take em off
I work in a electronic store and we test all these earphones and your noise cancelation list couldn't be more wrong! Really! Even my colleague who works for Apple loves the Bose Ultra and was so impressed by its noise cancelation!
A bit late to the party, but in my opinion and statistically the AirPods Pro (1 in my case) are really good headphones. I never had problems with the Pro's since I got them 4-5 years ago. I'm wanting to switch away from AirPods as I'm going to switch to Android after a long time. And as we know, Apple doesn't like to make their products accessible to people not using the whole Apple ecosystem
Coming from the XM3 earbuds, I loved them and they were solid for 4 years. The XM5 are okay, but was really disappointed that Sony took away the ability to increase/decrease volume from either bud. Sony dedicated one side to increase and one side to decrease volume, which is an inconvenience especially if you wear one bud in certain situations. Furthermore, the foam tips are really uncomfortable, but you can request silicone tips from Sony.
to me the boss crush these... the Bose are more comfortable, they sound better and the ANC is far more powerful. The Bose app is also much cleaner. The Bose are bigger but they sound WAY better.
@CodeBonYT I did and bose is better for my liking. It's not that much of a difference between them as far as sound. But over all for my liking bose does it. You can't go wrong with either.
The bose App sucks. Yeah it's cleaner but what's the point if I can't connect my earbuds to it to begin with. Not to mention the static I hear with the bose
I honestly like the bose better here yea there case is bigger and no wireless charging but I think they sou d better and better fit and comfort and I like there touch controls better
I'm sitting in my kitchen testing both. Running microwave, taping a fork on the counter. Stomping my feet, opening and closing fridge. And for my ears the Sony massively outperform the bose by a significant margin, and the Sony don't have a dull roar when not playing music like the bose do.
Ive gotta agree with everyone else here, the Bose have head and shoulders the best ANC, way above either of this guys 2 top picks. Im not sure if he’s using scientific measurement or just anecdotal results ‘by ear’ (i suspect the latter). That said the Sonys sound pretty good (id still pick the Bose )
Reason i said Bose is because I had the Sony XM4 and I had to play with the EQ in order to get that desired Bass. With the Bose, the Bass is naturally good overall. That's my 2 cents.
Apparently in testing the XM5 block more sound and the ultras are close, than the headphones, but its on rig data so maybe its mileage may very territory, great review on the sound
Consumer Reports, which does not accept advertising , rated the audio quality ( for music) on the Sony significantly higher, the best of the many tested. But the Bose, including the lower model QC, still rated “very good”, in second place. ANC was rated equal, but it depends on the type of intruding noise. They tested dozens of buds and headphones, also give reliability projections. I personally found that Bose exaggerates highest frequencies, making for a bit of distortion and brightness in the extreme treble. The incredibly cheap feeling case of the Bose and refusal to include wireless charging on a flagship model demonstrates a certain disdain for its customers, in my opinion.
Bose QC 2 and Ultra are different level compare to mostly different earbuds in a market, except mic quality. Everthing elese is much better. Comfortable, ANC, sound quality, ambient mode, controls are incredible. Small things like app or box size is not playing a rolle here.
I don't get why people say that the Bose QC ultra earbuds lack physicality in bass or sound muffled, the immersive audio definitely takes it to a whole new level IMO, and the fit/comfort is just way better than Sony's. ANC on the Bose is also superior, there's really nothing else to ask for.
I keep hearing from TH-cam reviewers that there's a hiss sound on the bose when not playing any thing on them. That's the biggest turn off for me, as I plan to wear them in bed for their nose cancelling feature while playing nothing and reading a book. But if they hiss, then that's going to be a big turn off for me. Can someone tell me who owns a pair of the bose ultras, that if they hiss or not?
I can confirm. The left ear has a static sound that is noticeable in a quite area. Which is the main reason why I'm getting a refund. Not ti mention I can't connect to the bose app at all.
I'm waiting for my third Ultra. First one had hiss on the left bud and the 2nd had both hiss and static. I also own the XM5 and Bose has better anc and more comfortable. I also prefer the bass and general sound on the Ultra. I don't use either for calls coz both are horrible but XM5 is a little better.
I had both, sony is better simply by the fact that the bose qc ultra always have a mosquito electric noise in the left earbud, I returned them 2 times just to discover it was not a defect.
LOL those of you asking how this guy is giving a review so different than everyone else, he's pruning comments that are critical of the Sonys in any meaningful way. There's your answer lol
Hope this review helps anyone before they purchase the Sony XM5. my issue is right off the back I was disappointed with the max volume of these. Definitely not loud enough for my liking. Not with worth the dollar amount. I had the klipsch before these which were louder and more crisp for less
@@halfwaysleet We all appreciate your sincere medical advice. Hearing loss is a very serious thing and I can't thank you enough for looking out for random internet strangers. TLDR: STFU
Sony is not even close to the sound of Bose. I returned my Sony's wr-1000 because the was weak and flat compared to my Beats fit pros. The Beats ear wings bothered me though so I switched to the Bose. Bose was so much better not even close
I loved the Bose but a year later I have nothing but connection problems with them , I have to reset them every time I want to use them and feel like I wasted my money on them .... Now the right one won't charge anymore , it might be the case but it is nearly £90 for a nearly case which is a joke and might not be the problem so hesitant to buy one to check
I was shopping around for a new set of ANC earbuds and found this review pretty useful. Thanks! However, particularly interesting was the pretty large number of people who seem to have differing opinions drom the reviewer regarding things like noise cancelling performance, comfort and sound quality which made me wonder - why are they viewing this review if they already made up their made and made their purchase? Are they viewing this to agree/disagree or validate their purchase? Or are they viewing this with their mind already made up? It seems like a fool's errand, either way.

For real. XM5 ANC is almost non-existent I don't understand what these people are on about.
I don't understand why everyone has to bring in the AirPods when the comparison is between Bose and Sony.
Exactly. The moment i see airpods in the convert i lose interest
because a lot of people have iphones and assume its the best earbuds for their phone...pretty obvious
@@solisr131 iPhones are not sold along with airpods. Lol

I just got the technics each-az80. These are so under rated, great pair of earbuds.
May I ask about comfort and fit?
Also ANC?
Thanks for the detailed comparison, i hope you find success with your channel.
Lots of app connectivity issues with the Boss earbuds
I noticed with Bose, that if I put them in only one connects, then I got to put them both back in and try again. Annoying.

Bose are the best here. The Sony has a touch better in music reproduction but the bose just do everything better.
to me the boss crush these... the Bose are more comfortable, they sound better and the ANC is far more powerful. The Bose app is also much cleaner. The Bose are bigger but they sound WAY better.
This guy doesn't have both. The ANC is measurably better on the Sony.
Totally agree. I had both but ended up selling the Sony. I hate the part where Sony always makes the sound whenever you sit, stand, walk, etc
@CodeBonYT I did and bose is better for my liking. It's not that much of a difference between them as far as sound. But over all for my liking bose does it. You can't go wrong with either.

@@ajcphwhen I had Sonys I hated this, luckily there is a single button in the app to stop this feature
The NC from the Bose is definitely better
yer I agree. The Bose U are better than the APP2 by some margin. Not sure how he gets to this conclusion?
I honestly like the bose better here yea there case is bigger and no wireless charging but I think they sou d better and better fit and comfort and I like there touch controls better
Which is the best in terms of ANC? I need a pair of earbuds as I spend most of the travelling.
bose
Sony
BOSE QC ULTRA
Bose is the best. But in terms of call quality, both are poor, Bose being poorer
I'm sitting in my kitchen testing both. Running microwave, taping a fork on the counter. Stomping my feet, opening and closing fridge. And for my ears the Sony massively outperform the bose by a significant margin, and the Sony don't have a dull roar when not playing music like the bose do.

Which is stronger bass punchy ?
Sony bro the bass is good and it feels good I own wf1000xm4 the bass here is very good in xm5 I think it's more good
Bose for me
yes it could be bose many are telling bose ultra has very real bass
Reason i said Bose is because I had the Sony XM4 and I had to play with the EQ in order to get that desired Bass. With the Bose, the Bass is naturally good overall. That's my 2 cents.
Bose
What is better any one have these and give me reviews please I was thinking of buying AirPods Pro 2 but I want something cheaper and best help me 😅
what is the best sound quality and bass
For me the size doesn't matter bose just sounds way better than other available buds
Bose after trying Sony. Sony has some plus points like the wireless if that’s your thing but the Bose ANC and louder volume was a win.
I had the XM4s but they only lasted a little over a year before having problems
Apparently in testing the XM5 block more sound and the ultras are close, than the headphones, but its on rig data so maybe its mileage may very territory, great review on the sound
I should really thank you. You are the only one that compared the talking voices. Now I am sure that Sony suits me more😀
JBL extreme 4 / clip 5 / go 4 at CES, but it uses new connect series auracast cus when the partyboost came people were not happy
Is it backwards compatibility?

do the linkbuds s vs galaxy buds fe please.... those are 2 buds I can afford.
buy linkbuds s it's very similar sound to Sony 1000xm4 or wait for one plus buds 3 launching near

The Bose QC2 lasted 2 weeks before being unable to pair. So I'm not buying the Ultras.
Well, I only had the ultras a week no issues, since the ultras are the newer model, Bose could have mitigated the issue.
