Comments are back! this is a rare game, you can find it on ebay ("abandonware" sites have a glitch where you can't save with the barbarian). the CD version has no special features not found in the floppy disk version.
I used to have this, I'd always get annoyed when people died because they lost their stuff. What was with the random 'Golden Brown' song being in there. Was that there all the time?
Oh yeah! I remember spending *weeks* playing this on a ZX Spectrum some 20 years ago =))) BTW, if you're here for the music, there was an absolutely epic piano version somewhere on zxtunes.com, called "Heroquest in-game piano" or something like that...
Why does the player click on every individual square in order to move? IIRC you could click any number of squares away in the same room in order to move
i wish that there was a heroquest game for the gbc, gba, or even the ds, that would rock, I never did play the pc game, but there's a fan made game out there, but would love to own this game, thanks for the video, i think i have commented on this before, but i owned the board game back in the day, but i got rid of it, and am proud to say i have owned a second copy of the board game
ebay for this game... though there is now (as of 2022) a free "companion app" for the remake board game (fully compatible with the classic game, just has 3 optional new heroes) but it only works on android or ios (apple) mobile devices. you need a treasure deck and your own dice, but otherwise just pencil & paper if you don't have a full physical set. NOW there are also fan-made games called "Isometric HeroQuest" by Lurchbrick (same author as the Space Crusade fan board video game) and there are also VASSAL mods that have a HeroQuest theme. YeOldeInn has the links to these free games.
Despite the obvious thematic inspiration from Tolkien (who was inspired by European legend & mythology) I learned that D&D evolved from "Chainmail" which was inspired by earlier castle war games (never played them but I remember those little plastic knights that had green metal bases in the 80's, and advertisements for similar types of miniatures in comic books from the early 70's). fantasy dungeon games were spun off from fantasy war games which were spun off from traditional war games... a fascinating history! but we all owe Gary Gygax and his friends a debt of gratitude.
Actually they do. If an Amiga soundtrack is reduced to the technical capabalities of another platform it's crap. But when a soundtrack has been specially made for MIDI or the C64's SID chip, then it's awesome. ;) Btw: I am a C64 owner. :P
yes another fan game! there's now (2022) an official companion app for the remake game (works just as well with the classic versions too). keep in mind they assume you will be using a physical game with it, though dice and treasure deck are really all you need besides pencil & paper
it has its flaws for sure, but it was really a novelty in the 90s to have a video game version of HeroQuest. if you exploit the weaknesses of the game it is probably the least challenging version you could ever play. I have some nostalgia for the intro and music, even though I didn't own this in 1991 I have played it a lot.
For the purposes of pointing, we give thee... The short, squat battleaxe.
We also offer thee at 0:59 the ballad of "Golden Brown" by the Stranglers.
I still have this board game after 15 years or so. I play it with my little cousin. Greatest board game ever.
the music sets the perfect tone for this game, eerie, tense and awesome!.

me and some friends played some quests last week and today. we all love it even if its a tad geeky.
love dos games! they had the best gameplay unlike the games of today which are all about great graphics and sounds.

I love the boardgame. This is the first ive seen of the video game. It seems pretty cool and has that 90's feel to it hehe.
back in the day this was the best board game ever
01:50 nerdgasm at that OPL3 soundtrack
I remember playing this on an amstrad. Great game.

Awesome, I still have my board game. I heard there was a video game, where can I get it?

It's only 20 years old. Dungeons and Dragons came out MUCH earlier and is the "prime father" of all role playing games.

@HardWarUK which piece of music?
musics rockin'
@HardWarUK
Do don't happen to know which piece is it, do you?
I've played the 1991 PC version of HeroQuest online.
ah interesting. so did you play it through one of those browser emulators? because there is no online play option...
@@HeroQuestFans I've got videos of me playing them on my channel.
Awesome soundtrack
got this for the zx spectrum and still play it, with no colour.
and it's still better than some 360 games : )
Nothing can withstand the might of... THE SHIELD!

Yes, the Amiga version had mod music.
Brilliant game
you too were brilliant!
I've met Peter Davison.
@@danielwilliamson6180 Os he a person of some grand stature?
I wonder if this will work on a 64 bit system with windows 7? Maybe Dos Box can do it. Can you buy this still anywhere?
I got my copy on ebay. it works perfectly on latest dosbox on window 10, circa 2022
@@HeroQuestFans I used to have dosbox, not sure if I still do.
Funny that they stole The Stranglers - Golden brown for the soundtrack
How do i get this work on windows 7 i have the cd and all?
the game works under the emulator known as "DosBox"
Where can you get this game?
You can Google it. In case you never found it 14 years ago. Maybe you're married now
Are the maps randomly generated? That would kick ass =D
sadly no, they're always the same, mostly based directly on the board game versions but some are simpler or even reversed!
I LOVED IT WHEN THE FIRST ORC GOT KILLED!
I USE MAR BRAUDSARD
FIRRE OV RATHE!
Am I the only one who's bumpin' to the song?
wow this beats the living shit out of the commodore 64 version. and it has more colors other than brown grey black and white lol
on amiga this hq is better,so use winuae to emulate it,if any1 like hq try Lords of Chaos its litle bit diffirent but i think You will enjoy it

Still don't get why he does it to begin with though..!
Thanks for the like on my 10 year old comment 😆
Highlander fan i see ....thats cool
14 of zargon's monsters downvoted this video...
The Amiga version had so much better music - it's the same melodies, but MIDI is no match for the sampled music of the Amgia.
wow is this game made like in 1985?...........
there is a hero quest game on android go to google play

Qué tío más inútil. Deja ya de consultar los menús y juega, me pones nervioso.
that game sucks so badly idk why you play a game like that when you can be playing like RoM
