    Missing Barbarian! The only game ever where you decapitate someone...then a green goblin comes on, literally kicks the head off the screen...gobs off at the dead body...and drags the body off with it...tight gameplay and great graphics made this one of the best games on the C64, and arguably one of the best ever.

    It’s probably almost impossible for any of us to agree on a top 10, as we all had different, most likely, awesome experiences with it. For me, the Epyx series (California Games/Winter Games etc) felt so far ahead of their time. Defender of the Crown was also an excellent game, along with Rocket Ranger, Strip poker, Racing Destruction Set, Ultima, Alternate Reality, Mail Monsters, Montezuma’s Revenge, Project Space Station, Beachhead, Super Huey, and Leisure Suit Larry! I bought a Aprotek 1200 bps modem, to replace my 300 bps one, just to download a Kathy Ireland picture.. all 16 colors of that pure goodness. If you squinted just right, it was epic.
    Sporting dual 1541’s and a ram expander.... nothing beat hitting enter on LOAD “*”,8,1

    • @nakazul1

      I agree, Epyx Destroyer, now there we had a game ahead of its time. Hard but fun.

    • @MegaasAlexandros
      @MegaasAlexandros 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You are correct. You hardly ever get everybody agreeing on any top 10 lists ie top 10 arcade conversions, top 10 fighting, top 10 race games, top 10 action adventure etc etc. The only thing people agree to is the Microprose Soccer and Emlyn Hughes were the best soccer games and as a shoot em up Armalyte is hard to beat.

    • @totophi
      @totophi 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The Epyx sports series were hard to beat! Unfortunately I remember them beating the 1541 heads mercilessly...
      Racing Destruction Set was quite ambitious... if only loading times could have been improved.
      Montezuma’s Revenge! Perfect play mechanics, no disk access in-game... Many hours spent in bliss. 😎
      Raid Over Moscow!
      Grand Prix Circuit! Snappy loading music! Decent physics!
      F-14 Tomcat!

    Many Years i have C64...in Time from 1986 to 2000.
    My favorite games was : Paradroid (play every day), the Simulations "Gunship" and " Silent Service".
    Pit Stop 2 played, and the Western Shooter "West Bank"....by this was the Music GREAT !
    German :
    Von 1986 bis 2000 hatte ich zwei C64 mit 2 Diskettenlaufwerken (1541) ...und 3 Diskettenboxen mit ca 300 Disketten.
    Paradoid habe ich mehrfach täglich gespielt und mein Rekord lag bei 1,5 Std Spieldauer, 7. Raumschiff und so 300.000 Punkten.
    Die Simulationen "Gunship" (Kampfhubschrauber Apache) und "Silent Service" (U-Boot) spielte ich sehr häufig und hatte da sogar Orignale ;-)
    Damals habe ich auch viel C64 MUSIK gesammelt und sehr viel gehört :-)
    Sogar auf Audio Kassetten aufgenommen...
    Als "kreativer Mensch" habe ich auch viel mit "Amica Paint" (Zeichen PRG mit den 16 Farben) gearbeitet und hatte mir ein sehr teueres "Video Digitalisierungs Modul" gekauft mit dem man Video / TV Signale "als Bild in 4 Graunstufen" in den C64 laden konnte.

    Those are all great games. Armalyte (Thalamus, 1988) for me was the greatest shootemup ever released on the C64. Wizball was such a quirky, inventive game. International Karate copied from Way of The Exploding Fist which was released in 1985. Elite is worthy of a mention although it was orignally made for the BBC/Acorn computers. It changed the face of gaming, a work of genius by David Braben & Ian Bell imo.
