    Looking awesome. The only suggestion I’ve got with ideas for the canopy fitout is keep it real simple without too many draws and plenty of just open space. Also maybe a bit of 50mm square mesh straight down the middle to seperate the kitchen area from the swags etc. being mesh you can hang stuff off it or tie things off.

    A few tips for the canopy fit out. Put foilboard insulation on the roof and front and back walls. It would fit nicely between the frame of the canopy. Also use aluminium composite panels if you are wanting to line the internal walls. It’s much th same price as plywood but is lighter and looks super clean. No need to paint or carpet it.

    Great job, be proud of it, impressive effort. The holes in the sides where the stands slide in...they might come in handy when camping. Mount a slide in cooking bench or place to mount awning poles...or don't use at all, least there's option there.

    looking good boys!
    suggestions:
    glue some cheap foam floor tiles or similar around the fridge, it'll make a huge difference to the performance.
    add some weather protection to your anderson plug, mine was setup in a similar way but corroded badly after a year or so
    keep some open space in the canopy. in extreme weather, you can always sleep in there
    weather protection on the piano hinge, nothing worse than leaky canopy (dust or water)

    Nice fellas! I will say the kings fridge is really good, but one thing I did was install a small fan between the freezer and the lid screen, hooked up to the negitive switch of the rear fan. When the compressor kicks in so does the fans. Cools 10× quicker and cost about $30.

  • @richardatkin8526
    @richardatkin8526 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Looks really nice, well done! Don't run a canopy myself as i have a wagon but suggest keeping it relatively open/ empty on the passenger side so you can adapt to needs of each trip/ daily use. Less weight and more space available with canopy on means you won't have to take it off as often. 🤷🏽‍♂️

    Great job on the Nissan I have the same fridge in my Jayco J pod and it works really well. I added a small fan which connects to the fan circuit and only runs when the compressor runs but makes it more efficient and keeps the entire fridge at the same temperature and only cost around $5 and under an hour of work

    Wow. White Stallion. Digging the reflections - how cool the interior is - intelligent choice on white paint! Looking at the thin walls of that Kings Fridge I’d expect the compressor to be running a fair amount. If you rig the fridge with space around it that you could fill with additional insulation, you might increase the efficiency and life of the compressor in the fridge. During the day you could stuff your sleeping bag or sleeping pad around it to keep the fridge cooler. This would work in concert with your reflective white canopy to keep those beers cold. Just a thought.

    Another great episode guy! I found it extremely easy using a socket on a drill to jack up and down the legs. With the slide out pantry move it over 150mm and bolt hot water shower to the other side. That will also give you room to run a water tank

  • @chasinlines4803
    @chasinlines4803 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Id suggest rethinking the canopy mounting. If your fully fitting it out but still wanting to take it on and off youll end up either having to leave random spots for those bolts to drop through or having to move everything. If you have the space id flip them so the bolt comes in from underneath and your nut is welded into the canopy floor

    A very neat and tidy job indeed. It looks like a new vehicle. Someone suggested you weld the securing nuts to the underside of your canopy; I would not, consider using wing nuts instead - can be held in place viet your finger and you do not get to spoil the paintwork with welding. Happy travels.

    I've got no suggestions of where to put stuff but one suggestion I do have is when you drill a hole in either the canopy or the tray paint the hole with some rust proofing paint. Even if you have a spray can and spray the tip of a cotton bud. Also, look at nylon nuts and denso tape for your hold down bolts

  • @hamishkearney542

    I would consider some insulation in the canopy, Liam. Nobody does that, but on a stinking hot day it might keep the inside about 20° cooler? Also it would hide the framework/cavities between the framework. Anyway, even though I'm a Landcruiser guy, it looks good. (Please don't let anyone know I said that a Patrol looked good!)

    Nice work. I'd insulate the roof, as a minimum. Depending on the size of the box sections of the frame, go down to Bunnings and get a Foilboard insulation panel that's as close to filling the void as possible. Then get an aluminium composite sheet to cover it all up. Lightweight and it'll certainly make a difference.
    Suggest fitting the aluminium load runner channels like the Grenadier has on the doors to secure plastic boxes or anything else, keeping the back simple, flexible and lightweight

    Matches so well on the tray man! Would be alright to incorporate a travel buddy hanging from roof of inside of your canopy so doesn’t take up floor space and travel buddy’s r so good to cook with! Especially while driving and now you both got lithium no inssues! Buy a step up convert and you’re sweet! Go induction if you can afford it power wise and on drawer in the middle of fridge and pantry with a slide out bench. And couple drawers on drivers side

      Thanks David! Will definitely be doing a weight comparison with and without the canopy once i have it fitted out. I think the canopy in its bare form weighs around the 100kg mark

    Could you have a roof top tent on the Canopy & work it so that you can take the canopy off at a camp site that you are going to be at for a couple of nights and be able to go wheeling in the Beaut UTE ?

    Mate looks smick, I reckon after seeing your number plate you should throw a bit of yellow on the roof and rename your rig cockey "CKE" just like you should feel driving this smart rig

    You should glue a piece of white material to the inside of the APB cut out on the pantry to make the logo pop out more

      Wouldn't have to if it was on the curb side like it should be... hopefully he realises and changes it as it's much better

    Have you thought about some hand painted scrolling ,pin striping just to outline the canopy and maybe the ute . Like you see on trucks . Not the stick on striping but hand painted lines and swirls . It would set it apart in my opinion
