    Fantastic video and the presenter was professional and clearly spoken! I looked long and hard before I found out how to change out the coil s on my S10 and can tell you all that there are a lot of comedians out there that annoy me when I have a problem!

    Thank God for people like you who take the time to make videos for us Do-it-yourselfers. Save us all kind of money 💴 💵. God bless our wives who let us use their nail polish. Good call on that!

    I'm about to do this procedure this weekend. When I changed the plug wires last summers, I just took the overflow radiator tank out from above the wheel well. Saves you from having to jack the truck up and take the tire off. plenty of room for both hands. Thanks for the detail in your video.

    I'm changing the module tomorrow on a beater s10. I'm going to space it off of the hot engine block. May have to build a custom bracket to the firewall or the frame. Lol. Ridiculous location for the coils. I usually cut the inner fenders open wide for increased air flow, less engine box heat build up. I did that on a sport trac and that thing blew so much hot air out of the driver fender well that it felt like a blast furnace chimney. 😂

    8:20 This is a common mistake: Dielectric grease does NOT conduct electricity. It is an insulator. The grease should be used sparingly
    around the inside of the rubber boot to seal out any water incursion but NOT on the actual electrical steel connector parts.
    Otherwise, a very nice video and thanks.

    No... the ones I ordered did not have that orange gasket (insulator). However, the picture on Parts**** shows the gasket. So, naturally I thought it came with it. I know it is not Part*****'s fault, they didn't make the parts. That's what you get for buying the cheaper ones. They show separate gaskets for sale, but all I saw was packs of 10! I don't have a 20 cylinder truck, so I don't need 10....lol. I have a 97 Sonoma, 4 cyl 2.2, but they are the same as an S-10. Thanks!

    my 1998 4 cylinder s10, bogs down when just Cruising or Idoling every 5 to 10 minutes. Once I depress the gas pedal it wake up. But it's getting worse. Do you think this is a coil problem

    where is the ignition control module located , I replaced coils because of rough running issues and then it started briefly with a misfire, checked my plug wire firing and then got no spark so im guessing it might have fried the ignition control module just dont know where to look

    I have a 98 chevy s 10 pu 4 cyl and my engine light comes on and my truck is hard to start. I took it to auto zone and I had to plug the machine in under my dash. It printed out error codes.PO304 cylinder 4 misfire detected and 2 of PO442 emission system leak detected. Up top it says to replace Ignition Control Module (ICM) Can you tell me where that ICM is located? All I can find is it is in the distributor housing near the ignition coil-remove the distributor cap, rotor, and dust cover. I don't think I have a distributor cap, so can you tell me where this ICM is? I appreciate any help you can give me.

      @@redneck7381 I finally had all that changed. It kept fouling out plugs. Finally, we figured out it was the computer and had to put new plugs in over and over. Once we got a new computer, everything worked and has been fine. Thanks for sharing.

    What causes my truck to shutdown while driving

    • @jasongentry7405
      @jasongentry7405 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      If by shut down you mean lose all electrical power cold dead in the middle of the road?? I own a '97 and GM used the alternator like a hot junction. There is a wire there on the alternator that will kill the whole dang truck. Check those wires.
