The oil change is easy. It’s the 20 screws to remove the under cladding and then the reinstallation that’s the pain! Holy cow….

This is the Best video for this car for oil change. I always drain oil first then drill/hole punch a hole in the bottom of oil filter then unscrew for a clean pipe change. The reason I was searching is there a way to reset the oil change on dash cluster without having to hook a computer to it? So stupid this car doesn’t have a oil dipstick. I can see them oil reader sensor’s going bad and not read right after 60-80k miles . Nice video

took it to brakes plus and they added oil to the full line. the next day i drove it, my alfa was shaking at idle and my engine light was blinking along with the ecs and ast and a couple other codes…i didn’t do anything different but when the car warmed up, it stopped shaking. it threw p0302, p1062, and p0363.

Cut an access hatch in belly pan? Pop rivet a couple metal tabs on one side, some sort of latch opposite side, so it comes off like a tv remote control battery cover.
Is there a laptop app or something a diyer can buy to access those menus, reset dash light and oil level?

If I’m not mistaken that fluid is filled for life just like the trans and diff but I’d have to double check. If one comes around I will definitely make a video for it.

For the dash light, you can do the procedure that requires you to step on the gas pedal to the floor 3 times within ten seconds with the key on engine off and sometimes it requires multiple tries but for the radio warning you have to use a capable scan tool which is a hefty cost itself.
I have a snap on scanner would i be able to reset it w that?
I love the Giulia, but I do wish that they would learn some lessons from the Germans with regard to easy servicing. Having to remove so many screws and the undertray to do a simple servicing task is ridiculous. On most German cars there is a flap in the undertray for draining the oil and the filter is easily accessible from the top. And don't get me started on the lack of a proper dipstick.

What? Removing an under body tray is easy, and the German cars a have them too. But the German cars (made in the last 5 years) are a mess once you take off the cover. Zillions of plastic bits and fasteners in your way. This Alfa looks like it's easy to work on. All the important parts are metal and there arent rats nests of tubes and wires in your way!
The Last Alfa i owned (a giulietta required about 20 screws to be undone so that the undertray could be dropped to change the air filter. On a VW/BMW the same job is done at the top with the removal of a few clips or 6 easy to get to screws.
1 can’t do it itself if I don’t have the computer to look at all that?!
MY TRICK IS TO MAKE A CENTER PUNCH AT THE OIL FILTER SO IT DRAIN MORE OIL OUT AND LESS MESS

At how many miles to I change my oil? Just bought a 2023 Giulia with 100 miles I have 2,000 Miles’s and it’s telling me oil change require.
How does one get the Alfa/Mopar scan tool to reset the instrument panel cluster (IPC)? What is the cost on something like that?
So I know for us it’s $500-$600 for the plug in dongle. As far as the software goes you have to make a account and subscribe to that, kind of like all data. I believe the website is mopar technical service portal. Here’s the link mopartsp.com/login
Sorry I know its not related but can you clarify the mystery behind the proper coolant? Lot of confusion on the forums regarding which coolant to use, Mopar purple fluid apparently isnt compatible with the factory fill orange Petronas Paraflu UP? My car has orange fluid it in it now, not looking to flush the whole system just need to top off the Engine coolant reservoir on the passenger side and don't want to mix fluids. Paraflu is available pretty much no where, Mopar is easily available
Yeah I’ve been using the purple coolant that’s provided to us since we got Alfa back in 2017. If you don’t feel comfortable mixing colors I would suggest ordering the petronas from an online store.

As long as you use the correct filter and oil there shouldn’t be any issues with vehicle performance.

Yes you do. For the notification on the instrument cluster you can try the key on engine off pump gas pedal to the floor slowly 3 times within 10 seconds method but it doesn’t always work. For the radio notification you need software and scan tool that is capable.
@@hycastrois the scan tool proprietary? What does it cost to acquire one? $300 for an oil change is absurd (to those of us who have never paid someone to do an oil change), but if the tool costs $3000 then it would take more than 10 oil changes to pay for itself!!! That's horrible! (context, I don't have a giulia, but I'm thinking about one)
What is the name of the software and scan tool you're using?
For this specific video I was using the dealership software called witech 2. In my 4C oil change video I used a scan tool called autel which is more commonly used in independent shops and or do it yourselfers.

What is the siren like sound the car makes when you shut it off. Mine does that as well. Lasts for 15 min or so

Yes it’s required. If you don’t have it you cannot reset the maintenance light.
So you connected a laptop to the USB in the center Port using windows? I'm confused what tools you used to reset it? Also is the software free?
The laptop is connected to the dongle that’s plugged into the OBD2 port via Bluetooth. We use witech 2 which is what the scan tool is called. The software is not free, you have to subscribe and the dongle is $500-$600.

what's the difference between the turbo charger coolant and the coolant?
Engine coolant reservoir is located on passenger side and is only for the engine cooling system. Turbocharger reservoir is located on the driver side and is a smaller reservoir and is only for the turbocharger system. Both systems use the same coolant and are independent of each other.
@@hycastro ok thanks I did not know that but glad I asked. My turbo tank was low but I thought it was just another coolant overflow. So I’m glad to know I didn’t put the wrong fluids (be it that it was only a cup or less)
Manual says every 10k mile or 1 year. To me that sounds a little extreme. Is it safe to wait that long. Or do you recommend different
Personally I wouldn’t go over 6k miles. The service interval seems to be getting longer and longer on cars and I’m not a fan.
@@hycastro I go 5k on mine. With the stress and heat these engines are subjected to, 10K is way too long IMHO. I am glad to see a tech recommend more frequent oil changes.
I did 10k/1yr for a long time (6 years) and as the car got older last change I got a check engine light for lower than expected oil pressure in the HP circuit. The oil filter got dirty after 9k miles and was restricting flow. Now I go 7k.
In regards to the oil to use, I found something about that but not 100% sure if it's correct, but knowing Fiat it might be.
Just because an oil is 0W-30 or 0W-40 and synthetic doesn't mean it automatically meets the Fiat spec. The only oil that seems to be readily available that meets the specs are Pennzoil Platinum Euro LX 0W-30 which will probably have to be ordered at Advanced Auto Parts/CarQuest. This oil will say on the bottle, "made from natural gas". They come only in a gray bottle, not yellow. Any oil you buy should say that the oil meets the spec, and should say "EXCEEDS MS-13340, FIAT 9.55535.DS1, FIAT 9.55535.GS1". You have to check to make sure that the Chrysler place you take it to has the Mopar MaxPro+ with the Fiat/Alfa confirmation, a lot of dealers don't carry it in stock and will put whatever they have into your Alfa, not good.
Like I said, knowing Fiat they have their reasons for using this special spec oil, and it is wise to heed what they say to use. Fiat spec oil has mostly to do with the oil vapor recovery system. The spec requires a very high-purity oil. The Pennzoil that meets the spec is made from natural gas, not oil. Direct injection engines tend to get carbon deposits on the back of the valves from the oil vapor recovery. On port injection cars this carbon gets washed away by the detergents in the gasoline. It can be very expensive to have the carbon removed, and it lowers performance if it builds up too much, but you don't want it to build up at all, so use the Fiat/Alfa spec'd oil.
I would assume that this oil would be wise to use on any port injection car.
The color of any bottle of oil will change over time. It might be gray today but it could be some other color tomorrow, the color isn't important, the Fiat/Alfa spec's numbers are what's important.

Witech which is provided by the dealer, but you can also use a Autel scan tool as well but it has to be capable of resetting maintenance lights.
The ultrasonic oil level sensor and its software is the stupidest i ever saw on any car.
