A great video! I find myself adopting more larp kit into my everyday wardrobe, especially trews/trousers. Nothing like relaxing in some linen trews for between events, it really helps add to the "wear and tear/worn in" look
Great video. Well done. My principle with any piece of clothing is 'if I have it, I wear it' (which may be why the witch hat keeps getting pushed back to back burner...). At the end of the day, it's just fabric. As long as that fabric fits me... _Hair Share_ - I've been cutting mine and Mister Husbands hair for the past 15 or so years. About ten years ago? First pass of the clippers was from my temple, straight-ish line to the back of my scull. After standing back up to check the mirror I did what I can only describe as "A Girl Scream". My curly head had a 2 mm tall, 4 cm wide path of peach fuzz running through it. With absolutely no way to fix it. At which point I started laughing and finished the job. Took a few months to grow back. The side effect of nearly bald headed me was serving the customers at the scone shop I was working in at the time. A Mommy Group would gather every week to effectively destroy the café with moved tables and dropped cheerios and never a thought to tidying up after themselves (every week it took 2-3 people to sprint clean the place before the lunch rush arrived). These women had collectively decided that I was "brave" because I "had cancer", specifically "leukemia", and loved my job so much that I was spending my last months serving their very upper middle class coffee clutch with, um, "joy". Please note, at no point did my "tips" ever increase. I only found out about this when one of the Mommy Leaders pulled me aside to ask for chemo advice... Rock out with your bald out. Wow that’s quite the hair story!! I once decide to have shoulder length hair without out the weight of the long hair I entered what I now call my pyramid head hair cut! It was really really bad! I’m back to butt length hair
@@robintheparttimesewer6798 {laughing} I think the nearly bald head somehow counterbalances the curly-hair-girl-mullet that was the only choice presented to me in highschool... which was an improvement on what I call "The Q-tip" hair cut that was my only option in middle school. Which was an improvement over the "side-puffs" of primary school. Seven years ago I put my hair into Locks. For whatever reason, when the curl is put under compression it turns wavy. My hair is now down to my waist - it's never been this long before. I wish my Grannies knew about Locks, they would have rocked it, as the kids may or may not say...

I once made a beautiful taffeta "fantasy elf" dress for my local ren faire but it needed an underdress and I had spent all my time working on the outer dress so I was down to the wire. I ended up making the sleeves and the neckline out of the "correct" material until they disappeared under the overdress and the rest of the dress was made from a light colored jersey knit sheet. It achieved the look without the fiddly fitting necessary for woven fabrics. Brilliant job on the video and I keep hoping that larps will become more popular over here in the US.
Great advice. I did a similar thing when making anime costumes for my kids. It’s much cheaper and easier to modify readymade. For one he needed a cropped opened leather jacket with a fur collar. I found a damaged leather coat for a dollar took off the waist tie and everything below that. As well as the zip. Then found a remnant of fake fur for collar for about 6 dollars. Used the bits removed for the weird belt like things on the legs. Leather pants found at a thrift shop and boots he already had finished it off. So much easier than trying to make something that would look leather like! Also sorry to hear your unhappy with your hair!

This is a really great video! These are all things I had to learn via trial & error at charity shops .... 20 years ago? Before I knew how to sew. Having a resource like this would have saved me a lot of cash, even at Goodwill prices :)
Well you make this LARP thing sound almost like it could be enjoyable (I'm not fully convinced yet) but I love the range of clothes you have. I do agree that there are so many more women's clothes available and they cover a greater range of styles, and as my own wardrobe is mainly of the female gender as I do identify with that gender even though I am... well not. As far as base layers go, Matalan could also be a good place to look at. My favorite style is tunic tops which I tend to think are more historical than other clothes but throw in a skirt and I'm sorted. Love the video, keep them coming.
This is fantastic advice! It's often hard for me to look at the items in my closet with fresh eyes. I've also been making some clothes for myself lately, and I really want to make some pieces like Hobbity bodices and big-sleeved pirate shirts to add some historybounding vibes to my outfits.

Great video! Love the easy LARP ideas. "Women's" clothes seem to have lots of random fantasy elements that "men's" clothing generally lack.
