    Haha, I love how you toss out your original plan for the hood cause sometimes you accidentally make the perfect one XD

    • @MarisArmoury
      @MarisArmoury  2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Yup, indeed. Why waste time on more effort? And to be honest, just saying 'screw it, lets change the plan' is half the fun.

    Double pockets are brilliant. But terminology: you have no interfacing. That's simply a facing. An interfacing is a layer inside the facing especially to stiffen an edge, or any other stiffening layer, like interfacing a fold over collar so it isn't floppy.
    Also, as a former competition archer I can say that cloth covering the wrist is zero problem.

    • @MarisArmoury
      @MarisArmoury  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ah yes, that is indeed correct, but in my speed of wanting to say things I occasionally use them interchangeably.

    Really good video! You inspire me to start making my own LARP costumes!
    Edit: I just finished watching the video, the costumes ended up incredible! It looks amazing 😊

      Thank you! And I wish you lots of fun with the making process!

    Just from the end of it, one major thing I'd note that would have been a good idea for an addition is something for your hair...long hair can be a pain in the ass when shooting because you don't get flowing cinematics, but always seems to get hair in your face and screwing with your vision.

    • @MarisArmoury
      @MarisArmoury  ปีที่แล้ว

      I did not mention it in the video, but I tie the front bits of my hair back in a tiny ponytail with this costume.

      @@MarisArmoury Yeah, that just reminded me of the nightmare that I'd had to deal with in the past when my hair was longer...I still occasionally need to deal with issues when my hair gets a bit to long...but, unfortunately, still to short for most solutions. That's why it jumped out at me with it

    This was a good video. I'm making a ranger inspired tunic coat thing and I learned a couple things in fitting here.
    And I love that archery tab you made.
    Might make some myself

      Thank you! And regarding the archery tab, sometimes the simplest projects are the best ones ;)

    It looks wonderful. I hope you had a good time at the event. Nice work on the jacket, it looks warm.

    • @MarisArmoury
      @MarisArmoury  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you! The event was indeed a lot of fun, so you will see more of this costume in the future! The jacket was pretty warm, but it was surprisingly cold that weekend, and with the freezing temperatures and wind we had still a bit chilly.

  • @madpacman0309
    @madpacman0309 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    you could use a normal less bulky quiver if you just flip the arrows around so the fletching is in the quiver and not the tip of the arrow

    • @madpacman0309
      @madpacman0309 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      also the jacket is cool

    • @MarisArmoury
      @MarisArmoury  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes! That is a possibility and a lot of people use them that way. But I set myself a challenge to specifically make one where the arrows face the right way, that, at least for me, saves time when I want to use them. As I'm used to regular archery where I put the arrows on the bow by grabbing the fletching side and putting them on in one motion.

    It's nice to see the process that went into building this one. Definitely a worthy addition to the Scavvie ranks. Watch your back out there, Dead One. ;-)

      Thank you for suggesting I join the existing background! Can't wait to continue playing with these characters, especially now that we can go play with glow in the dark stuff 😉

    Shame the glove got mouldy…as a fellow archer deeply into trad archery I much prefer and thus recommend the glove! 😂
    But nice improvisation! 👍
    Also for future builds I’ll recommend a chest guard as a piece of actually functional armour that keeps all the folds etc down so the string won’t catch on the clothing.

    • @MarisArmoury
      @MarisArmoury  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I later found out the half-finger gloves I wear with the costume also work pretty well instead of the archery tab! And are easier to wear the entire time, so I don't have to slip them on when combat is starting.
      As for armour.. you are in luck, I actually made a leather one quite soon afterwards, got some videos up about that as well :)

      I already made some you can check this th-cam.com/video/LdRjHW9eXhI/w-d-xo.html or one of the other videos in the larp playlist on my channel

    Have you considered adapting your skills set to make your own line of custom clothing?

    • @MarisArmoury
      @MarisArmoury  ปีที่แล้ว

      No? I make one off pieces, that are haphazardly held together with pins and ductape, I am not a designer ;)

  • @stephengent9974
    @stephengent9974 ปีที่แล้ว

    If you had ever done any archery for real, you would know how impractical this outfit is. Archers wear much more closely fitting garb, especially around the arms

    • @MarisArmoury
      @MarisArmoury  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the tips! I have actually done archery for quite a few years, with whatever loose fitting things I was wearing at the time. And in the two years I have this costume I have never had any issue with the arrows. But I guess I'll change it all up now!
